one night of the hunter, one day i will get revenge,
one night to remember, one day it'll all just end
one night to remember, one day it'll all just end
Wandering about on his own had certainly lost its rebellious feeling. Apprentices weren’t normally allowed out of camp for very long by themselves although it had never stopped him. He had to come out here and be alone so he could have some time to himself to resent the world and why it was such a cruel place. Maybe nobody bothered to scold him for wandering off because they would be glad if they did, after all nobody wanted Shard’s blood in their clan. However, since the world was so conceited nobody took a moment to consider how he felt. He was related to that...that thing. That horrible, disgusting, black mass of fur that still claimed to be a cat, but it wasn’t possible. No. Shard was a monster, never a feline. Cats were more often than not proud creatures for it was in their nature, where as that moggy had nothing to be proud of and he would take pleasure in watching it shrivel up and die, then fester away in the mud without being buried. After all, only cats that had earned it by serving a clan well or even a group of friends deserved a proper burial. That thing deserved nothing and nobody. He would die.
One plus side of the snow was that he could now stay hidden better than any of his clan mates where as they all stuck out like a sore pad. His stomach churned and groaned like a heavy willow billowing in the wind, and it continued to churn despite there was nothing inside it apart from a little liquid. With noises like that all the prey was going to end up getting spooked and running a mile, it was no surprise very little prey was being caught when most of the clan was experiencing the same thing he was. In that moment he decided to be selfish because every now and then everyone needed to be a little selfish in order to please themselves and currently Wraithlight felt like a drowned rat, mentally of course. Sneaking off he was sure to keep low to the ground and his senses on high alert. Pausing by a tree and pressing himself up against its snow blanketed trunk he waited, and waited. However, running out of patience he quickly moved on.
Frowning he paused to scent the air, both head and tail held high as he hoped something would come to him. It was at that moment that his fur began to bristle and his cinnamon coloured eyes narrowed. Cat. He could scent a cat and he was absolutely certain that it was not a Vertigoclan cat. Maybe today would be his lucky day. Crouching behind a tree he scented the air again to work out where the feline was, his claws itching to slip from their sheathes. Noticing the scent begin to grow stronger he stayed put as he waited for it to pass. As a white shape slipped past his hiding place he growled and lunged at it, pinning it to the ground with his claws. ”Really? You thought you could just wander onto Vertigoclan territory without getting an ass beating for it.” He snarled at the trespasser waiting for the white female to turn and face him as she should. If a cat had enough arrogance to wander into another’s territory unannounced then it could surely face the consequences.
A force hit her from the side and sent her flying towards the ground and she tensed her lithe body upon impact with the frozen ground. A growl rose in her throat as she felt claws nipping at her skin to hold her down. Bearing her fangs she turned and spat at the tom that was holding her down. ”Excuse me, but I thought-“ The female started but broke of as her brilliant teal eyes met deep cinnamon ones and she stopped her struggling. ”Wraithy! You should know better than to attack me, I will kick your ass you know.” She hissed playfully and upon feeling his grip relax she bowled over the lean white tom and flicked snow in his face with a paw. She crouched in a pouncing position ready for a mock fight but stopped and frowned when she saw the bemused expression worn on her sibling’s features. Standing up straight she tilted her head to the side and gazed upon him with innocent eyes. ”What? Are you not happy to see me?” She asked, a small tremble in her tone.
”What are you doing here?” The muscular tom hissed at the smaller feline, stepping forward to force her into submission.
Shiver blinked, sadness present in her gaze and she bowed her head slightly and took a step back. ”Am I not allowed to come and visit my only sibling?” She asked gently appearing innocent. He couldn’t refuse her if she had done nothing wrong and even if she did not fool her brother then she could still fool the rest of his clan. ”Especially when I have nowhere else to go.” She added quietly.
”Ah ok so you admit it then – I am correct and Shard doesn’t care about anything but himself and you can’t take it any longer.” He purred in triumph.
”No – well, yes.” She responded, a little flustered at having to admit she was wrong. ”He was good to me for a long time, he has just found something else to amuse himself with and well if you refuse to talk to me I will join regardless, as long as your leader agrees which I am sure they will.” She responded, holding her head high and glaring up at her big brother.
Wraithlight glared right back at his sister before turning away and taking a few steps in the other direction. ”You know I don’t like being second choice.” He snarled, his gaze piercing as he did. He was waiting for her to respond, expecting some crap excuse that made her seem better than him but nothing else came and she fell quiet for once in her life.
