Jester watched the she-cat, blinking slowly. Where was her family? Was she alone? Well, of course not. She was with the clan. But just because you were with a clan didn't mean you weren't alone. Friends couldn't really replace those that had been with you since birth. The tom gently swiped up his portion of prey and bounded out of the ditch, using his long tail for balance. He was oblivious to her own thoughts as he was stuck in his. Did she hunt alone each day like this? "Oh. He-here." He stuttered, placing the few pieces of prey he had caught at her paws. "Better go now. I think some cats are headed this way." He meowed, hearing faint traces of a few different voices.

Amberwind swiveled her mottled ears back. "I don't hear cats." She murmured, not yet wanting to be alone again. Her paws scratched the ground in dismay. Unwillingly, the she cat picked up the squirrel and chipmunk and, tossing one last look over her shoulder, climbed up in a tree. She wasn't yet ready to go back to the loneliness of Tempestclan. Nothing was holding her there except traditions.

Jester watched the she-cat disappear into the tree, surprised to find his head sinking in disappointment. He had wanted to get to know the she-cat better, know her as more than just Amberwind, the warrior. Tail twitching in dismay, he flattened his ears and turned away. However, something made him pause and look back. "See you tomorrow?" He called, eyes wide with hope.
(Ugh. I know. Doesn't help I feel bad too.)

Amberwind purred. "Tomorrow then." She mewed softly, a touch of sadness laced in her voice. Today wasn't over yet and already she was alone again. So much for making friends. The she-cat dreaded going back to Tempestclan. For all the cats in the clan, she always felt so alone. Except for when she was with the kits. They always made her happy, playing with each other and chasing their tails. But there weren't any kits in the clan right now, so Amberwind truely was alone.

Jester could sense her hesitation as he slowly glanced back toward the small clearing he had called home for several days now. Then, looking back at her, he began to think. She seemed to dread going back to the place she called home. But why? Was she disliked? He couldn't see how that would work. He liked her. She was friendly and clever. Lonely? But that couldn't work either because of all the cats taht were with her. Perhaps she didn't have any friends there. How sad....
Coming to this conclusion, the tom gazed upward into the tree, squinting into the sunlight as he strained to see her. He had made up his mind. "Well....You could always come with me. You know, show you where I stay and all." He meowed akwardly.

Amberwind though for a moment. No cat would notice if she slipped away for a while. Thinking, Amberwind closed her eyes and backed up along the branch, so she could not be seen. The she-cat jumped silently onto the next tree until she stood directly over Jester. The she-cat clawed her way expertly halfway down the trunk. Then the she-cat leaped onto Jester's back and rooled off after a moment. "Haha. Gotcha." She laughed.

Jester let out a soft irritated meow of surprise as he was pressed into the ground by an unseen force. Spitting out the grass and dirt that had filled his mouth, the tom pretended to not see Amberwind. Staying silent he reared up, paws flailing as he expertly turned on his hind legs. His front paws made contact with the she-cat's back as he came down. "No, I've got you." He chuckled. "So was that a yes?" He added.

Amberwind purred. "Of course furball." The mottled she cat shook her paws out one by one so she would be ready to leap into action if needed. She knew that eventually she would have to go back to Tempestclan, but for now, she was free to go with Jester. Nothing could stop her. Her paws itched with anticipation. Amberwind felt as though she could run anywhere. Anywhere far away from the dull life in Tempestclan. Even if it was only for a little while.

Jester couldn't help but let out a purring laugh. The tom dropped to the ground, still feeling as if he were a new cat. He had a friend that would, for the time being, allow him to be himself rather than the sneaky tom that everyone expected him to be nowadays. Flicking his tail anxiously, he glanced back in the direction where he had heard the voices. It seemed to him that the cats that had been heading toward the duo had changed direction. That was good news. Filling with relief, he turned his gaze back to Amberwind. "Come on. Follow me." He meowed. Turning suddenly, the black tom dashed off toward the place had been staying. It was a modest clearing with a mossy nest underneath a bush where he had been staying. Just on the fringes of the border, he hadn't been detected yet.

Amberwind sprinted after Jester, her paws barely skimming the ground as the she-cat matched Jester's pace. "Wow." She mewed as she skidded to a stop. The mottled warrior secretly admired the loner, though she couldn't imagine not having any cat to talk to. "How long have you lived here?" She mewed. The apprentices hunted here almost every day, but they still hadnt scented Jester. 'Remind me to scold them for being careless.' She noted to herself. Though, this was one mistake Amberwind didnt mind.

Jester tilted his head to the side as he surveyed the mini-camp. Again, it wasn't. Just a well hidden nest under a bush in a clearing. It was easy to see why no one had found him yet. He had hid every trace of his being there very well. The tom advanced farther into the clearing, quietly heading down the slight depression. The clearing was slightly lower than the surrounding land as well, making it more sheltered. Finding a question to the warrior's question was quick and easy. "Oh, not long. Less then a moon I think. Surprised no one's found me." He responded, seeming slightly edgy at this fact.

Amberwind turned her mottled head to face Jester. "I found you." She purred. Indeed, the she-cat was thrilled that she had met Jester. She couldn't have gone through another boring day, especially not alone. Amberwind took a mental note of the area. She was surprised that no cat had found this area yet. It would be perfect for battle training and even hunting. She took in a deep breath. Jester's scent was remarkably strong here. It felt almost impossible that no other cat had found the tom here already, especially if he had been here for so long.

Jester looked around the clearing with a sigh. For almost a moon it had been his home. the tom felt sad that he had to leave; he had been there way too long for his own good. Every day he stayed there, the chances of him being found by someone other than Amberwind were greater.
Turning his ebony head to the she-cat he flattened his ears sadly. "That you did. But I have to move today anyway. If I don't, I could be found sooner then I want to be." He meowed with regret. It was true though. He had to leave soon, or at least travel to a different part of TempestClan territory.

Amberwind's ice blue eyes widened in desperation. "You could stay here." She mewed quickly. "I'll make sure no other cat finds you." The she-cat wan't about to lose her new friend alreaady. She barely knew anything about him, and yet, the tom seemed ready to be on his way. Amberwind lowered her head, ready to hiss. Her sadness was quickly turning to anger at Tempestclan. Why couldn't they just let her be?

Humor glinted in Jester's eyes as he placed his tail tip on the she-cat's nose slightly. He laughed as he gave her a smile. "Determined to keep friends huh? I like that." He meowed. Black paws carried him over to the center of the clearing before he turned around to face Amberwind. "Yes, I know you would. But I wouldn't doubt some of the younger cats would disobey. Anyway, I'm not really leaving. Just moving to a different part of TempestClan territory." He added, concerned about unhappy she seemed with her clan.
