at last! spring seemed to have fully sprung, and the signs were all around. take, for instance, the kits popping out of she-cats everywhere one looked. or perhaps the tiger lilies and daffodils painting the landscape brilliantly warm hues. the water ran fast and warm and not a snowflake was to be found for miles around! yes spring was glorious to some but it was certainly difficult to enjoy the beautiful season when there were small devils screaming in your ear, flitting over head, or lurking in the brush no matter where you turned. they left traces, too, to keep onlookers from forgetting their ever-daunting presence.
the tom, of course, spat ruefully at a brilliant cerulean feather, brightly colored like poison, that fluttered along the lazy, warm breeze, like a missile as it followed him. in a panic, he blew at it as if it were a hot coal and it puffed harmlessly away, off to torment some other poor beast. for some reason no one really cared but he knew. oh he knew.
but the sun was warming his tabby-striped pelt just brilliantly- exactly what he wanted as he wandered alone in the new land he was now calling home. he didnt mind the constant chaos, but still! it was splendid to finally have a cozy nest to sleep in, and the new lands were stunning! not too different from zephyrclan, but they were much closer to a lake now, and the moor was so golden he pretended to be walking on the sun. of course, the sun was terribly hot as everyone could assume, so rabbitnose was having quite an exciting time as he hop-skipped through the tall maize-colored grasses, yelping. "ow! ouch!" he hissed and spat as the sun's surface burned his tender paws.
hehehehe smashmouth title i'm sorry but i couldnt resist

her tail flicked dismissively as she waltzed through the sea of idiots excitedly roaming the camp. how exciting could that possibly be? the territory was far more exciting and new, rather than the familiar images of clanmates sharing tongues and small bits of gossip, corralling the new barrage of kits and apprentices as they wandered about in the springtime sun. sighing as her legs carried her restless body out of the cage of a camp, she quickly picked up her pace, soon racing across the grassland as she had for her entire life, though, of course, this new land was entirely new.
the sun was bright and her golden eyes squinted as she watched birds lazily fly above them, their fallen feathers decorating the tall grasses around her. orioleflash felt at home, and happily paused to admire all of the new things around her. a small flicker of a smile flashed across her face before the hissing voice of another cat caught in her ears. whiskers twitching, she turned about, locating the source of said voice. it was none other than her tabby-pelted clanmate, rabbitnose, and she couldn't help but scowl as she began to approach him.
she watched him curiously, frowning a bit, before speaking up. "uhm, are you alright?" she asked skeptically, her tail dashing back and forth. "you haven't gotten yourself into trouble already, have you?" the calico retorted, not quite as sharply as usual. so far he hadn't done anything too annoying, and hey, maybe a new friend or two wouldn't kill the prickly girl afterall.

"eep! ooh!" bounce, bounce, bounce. comically similar to his namesake, rabbitnose bounced gleefully, tail-lengths at a time, through the tall prairie grass. "yipes!" it was getting kinda hard to think of new distressed noises to yell into the vast terrain of rolling hills, sometimes loud enough he could hear an echo bouncing into the foliage and back at him. it had probably been a few minutes now of bouncing and he was getting tired of pretending to burn his paws, so he keeled over onto his side in the soft shining grass with a hefty thump. as soon as he flopped, though, he heard a familiar voice hollering at him and he popped right up again. "orioleflash!" he crowed. he thought her name sufficient for her personality, considering both she and the orange-and-black menaces she was named after were quite scary.
"me? alright? utter nonsense! crazy lass." rabbitnose laughed, sitting down in order to kick at an itch behind his left ear. then he shook out his pelt and cocked his head quizzically. "trouble? nah..... not really. I'm pretty good at staying out of trouble. i'm a likable fella, dontcha know! I dont do trouble. dontcha think this territory looks like the sun? ouch!" he bounced like he was burnt one last time, in order to demonstrate what he had been doing when she had approached. "it's gorgeous, too. you look nice in the sun too! very colorful. everything looks nice in the spring. not to say you don't like nice the rest of the year or whatever but your fur is very colorful when its this bright out. heck, I even look colorful and I'm brown! excellent." the tabby bobbed his head, "yep this time of year nothin could get me down! except like a plague of sickness or war or something but otherwise! nothin!"

'there is something seriously wrong with that boy.' she thought to herself, her face contorted in a befuddled expression. as he cried out her name she looked a bit worriedly at him, as if she were pondering his sanity. "rabbitnose?" orioleflash smirked slightly as he mentioned that the territory looked like the sun, and she couldn't help but agree. "yes, i can see that. frankly, i can't wait to visit the lake. and the flowers are also quite pretty." the hardened she-cat murmured, looking around her.
as the tabby tom bounced about once more, orioleflash herself jumped. "dear starclan! it's rude to startle a cat, y'know!" she snapped, glaring at him before regaining a bit of the coolness she had possessed. and with that, he was off to the races again, his mouth running faster than the calico could register most of what was being said. when he complimented her she looked at him curiously with slightly narrowed eyes. "i - er, well - thank...you?" she stammered, interupting him slightly. "ex-excellent, yeah, sure." she muttered, wondering if the mad tom would ever quit speaking. "so, how far have you explored?" she asked, though she wondered, with a frown present upon her face, if by doing so was a mistake.

"turn that frown upside down sister!" he snapped at his clanmate with a peal of laughter, pure mirth glittering in his rather unremarkable but somehow terribly appealing green gaze. of course nothing about rabbitnose's appearance screamed 'look at me! see how handsome i am!?' nothing at all, but perhaps it was his ridiculous attitude and ever-gleaming good-natured grin that gave his looks a little something that so many lacked. regardless of his plain tabby coat and olive eyes it was easy for the warrior to stand out in a crowd. then again, perhaps that was just thanks to his habit of becoming rather loud when excited, and when he was in a crowd he was certainly excited!
"the lake! yes," the enthusiastic tomcat nodded until he was dizzy, then made a show of falling over rather dramatically all over again. of course, like a restless kitten, he had no trouble popping right back up out of the grass. "would you care to join me on a stroll to ye old lake m'lady?" he inquired pompously, jutting out a foreleg in order to give a very 'majestic' bow to the she-cat. "i beseech you madam!" he added, his old grin peaking through his theatrical mask until it had faded away altogether. he could never stay 'in character' for long. perhaps too short of an attention span. "actually i really have hardly explored at all! I mean besides settling borders, kinda, and all that. we've all been way too busy getting a decent camp put together and looking after everyone and such!"
"woops! didn't mean to give you a fright my dear lass, but dontcha know I run on sun power! the warmer and brighter the weather is the more i come alive. like, i dont know, a flower. you could call me a flower i suppose," he meowed, winking roguishly because he was quite the opposite of a flower, delicate as his slender limbs may be. at her inquiry, he shrugged. "i dunno, not much like i said! I mean its been hard to slip away. i still go running every morning but i'm, you know, running. and i've been in a few patrols obviously. i haven't seen much cool stuff though. lotsa hills, grass, a couple deadish trees. what about you? let's go to the lake!" his act of jumping around on the sun seemed to have rejuvenated itself, or perhaps he was on to pretending to be a frog hopping about, but once more he sprang off, now beckoning orioleflash to join him with a waving tail. "onward!"

'don't tell me what to do!' she snapped silently in her head, clenching her jaws shut tightly, hiding it with an awkward expression on her face. as he theatrically fell down once more, orioleflash raised a brow at him. was there something seriously wrong with this tom? "i, er, yes. i suppose." was the small calico's reply, though she couldn't help but feel a tad bit uncomfortable. as he bowed down and reached a paw out to her, she couldn't help but laugh. "you're mad." she replied, chortling some more before eyeing him cautiously once more. "i've barely had a chance to either." she answered with a nod, before casting her saffron-colored gaze over the tabby tom.
his looks were rather calm and the same went for his tame eyes. however, on the inside, this tom was either on the verge of insanity or he was just overly pleasant to, well, be around. however uncomfortable he made orioleflash feel, she didn't feel as if she'd ever be left out around him, and that couldn't be a bad thing, could it? her attention returned to him as he apologized, but the she-cat just shook her head. "it's all right." she murmured, before snapping quickly. "just don't do it again!" as he ranted on once more, she let herself truly listen to him, though his version of the territory seemed about the same as hers from all that she had seen thus far. "yes, the lake." she muttered, following after him as he declared, 'onward!'
