Amberwind tossed her mottled head happily. "How could I turn down an offer like that?" She laughed. Amberwind pushed away the small fear that some cat would catch them. The mottled she-cat would be careful and scent constantly to keep alert for any sign of her clanmates. "Do you know the territory or do I need to lead you every step of the way?" Amberwind taunted him. The tom could turn out to be a good friend, but there was a naggin thought in her mind that kept reminding Amberwind that she was breaking the warrior code. Who will know? She thought to herself as she waited for Jester's response.

Jester narrowed his eyes at Amberwind and swiped s sheathed paw in her direction playfully. He knew she was only joking, for there was a hint of a teasing tone buried in the question. Flicking his tail, he 'accidently-on-purpose' hit the warrior near her face. "Ooops. So sorry." He meowed, dipping his head in a mock sign of respect. A grin on his face he suddenly bounded foward, his paws easily covering the distance between him and a tree. The loner looked back over his shoulder, swerving just in time to miss the tree. "Bet I know the forest better than you!" He called, his tone challenging.

Amberwind shook her head in mock disbelief before flexing her muscles and bounding off after Jester. "Wanna bet?" She challenged him. The mottled she cat dashed forward and almost seemed to disappear for a moment as she sprinted through a dirt tunnel in the ground and popped back up near a lrge oak, several paces ahead. Amberwind seathed and unseathed her claws into the moss at her paws, ready to dash off as soon as the tom dared her. "I've spent all my life exploring these woods." She called to the tom. "No cat knows them better than I do." Not even in my own clan, Amberwind thought to herself. It was true, the mottled she-cat has spent much more time exploring than any of her clanmates ever would.

Jester stopped as the warrior disappeared then reappeared only a few heartbeats later. Blinking, he realized there must have been a tunnel or hole of some sort. She had spotted it before him. Well, she wasn't going to beat him over all. Gathering his strength he bounded forward, his ears and whiskers flattened by the wind. He felt as if he were flying as he whisked past Amberwind, not bothering to stop as a log soon came into site. With a confident ease he flung himself over, landing gracefully on the other side without even having to take a deep breath. "Well come on then. I don't have all day." He called, crouching down to hide against the log. The bark scraped against his flank as he quieted his breath. It was yet again another chance to pull a joke. If she didn't fall for it.... oh he didn't know! It wasn't Jester's way to think that far again.

Amberwind watching the tom with a careful gaze as he leaped over the log. The tom jumped over it, but then, she heard no other pawsteps. The wind blew past the mottled she cat's whiskers and she drew in the scents of the forest around her. Jester was upwind of her, so he would never detect her presence until she needed him to. Amberwind padded up next to the log, so quiet that not even a mouse could hear her pawsteps. She stealthily launched herself up onto the log, still making sure that no cat could hear her. The mottled she-cat gathered her muscles and leaped onto the tom's shoulders, pinning him to the ground. "Neither do I." She mewed in reponse to Jester's earlier comment. Amberwind leaped off the tom and sprinted ahead several fox-lengths before bounding up a tree and hiding in the branches. Her mottled pelt blended in perfectly with the bark so that only her ice blue eyes stood out from the branches.

Jester sputtered in surprise as Amberwind landed right on top of him. Hearing her voice he grinned and began to struggle. Oh so thats how she wanted to play huh? He wasn't going to stand for it. He, Jester, be humiliated? Never.
Struggling to his feet, the tom shook the leaves and dust from his pelt as the she-cat continued to race off. He watched her progress slowly, blinking suddenly as she disappeared. Startled, he padded forward, searching the ground. A sudden flash of color caught is attention and he looked up. Blue. Dismissing it, he thought it was a jay. But no. It disappeared and reappeared. Got you now! He thought with satisfaction. Pretending to have not seen the warrior, he continued to look about, sticking his nose under a bush or two randomly.

Amberwind blinked. Jester had paused and looked straight at her. Had he seen her ice blue eyes? The mottled she-cat couldn't take that chance. She foucsed her eyes in front of her so that the tom wouldn't be able to see them and launched herself quietly onto the next tree. Amberwind clawed her way along the branch until she could leap onto the ground. The she-cat launched herself onto the ground, only stumbling slightly before dashing ahead into the forest. "Catch me if you can!" She yowled. The mottled she cat disappeared into a bush and wached Jester with curious eyes. Would he chase her or call her bluff? Even if he does call my bluff, she thought, I'm not budging, Amberwind's eyes were barely visable through the bush and could only be spotted if she blinked.

Jester stayed still, a humorous smile covering his face. Oh he knew what she was doing. He was a joker himself. Knew the tricks of the trade, his way around this sort of thing. Squinting, he tried to figure out where she was. Nothing. He couldn't see anything. Lashing his tail to and fro, the tom sighed and began to pad forward. He was ready for an ambuse, seeing as he couldn't prevent it. Or could he? Suddenly the tom took off, heading straight for a place he knew a ditch was located. This would be classic.
Pretending to not see it, Jester rolled forward, giving out a yowl of surprise. Then he lay still on the bottom, one eye barely open. Would she fall for this? Hopefully. He'd done it before, and cats usually ran around panicing. It was a funny thing to watch actually.

Amberwind's ice blue watched Jester fall into a ditch. He didn't fall as much as stumble. Does he really expect me to fall for that? She wondered curiously. Amberwind wasn't stupid nor naive like a young apprentice or kit. Looking at her surroundings, the mottled warrior spotted a mouse eating a berry right in front of her. Perfect! The she-cat thought to herself. She reached out her one white paw and killed the mouse with one blow. Then, she hooked it with her claw and tossed the prey over onto Jester. Amberwind heard a soft thud as the mouse hit its target. She padded out from the bush with an air of confidence and grace not often found in Tempestclan cats. "Give in yet?" She mewed, sitting just beyond the edge of the ditch, peering down at Jester. The she-cat curled her fluffy tail around her paws comfortably, but kept her muscles taut, ready to spring into action at the slightest warning.

Jester continued to quiet his breathing, remaining utterly still as the mouse landed on his flank. The fresh-kill was hard to ignore, but he had to if he wanted this to work. He had to admit, the warrior was quite smart and clever. But hopefully he was still on top. It would be hard to figure it all out, but he could do it. Hopefully.
Waiting to see if the she-cat would become concerned was quite boring for him. This was a challenge for him to remain still, considering his true nature was bouncing around constantly. The tom could feel the dirt beginning to rub into his fur. This had better be worth it.

Amberwind hid her slight concern with a flick of her mottled tail. She yawned and blinked her ice blue eyes slowly. "Whenever you decide to get up," The she-cat mewed, "I'm ready." Amberwind began to groom her chest and legs, keeping one eye on Jester all the while. The mottled warrior twitched her ears. It was almost sunhigh. Would her clanmates notice that she hadn't come back from hunting yet. No. The she-cat dismissed the thought. No cat in her clan would care that she had been hunting for so long as long as she brought back plenty of food for every cat. Amberwind sighed and looked back at Jester. "Bored yet?" She laughed.

Finally giving up, Jester pushed himself upward into a relaxed sitting position. The mouse rolled onto the ground at his front paws before he clasped it gently in his teeth. Turning his head, he flung the fresh prey upward at Amberwind's head. Of course he couldn't exactly tell where it was going to go. But maybe if he got lucky.....
"Completely bored." He meowed, laughing. Frowning at the state of his fur, the tom began to wash the dirt from it. Hard work, but worth it. Who wanted soil-filled fur? "Ready to really hunt?" Jester added.

Amberwind swiftly raised one claw and hooked the mouse that Jester had flung at her. She turned around a buried the prey to come back for later. "Nice try." She mewed. "But I've had moons of training." She pointed out referring to her apprenticeship. The she-cat shook her fur to make it more fluffy. "I'm ready whenever you are." She mewed, primed to hunt. Amberwind could already scent a chipmunk only 5 paces away, behind a large bush. The she-cat slid immediatly into a hunter's crouch. "You want to get it or shall I?" She whispered to Jester, knowing that the loner probably couldn't scent the chipmunk or hear it digging for food.

Jester turned and blinked at the bush. He could very well smell the chipmunk, but he could also spot a squirrel not far from where he was. Turning toward the prey, he slid smoothly into a hunter's crouch. "You get it." He murmured, slowly slinking forward. The prey he was after had no idea as it scampered back and forth across the ditch. Now he was only a few tail-lengths away. Pausing with each part of him still, Jester watched as it continued to roam around. Seemed kind of stupid actually. How could it not see, hear, or smell the doom that was arising? Bad for it, good for him. Leaping forward, the loner gracefully arched into the air before falling back to earth with his claws buried in the prey's flesh. Shocked, it made not a sound as he dug his fangs into the back of it's neck. The creature fell limp at his paws as he turned his gaze to Amberwind. Had she caught her prey yet?

Amberwind launched forward in the chipmunk's directions, killing it swiftly with one blow of her claws. The she-cat dug a small hole and placed the prey in it. She then covered it with a small layer of dirt to keep predators from finding it. Turning back to Jester she saw the tom had caught a squirrel. Amberwind was impressed. "Nicely done." She mewed. In two seconds, the loner and clan cat had caught more prey than all of the Tempestclan apprentices combined. Amberwind narrowed her ice blue eyes. Not many loners could scent or catch prey that well. Where was this tom from? What was his past? Amberwind's mind reeled with curiosity.
