A small grey tom walked out of the warrior's den, looking at the sky. I wonder if it'll rain soon, He thought, thinking that the earth would love to be replenished. He looked around for his friend, Sparrowflight. He went back into the den, and whispered softly, "Sparrowflight, if you're in here, meet me later, ok?" He wondered if he should hunt, but the fresh kill pile was plentiful. Sighing, he went to go get something to share with Sparrowflight. If I ever find her He thought, annoyed.
After a while he had finished what he got, he didn't really know what it was, because he was getting annoyed at Sparrowflight. He went back over to the warrior's den and sighed. He deduced she was probably hunting, so, bored, he started to groom his fur.

A tan, long-legged, scrawny excuse for a warrior bounded into ZephyrClan camp and came to a stop in a patch of sunlight. Her fur was covered in burrs but her mood was light and carefree as she sat down and started picking them out with her teeth. She had not been out hunting, as she was prone to do every morning, but had instead been out for a little walk. Would have liked to have avoided the burrs but, all in all, it was a good morning, she thought cheerfully as she yanked the last spiky burr from the tip of her long tail. Sighing in satisfaction, she scanned the camp with her pale green eyes and spotted the dark gray warrior lying by the warrior's den. Tail-tip twitching thoughtfully, Sparrowflight jumped to her paws and padded lightly over to Whispercloud. From this angle, she couldn't quite tell how irritable her former mentor had become ^.^

Whispercloud sighed in relief as he saw his old friend. He had grown quite an attraction for her, but that was an old tale. He tried to perk up, and looked over at her. "Hey, Sparrowflight. How are you?" He knew that was a stupid question, he could see she was happy, but he had begun to get nervous around her. He stretched out, his paws aching to get moving, but he'd stay in camp if she wanted.
He had to note how much he loved her fur colour, her eyes, her personality, everything. He was annoyed at himself for not telling her how he felt, but still, he hoped she didn't like anybody. "What do you wanna do today?" He said, his voice like honey. Now, that doesn't happen often, but he was happy(ish) today. ((OOC: Aw, he wikes her. XD))

((haha ^.^)) Oh, mousedung, another burr Sparrowflight thought as she spied a small bur stuck in her forepaw. She tugged the burr free as Whispercloud spoke, then looked up at the odd tone in his voice. She tilted her head to one side and studied him with her pale green eyes. "Are you feeling okay, Whispercloud? You seem a little...jumpy." No one could say that Sparrowflight didn't say what she thought, and she thought Whispercloud was acting a little stranger than normal. And why was he looking at her like that? "Do I have any more burrs on me?" she asked, self-consciously checking her fur for more of the pestering little burrs.

The grey tom laughed. "I'm feeling fine, nothing's wrong with me." His smile assured that, and when she asked if there were anymore burrs on her, he looked at her in the eye. His amazing response? "No, you look perfect, actually." His eyes grew wide as he realized what he had just said. Embarrassed, he looked away.
WHY IN STARCLAN DID I JUST SAY THAT TO HER?! He thought, mentally angry at himself. The right side of his mind was throwing inluslts at the left side of his mind. Idiot, idiot, you are so stupid! Over and over, but he looked back at her and smiled. "Well? What do you want to do?"

The small she-cat was still searching her fur when Whispercloud spoke, and by the time she looked up in surprise, he had already looked away. Narrowing her eyes curiously, she studied him for a long moment, her tail-tip twitching in interest. "Uh...thanks," she mewed uneasily, flicking her ears back. "Good to know. Found a whole patch of burrs in the meadow today. Do you want to go hunt?" He should know this would be her suggestion; there was little Sparrowflight enjoyed more than chasing after rabbits and mice.

Whispercloud sighed and looked at her. "Promise to tell ya today." He noted her uneasiness, and wondered what would happen when he told her. "Yea, come on." He started towards the camp entrance, and before you knew it he was already outside, waiting for her.
Why did I promise?

Satisfied that she would soon find out what was bothering her friend, the small warrior jumped to her feet and bonded out of the camp, passing Whispercloud and sprinting toward the meadows at top speed. This was the one part of herself that she could take pride in--her speed, and the feeling of the wind as it whipped through her fur. She loved to run. "Come on, you lumbering badger!" she yowled without slowing down. "Don't tell me you're too distracted for this!"

Whispercloud ran after her, refusing to be beaten. Once they had gotten to a little clearing, he slowed down. "Slow down, I think I have something stuck in my paw." He pretended to get something, and then looked at her. "I did promise to tell you, so, uhm.. here it goes."
Many thoughts were swirling inside his head, mostly fear. What if she stops being my friend? No, she'll understand. I know she... He let out a small sigh, and turned to face her. "You see, we've been friends for a while, right?" He started, sounding awkward. "Well.. I've grown fond of you... and... I.. I love you?" By the end he had turned it into a question, he looked up at her, wondering what she'd say.

((Awwwkward ^.^)) Sparrowflight sighed and slowed down with some regret. She wanted to RUN! Whispercloud was even jumpier now, and as Sparrowflight sat down and curled her long tail around her forepaws, she wondered if she really wanted to hear what he had to say. He sure looked disturbed. What if she didn't want to know?
And then...he said it. For someone so set on speaking her mind bluntly, Sparrowflight shouldn't have been as startled as she was. But...well...she was. She stood up, ears perking forward in surprise. She tilted her head to one side and...well...she really didn't know what to say. Did she feel the same way about Whispercloud? She didn't know. "Whispercloud I....I'm not sure if I do or don't feel that way about you. I really...never even thought about it," she mewed, for the first time having trouble speaking bluntly. She took a breath and looked him straight in the eyes, as was her way. "You were an incredible mentor and have been my closest friend ever since, but...I never thought about that kind of thing. I just don't...know." She kept her gaze set on his amazing blue eyes, and tried to reason through why he would say this. I mean, she was the scrawniest warrior in ZephyrClan! She looked like a starving rogue more than a Clan warrior!

((OOC: I know, right? XDD)) Whispercloud rolled his eyes as he guessed what she was thinking. He was a bit annoyed. "It's not all about looks, mouse-brain!" He snapped, and then shame flooded over him. That wasn't very polite. He looked away, and then back. "Still wanna hunt?" He asked, his honey voice still there, if she didn't like him back, it was fine by him. As long as they were friends.
Hey, a cat can dream, can't they?

Sparrowflight's eyes lit with relief as Whispercloud's voice went back to normal. Snappy, irritable Whispercloud was much preferred to shy, uncomfortable Whispercloud. "We should talk about this later," she suggested, pricking her ears forward to see how he would react to that. "It's too perfect of a day to not be hunting." She stood up, took a few steps, and then glanced back at him. "Let's hunt?" What else could she say? She couldn't speak the words she knew he wanted to hear, at least not until she thought about it more and...really knew how she felt. So for now they'd just have to...hunt.

Whispercloud narrowed his eyes, and nodded defensively as he heard his friend’s words. He didn’t know why, but he was in a foul mood. He was sure it wasn’t because of rejection, because he had been feeling irritated all day long. Sighing, he stretched and looked back at her. ”Okay, later then?” His tone was guarded, but it still held the tone of honey he had had all day.
The sun was shining brightly now, and the breeze was soft. It cooled his fur off, and he savored every minute of it because he rarely got to feel this cool. Long haired cats, such as him, were suited for the cold moons, not the intense heat waves. He wondered what time of the day it was, so he looked up. I think it’s nearly sunhigh He thought, noting how cool it was. How soon is leaf-bare?
He smiled at Sparrowflight and gave a small purr. ”Yea, I can’t wait to hunt. I bet you’re too scared, though.” He mewed sarcastically, challenging her. An idea struck him. ”Whoever gets the most fresh kill has to clean each other’s bedding for a moon!” He was joking about the bedding, but he was serious about the competition. Without waiting for her response, he raced off into the bushes. ((OOC: Yay! Muse has come back to meee~))

Tail lashing from side to side, Sparrowflight sprang after Whispercloud. "I've been ready for this all day!" she mewed, loudly enough for him to hear but not loudly enough to scare away the prey. With a single sideways glance at Whispercloud, she slipped silently into the tall grass, her fur blending in perfectly.
Silent as a creeping shadow, Sparrowflight streaked back and forth through the meadow, nose and ears alert for any sign or scent of prey. Several small mice caught her attention, but she didn't bother to stop for them--they would hardly be a mouthful for a warrior, and her favorite prey were the jackrabbits. So, she set her senses on catching sight of the tawny fur, and waited. Finally, an earthy scent drifted towards her, and she perked her ears up in excitement. She stopped in her tracks and dropped to her belly, crawling forward paw-by-paw in the direction of the rabbit's scent. When she could hear it nibbling at a patch of clover, she sprang forward, startling it into flight. The two tawny creatures raced across the open meadow, but the rabbit never had a chance--Sparrowflight sprang forward with blinding speed and pinned the rabbit to the ground, killing it with a bite to the neck.
The blood was still pounding in her ears as she lifted the rabbit in her mouth and searched for a place to put it. But then....an idea struck her. Sparrowflight was never much of a playful cat, but there were a few occasions which she enjoyed pulling a trick, and Whispercloud needed some cheering up (although this particular trick might serve to sour his mood even more). Dropping the rabbit, she raised her nose and sniffed the air for any scent of the dark gray warrior. Yes, there it was, faint on the breeze. She picked the rabbit back up and crept silently towards the scent, hoping the rabbitscent would mask her own. She would put the rabbit down and wait--if Whispercloud scented the rabbit and came to hunt it, she would spring right on his back and give him the fright of his life!

'One, two... NOW!' He thought, springing after a rabbit. After a moment he had killed it with a swift bite to the neck. He put it on a small pile of fresh kill. He continued to hunt, but got bored after a while. He started to pace, but he really didn't know why. 'Am I just trying to pass the time?' He wondered, a bit irritated because he had no clue what he was doing. The tom started to wonder why he had told her. "Well, I promised her, but.." He whispered, pawing at the ground angrily. He decided he'd hunt again in a bit, and started to clean the burrs from his tail, he had no clue where he got them, but he really didn't care, so he just started to pick them out, taking some fur with them.
He stretched lazily next to his pile, staring at it. He had to admit, he was a bit bored. He looked around, wondering what Sparrowflight was hunting. 'Jackrabbits' He decided, and looked around for any traces of prey. He saw a small shuffle of the grass, and without thinking he pounced. He managed to get a mouse, and he probably scared half of the prey away. He chuckled to himself, no doubt trying to hide how annoyed he was.
By the time Whispercloud had spelled the rabbit, he had gotten a small pile of fresh kill. He opened his jaws to find out where the scent came from, and he started to run to the scent, but when he got there, nothing was there. "What?"
