VertigoClan camp is placed within a thick, undergrowth-laden, evergreen forest. These pines are tall, but not too tall, and have extremely wide sweeping branches, which is why the actual camp in made up of these strange trees. The dens are placed beneath them, with planety of room, all dens except the medicine cat's den and the leader's den. The medicine cat's den is a massive boulder, carried by the glacier when it was much larger, and cracked in half by time and weather. Not only that, but it has been slightly hollowed out on one side and in the center, so the medicine cat and their apprentice sleep under one side, where moss grows thick, and the herbs are strores within the center. The leader's den is a hollowed out, rotting fallen pine leaning on another, standing pine. Leader sleeped under where the two meet, and calls meetings from atop the fallen one. There is a stream that runs adjacent to camp.

wonder why you do me like wonder why you do me like wonder why you do me like you do Her eyes fluttered open slowly as she gained conciousness. She let out a low groan as she felt a sharp pain in her side that she knew was only one of the kits being mischevious. "Stop it." her voice rumbled, turning her head back a little towards the larger part of her body. Her head turned back forward and she stood up slowly. She blinked her eyes until she had rid them of sleep, and she exited the nursery. Her bright red-orange fur made her stand out in camp, and she felt her face grow hot. She hadn't fit in as well as she had before she had been taken to MaliceClan, and soon after she got back she messed up. She got caught in a love triangle with Chasmriver and another tom. The tom had slowly drifted away and out of love with her, and she and Chasmriver were together. It was bliss, but it did not last. The result of all of it was her pregnancy. Her stomach growled and brought her back to reality, and she made her way to the fresh-kill pile.

Butterflywing;; Butterflywing trotted towards camp, her ice blue hues were warm and bright. Her lithe and slender form moved quickly through the territory. Her cream colored pelt glistened an off white shine as she moved. Clamped in the young warriors jaws were two shrews. She had been hunting since dawn and it was well on its way to noon.
Shaking her pelt of the soft frost of leaf-bare the she-cat made it to the outskirts of camp. Where a line of tall trees covered her from above. Only little patches of light filtered through the patches and some landing on her pelt. Her legs moved quickly as she was tired and wanted to rest and eat. Hopefully share tounges with some clanmates.
Making her way into camp her icey hues glowed with relief as she went and droped her prey into the fresh kill pile. Only to bend back down and take one shrew for herself. Trotted over to the sunniest part of camp she laid down. Seting her shrew aside for a moment to give her paws a quick grooming. Swiping her lush pink tounge over her paws in quick gentle swipes. Feeling the sunlight soak into her fur she let out a soft purr.
Pulling the prey closer to with her paws, she swiped her tounge. Leting out a soft yawn beofre bending down a taking a bite of her shrew. She savored it and let the taste linger in her mouth before swallowing. Turning to look around camp, she frowned. There was no one in sight. Everyone was probably inside the dens or out of camp. Sighing the pretty she-cat bent down taking another mouthful of prey.Suddenly movement caught her eyes and she spotted Flamingarrow coming from the nursery. She smiled politly and mewed in her sily tone of voice. "Greetings Flamingarrow." she purred gently.

n o r t h w i n d - - - [ <3 ] A shard of brilliant green was suddenly revealed, growing and widening until he had fully parted his heavy lids, consciousness gained finally, after a rough night of haunting nightmares, of all the worst possible situations that could torment his mate during birth, northwind was glad to finally rid himself of the dream world. Long ivory whiskers slightly drooping, strange for such a normally cheerful tom, the tabby warrior rose, and was hit with a sweet scent; Dustedrose. There she lay, so beautiful and serene in her gentle sleep. He could tell by the small but content smile he'd picked up upon her delicate face that she was not sharing his worried subconscious. A small gush of air flowing from his parted lips formed a relieved sigh. Everything would be alright.
Satisfied with this simple thought, Northwind gently shook out his pelt, expecting one of his grumpier clanmates to mutter at him about the ruckus he was making, but no one peeped, and as the tom gazed around him, squinting, he suddenly recognized the nursery, not the warriors den. Duh! His tail swung around and flicked him in the face for being a dolt. Creeping out without disturbing any of the queens, the rough-looking felines stretched his long bodice in the nontide sun, and moaned. Overslept, again. Shrugging off his embarrassment but still feeling his ears burn, Northwind slunk over to the fresh-kill pile, reminding himself to hunt later, to make up for the 'stolen' meal. "Well, hi there, Butterflywing, Flamingarrow." He suddenly purred in his deep, husky voice, settling beside her with a plump vole of his own and smiling. Suddenly realizing how loud his wn belly was yowling, he took a quick bite, then looked up expectantly, licking his chops then grinning. c h a s m r i v e r - - - [ <3 ] As, once more, the day's bright sun shifted its position in the brilliant cerulean sky, the young warrior's head shot up, handsome face inclining to peer towards the elevated treeline, where he noted the time and nodded slightly to himself. Camp was beckoning, he knew, but aside from his soft nest and a warm meal, something else awaited him. His worst nightmare, by far. He never hased to be a father, what tom his age would? It was only a bit of fun, that had shifted tides and turned his carefree life absolutely upside-down.
Cringing against the vivid memory of Flamingarrow's once demure, now furious and miserable mask baring her teeth and screaming hateful words at him. He could hear himself screaming at her, too. His words probably more harsh than hers ever would be. She was too kind. Knife had done nothing to her. Oh I'm better, I'm stronger. I've changed. Chasmriver snorted. Nothing changed. She'd always be that sweet blossom of a she-cat, she'd always hate him. A disturbed shiver rippled down his spine at the thought, and he stooped to gently retrieve a slightly sodden lark from the rough earth, and twisted his body around.
His paws groped for a firm hold on the rocks, as he pivoted his lean frame to face camp, when a deep breath filled his chest and a sigh passed through his mumbling lips. Dust as coated the stones around him now settled upon his reluctantly dragging paws. Camp. Blinking, he jumped to the next cliff, turning slightly to leap to another, lean body rippling while he danced over the rockslide. Soon trees passed him by in a vivid blur upon the bleak landscape as the tabby broke into a jagged run. More trees, camp approached. The mingled scents of many familiar cats floated into his nostrils and open mouth. He could taste hers on his dancing tougue, wincing from it and snapped his jaws shut. Dont be an idiot! He told himself, The fierce Chasmriver fears no one! Do not shy from she-cats as though they are terrible monsters! His selfish conscious kicked his massive paws into a steady trot, head high with his twitching pink nose to the air.
He fumbled slightly when he realized she was settled near the fresh-kill pile, his first stop, but gulped down his idiot thoughts and looked away from her; she hadnt seen him yet. Chasmriver smiled slightly and dipped his ehad as he passed Summerpath and found his was to the savory-smelling pile of prey. He found found he was blinded though, and stumbled slightly on his way. She was all he saw, the color of fire flooded his vision, causing him to blink and stare, first at her swolen belly, then accusing brilliant sage eyes, and realized his mouth was flooding. Swallowing loudly, he coughed, and dropped his prey. Her name invoulentarily spilled from his now free mouth, each syllable tumbling to the ground before he could catch them. "Flamingarrow.." Chasmriver mumbled, eyes widening as he stuttered, scrambling to fix his misstep. "I..-I."

Edge of the camp. Alone time. Away from life. Away from the "new" Darkfog everybody wanted to see. Away from the fact that he was indeed to be a father. Away from the fact that his kits would belong to Abyssbird. Away from the fact that Serenewinter was gone. Away from the fact that he loved her, and Abyssbird was a confused mess in his mind he couldn't figure out what to do with. Away from the new responsibilities he would be gaining. Away from Vertigoclan life as he knew it. Though still in the camp of his clan, the tom knew that at least here he would be away from what he wanted to be away from. The cats would be out hunting or in their dens. Maybe towards the center of camp even. His depression and emo cat still existed within. That part would never fade. And for some reason Abyssbird seemed to like him for who he was. Damn her. The apprentice who was his was now his so called lover. Her mate, the carrier of his kits. Call her whatever you want...he called her Abyssbird. Sighing he quickly let his tail curl around his paws. She after all couldn't be out here. Lynxstar would not allow it. Not with her carrying kits of the clan. Then again it was only the edge of the camp, she might find him... Sighing the tom let his eyes settle on the Nursery.A chilly wind whipped around his fur as he waited for whatever Starclan had in store for him.

Serenewinter walked her territory like she no longer belonged here, like she was not welcome, even the Vertigoclan scent escaped her. A cat whom had not known her before would think she was invading or something along those lines. She was not invading, she was simply returning home, did she want to? Would people even know who she was? So the delicate white she-cat with teal-blue eyes made her way back to her home camp, she was no longer as delicate as she used to be, muscles that now lined her insides rippled lightly as she walked. She held her head up high and took a deep breath, would it still be the same? How long would it take her to settle? Serenewinter padded slowly into camp taking it all in, everyone had grown so much. Though the face she was really looking for, she could not see, Darkfog. Stepping into the middle of the camp she looked around her, looking for a friend, someone to talk to, or Lynxstar....so the clan knew she was back. Not that they would care much, she never had many friends anyway, then she remembered her friend Radienteclipse, her kits would be apprentices by now! She could not see her friend, or anybody she wanted to talk to. That was when she noticed, looking at all the cats around her, she saw how much more plump they were than her, still muscular, but more well fed. Maybe thats what being a travelling prisoner does to you. She looked down at her own lean muscular bodice and felt a little embarassed.

A fearsome gale lashed at her soft, ashy pelt, snarling and howling like an untamed beast as her eyelids fluttered groggily, head rested on massive ivory paws. Obviously the weather had no intention of letting her get away with a midday nap. With a grunt Cloverspring thrust herself upward, nearly tottering over as the wind picked up again, penetrating even her downy gray coat. Feeling her teeth chatter, she stumbled in the general direction of the camp's hub, slightly put off at the sight of Chasmriver and Flamingarrow. Even the deafest elder had heard the notorious gossip by now, seen the queen's concave belly and the harshness in her gaze. She shuddered as the brushed past them, the chill in the air no longer the climate's fault. Instead she padded closer to the stark white figure who seemed so out of place - she felt her jaw drop a touch - Serenewinter? She hadn't had the opportunity to chat since her return from the MaliceClan hideout. Her emerald eyes glittered as her sing-song voice rang out, "Serenewinter! Hello!" [/blockquote]

Serenewinter heard her name being called and she whipped her head around to see who wanted to speak to her. To her own dismay the voice was far to feminine to belong to Darkfog. Was he even still alive? She drowned the lump in her throat and soon noticed the voice belonged to Cloverspring. She smiled sweetley and bounded over to the she-cat in a few stealthy bounds. She took a moment to gather the Vertigoclan scent again. "Hello!" She meowed softly, but the optimism showed in her tone. She was glad to be back. "For Starclan's sake I don't even smell like I belong here anymore! I feel so....out of place as you might put it." She explained. She tilted her head to the side and her glowing teal blue eyes took in the familiar yet new surroundings. She shook her head, clearing it of thoughts. She had to keep a straight mind here, she could not allow herself to be overloaded by so many differen't thoughts. Would she even be accepted back? She gulped.

The tiniest smile crept onto Cloverspring's features, Serenewinter's gentle mew plunging her into memories of the old VertigoClan. Before MaliceClan crept into their lives and suddenly terror enveloped the clans. She was filled with a sudden lust for the old times, for even though she would always remain a kit at heart, she would probably never feel as carefree as she had in those joyous days. Serenewinter was a painful reminder, just a quick glance over her ivory pelt and saddened teal eyes, it was easy to see she had changed, too. She was careful not to let her eyes narrow in scrutiny, the last thing Serenewinter needed to feel was under assault. "Don't worry," she purred, her voice relaxed and upbeat. "We never forgot about you, and we're glad to have you home." She spoke for herself, really, but if everyone else would forget about their own woes for a moment, they'd realize how glad they were to have the former prisoner home. [/blockquote]

Darkfog saw her. It was like a dream. Serenewinter...here in camp? Oh no. As he watched Cloverspring speak with her he couldn't help but tear himself up on the inside. With Abyssbird due to have his kits any moment soon what was he to do with the fact that Serenewinter was here. The she-cat he loved and lost. Sighing he did something he never should of. He approached her. "Serenewinter..." He mewed softly. Taken aback by the sudden appearance she had displayed. She had changed, he could tell that now. Would it be for the better or worse though? Only time would tell with that question...

[flaming|arrow] She had chose a vole to eat, and had just taken the first bite of it when she was brutally awakened out of her dream-like state. A tom had bumped into her. She shot a dirty look at the brown tom, but then realized who it was when he said her name. "Talking to me for the first time in what? Moons?" her voice was as cold as ice on the coldest of winter days - as were her eyes which stared right into his, glaring. Her sudden mixture of feelings at seeing him made her hunger go away as it was replaced with anger, fear, disgust, pity, and was that a slight feeling of pleasure? She clawed at it mentally, knowing that she had just betrayed herself. She straightened herself up for another quick remark to Chasmriver. "And? What do you want?" she hissed through her teeth.

a b y s s b i r d - - - [ <3 ] A sharp pressure in her abdoment, almost a snap, but duller, aroused the onyx queen from her rare peaceful nap with an unpleasant jolt, as she gasped, then snapped her mouth shut. The last thing she wanted was for everyone in the clan to hear her in pain and come rushing in. Well, perhaps that wasn't the last thing she wanted, love at this point in her young love would be wonderful to recieve. The last thing she wanted right now was these kits. Not to say she did not love them with her whole heart and soul, but that they would live out their life in sure tradgety. Poor babies. Twisting carefully, Abyssbird turned her head to gaze at the massive lump in her middle with sypathizing clouded blue eyes. Her long ebony claws slid out and dug themselves into the earth as another pang zig-zagged up her spine like a lightning bolt of pure fire. This time, though, she could not contain her ruffled yowl. Though short, it was sure to attract attention. Looking around, Abyssbird let out the air building in her chest as she held her breath. Dustedrose still slept, and Flamingarrow had left. No one had been disturbed, now if only this pain would cease! Writhing in her nest, the obsidian she-cat finally settled, and rested her head on her paws, hearing Serenewinter's name outside and frowned. Now that was the last thing she wanted.

Hearing the yowl quickly snapped the tom out of his trance he had fallen into by seeing Serenewinter here in camp. His eyes widened and he looked at the two she-cats beside him. "Abyssbird.." He whispered slightly alarmed. Oh please let her be all right! The thought in his mind was sharp and abrupt. He couldn't believe he had actually thought that. The tom was beginning to think that he loved the she-cat. Maybe he did actually love the she-cat. "I have to go see if she's all right..." He spoke rapidly and dashed to the Nursery, not caring now if Serenewinter put two and two together. Flying into the Nursery he let a loud sigh out. He had been holding his breath all the way to the Nursery. Reaching her he pressed his nose to her pelt, breathing out and in deeply. "You're alright." He whispered with a very caring tone. Realizing he had just done those actions and said those words he mentally hit himself. But now he had already done it and he didn't want to take it back. It felt good to actually release emotions. Sighing he pulled away to survey the ebony she-cat.

a b y s s b i r d - - - [ <3 ] Though her slight, delicate bodice was shivering away the pain now, growing acustomed to the jolts, now falling into a pattern, she still had a fearful mask covering her beautiful features. Suddenly, her head snapped up. Hearing frantic pawsteps and her name in such a concerned manner, at first she expected Northwind or Chasmriver to bolt in, but as her eyes took in the bright sunlight shining through the entrance, the recognized than silky tom, his long limbs and nimbly lean frame. "Darkfog...?" Her whisper was faint, and slightly confused, her teal lights gazing up at him until she found her full voice, which she hadnt used since Lynxstar visited the day before. "Darkfog!" She squeaked, stretching her neck too rasp her tongue over his chest happily, leaning back again and emiting a rough purr. "You can feel them moving." She murmured softly, turning to stare proudly at her swollen belly. He was here. He was here. He wanted her, he cared. For a moment, her eyes welled up, until she blinked away the happy tears. Kittens inside her must be flipping her emotions around, she was the replacement Serenewinter, remember? This was all a game. They were playing happy family until final word of his real mate came. She'd be alone then. But gazing up into his broad silver face, beaming down at her, she wondered if that was really true.
c h a s m r i v e r - - - [ <3 ] Dont back down now, idiot! You're gonna let her get away with that? His brilliant orange eyes burst into a crackling blaze suddenly at her words. What was wrong with her? It takes two to tango, honey! He wanted to scream in her ear, but only pinned his ears against the nape of his neck and lifted his whisker pads in a silent snarl. His top lip twitching slightly, wishing more than anything that she'd run back to her beloved Knife. Chasmriver's dancing conscious paused for a moment as his rusty, icy words gushed from his lips like a cobra spitting his poison. "Look, Flamingarrow, get over it, would you? You'd been swooning over me for moons, and I gave you what you wanted. Look, you can have your own mini-Chasmrivers. Maybe that should please you if you're gonna get so upset that I dont wanna be with you, bitch." His fangs flashed at they sparked in the sunlight when he pulled his lips up, then shook his head, glancing at Northwind and Butterflywing, who he noticed for the first time, and snorted softly, attempting to infuse dry humor into his still tensed voice. "Huh, queens! So hormonal. Eheh." The massive tabby let out an awkward chuckle, and turned, just after spitting at Flamingarrow's paws with a glare, then pivoted fully and broke into a brisk lope into the warrior's den, safely away from her. It seemed everytime he left camp or even left her side, he idiotically forgot how horrible she was. Shaking his head slwoly, Chasmriver found his own nest beneath the pine, needles scraping his back, and plopped down, eyes still narrowed and glaring her way.

Purring softly as she reached to lick his chest he stared at her with concern. "Don't hurt yourself now." He laughed softly before realizing just how caring he was being and how easy it was to be around Abyssbird. But there was Serenewinter, and he could also be this way around her. However it had been Abyssbird who had made him this way. Something he would always thank her for. He was happy to release his emotions. It felt good to do that. Hearing about the kits moving he smiled lightly, easing himself to the ground. His head was placed delicately against against her swollen stomach. Feeling a kit move he smiled softly and stared into the eyes of the she-cat who was carrying his kits. Getting to his paws he looked at the den entrance and walked towards it. Peeking his head out of the den he called to Cloverspring. "If Lynxstar needs me or if somebody else does, I'll be with Abyssbird." His voice was soft and raspy as he returned to Abyssbird's side. He let himself lay behind her, his body larger than hers and forming an arch around her already curved bodice. His tail brushed against hers and he smiled lightly. He would sleep here if he had to, for he would not leave Abyssbird's side unless necessary.
--
Dustmask woke, stretching and sighing as he heard commotion outside of the den. Walking towards the light he emerged and smiled lightly as he saw a face he hadn't seen in quite awhile. "Hello Serenewinter. Cloverspring. " He smiled searching for a she-cat he had seen earlier but couldn't find now. And then there she was. "Butterflywing..." He mewed dipping his head to the she-cat. Smiling softly he realized she had to be one of the cats he was closest to. One of the cats he was protective over for the fact that they were good friends. Something he had worked hard to achieve.
