"One last touch and then you'll go, and we'll pretend that it meant so much more."
Arcticlight slumped to the cold ground, feeling its clammy touch through her thick white pelt. It had been a long, hard trip for the medicine cat, whose paws were strong and rough but whose body was greatly weakened from disuse. It was hard for the apprentices, and even more so the pregnant warriors, but she had had just about as much struggle as they. It had never been a problem before; she was lean and traversing Vertigoclan territory kept her muscles tightened up. But she was still a healer, and she wasn't used to going long distances. The rest of the journey was sure to be hellish as well: she hoped they would find somewhere to settle soon, but this was just the first rest, and it didn't seem likely. There was no chance of the clans all staying in these dark, wet caves for very long. She didn't know if they could even make it a few days without snapping at each other's throats. Hostility radiated out from Tempestclan in particular, whose leader and deputy were about as agreeable as a pair of mated badgers with their tails on fire. Not even taking into consideration the fact that the two seemed unusually out of sync with each other, and were rarely seen together.
How can we make it through these difficult times if a deputy and leader can't even work as a team? she wondered, laying her head upon her paws and watching shadows play on the cavernous walls where they'd made camp. She didn't like the place. It was dim, and rain echoed through it as it poured down, entering through cracks in the roof. It was a bit like being inside of a waterfall, but something was ominous- just plain spooky, really- about it. Perhaps it was the closeness of the sky, elevated as they were, and thus the closeness of their ever-silent warrior ancestors. It did nothing to ease Arcticlight's mind that a medicine cat was absent, and Celestialclan's leader and deputy vanished, no one having any idea where they'd gone. Did Starclan demolish Celestialclan, as punishment? But for what? She longed for contact with her starry-furred mentor, Pomegranatefur. To hear his reassuring voice, press against his side even knowing it wasn't real flesh and fur she felt, breathe in his familiar scent. If only he were here with us.

not only was he pissed, but he was thoroughly embarrased. and if anything, that was much, much worse. in fact, his embarrassment was most certainly what had caused his anger. regardless, he knew he needed to see a medicine cat and fast, but starclan above if he passed a group of cats he just knew they would rush up to him ask what happened, et cetera. he flinched at the thought of that kind of attention. was there a way to discreetly find a healer of some sort? hell, he didn't care what clan as long as they patched him up and let him alone. the big tom glanced down at th long gash that tore down his foreleg from shoulder to ankle. it was ugly, and it was bleeding- matting his thick, coarse tabby fur. though he prided himself in being swift for his size, he had taken quite the tumble with a dangerous misstep among the unfamiliar mountainous terrain. a bit of something, stone or wood, that had been jutting out before him bit deep into his flesh as he fell forward and resulted in quite an impressive wound. it was a shame there wasn't a more tremendous cause for it than tripping. his ears flushed pink with the frustrated blush that passed over his broad, dark face. well, he couldn't stay here and think it over much longer or he'd be in real trouble. closing his eyes, thistlefang gave a deep sigh and fell into a steady gait toward camp. best to just make a run for it, he thought.
making it inside without passing too many, this was the real gauntlet, but he managed to simply disregard the cats who cast him curious stares and pelted straight for the small pallid form of none other than arcticlight. slowing as he approached her, sure that the scent of blood would alert her of a patient. finally, he stopped before her and cleared his throat, sitting down and lifting the injured forepaw, sheepishly casting his forest-green gaze downward. he didn't think she needed instructions- this was what she was trained for. best just let the expert do her business.
//woops, short. thistlefang's debut hahaha

"One last touch and then you'll go, and we'll pretend that it meant so much more."
Arcticlight was lost in her thoughts, when the smell of blood wrapped around her in a heavy cloud and she glanced up. There was a tom coming toward her, and it was none other than her clan mate, Thistlefang. She didn't bother to ask what the trouble was; it was obvious, the little trail of scarlet splattering here and there, the dark red flesh that was shockingly apparent to her green eyes. "Well, Thistlefang, it's a damn good thing there's so many spiders in these caverns," the white medicine cat said lowly, turning to the rock wall and thrusting her head into the opening. Her nose bumped against something hard, and she sank her teeth down on the stick, pulling it into view.
Unfortunately, she didn't know enough about the herbs in this elevation to make a poultice for the warrior's leg. Hopefully just the cobweb wrapping would be enough, if she used all that she had. Arcticlight gauged that she would have just a little more than she absolutely needed, but she wasn't stringent with these supplies, especially in light of the conditions. Very soon Thistlefang's wound was covered in the gauzy stuff, and the long, thin stick was bare. "You'll need to be very careful with this so it doesn't get infected. It would be best if you moved about as little as possible until we're travelling again." Arcticlight sighed, looking the tom over for any other damage. "Anything else? How's everyone holding up?"
