The wind was blowing softly today but seeing as it was still cold out even the smallest gust bit into your skin. The sky over Zephyr territory was covered with a sea of grey clouds that promised of snow later on. She wasn’t sure but it had to be about sun high by now but since she couldn’t see the sun it was hard to tell. Having the sun covered also meant the area hadn’t warmed up at all and the frost that had been spread over the ground that night kept its grip on each blade of grass. Returning to the camp was something Slientsnow didn’t want to do at the moment. However she was utterly exhausted and didn’t have much of a choice. She had been around just about each area of the Zephyr territory and only had one scrawny mouse to show for it. Her thick tail dropped down wards as she entered home and her ears lowered obviously indicating she was uncomfortable. She headed to the fresh kill pile and dropped her only offering feeling her stomach twist with regret. Sighing quietly to herself she turned around and picked out a patch of grass to lie on and rest her muscles. After finding an area deemed good enough Silentsnow collapsed on her side with a huff. She stretched momentarily before going limp and listening to the sound of cats stepping on grass and mewing on the topics of that day. Opening her big blue eyes she watched the frost on the grass in front of her muzzle melt away with the exhale of her breath. The thought of not being able to get more for this morning’s hunt was still on her mind and she rhythmically thudded her tail on the ground as she got more and more ashamed of herself. ‘Maybe I should go on the evenings hunt as well to make up for it…’ she thought her eyes dropping.

LIE AWAKE IN BED AT NIGHT• AND THINK ABOUT YOUR LIFE •DO YOU WANT TO BE DIFFERENT? watch me carefully my thoughts are still my own if i speak, it's likely important The winter season needed to make up it's mind whether or not it was waning, and preferably soon. There were some days that were pleasantly warm, when all cats could look on hopefully for a turn in the weather towards sun and good prey; and then there were days like this one, dank and overcast, generally unpleasant. The moor's constant gusts weren't always bad, but when said winds pelted a cat a stripped them of any heat they could be potentially dangerous. Truly, it would be best if every cat could just go into a deep sleep like the many smaller animals they hunted. Sadly such was not the case. A warm bed of moss, feathers, and down was ever-enticing, but the clan came first, and that meant trudging out of bed each day to hunt and patrol.
Havocstar was doing his best to appear strong for the clan - after all, what good would it be for his warriors to see their leader looking downcast and weak? However, an empty stomach and thin coat made things rather uncomfortable. Loping quietly through the camp with frost-laden grass crunching under foot, the old tom couldn't help but look upon some of his thicker pelted clanmates with some amount of envy. His own pelt, while interesting with its rather spiky look, did little to keep out the biting cold. More often than not the tom wondered whether he'd rather be the way he was, or be the ugliest -but warmest, thick-furred- cat in all of the clans. Whatever the case, the tabby knew better than to linger on the possibilities and simply accept what Starclan and fate had granted him. He couldn't help but linger on how much longer the weather would remain so inclement, though. He wandered to the fresh-kill pile to see how well hunting was going, and frowned at the sight of a few scrawny mice and a bird, a trickle of worry knotting his stomach. It wouldn't do to have so little food, but Zephyrclan could only be stretched so thin. 'Dilemna, dilemna.' Leaning down to sniff the prey, he sifted through the mixed smells of prey and cat to find the most recent visitor to bring an offering. 'Ahh, Silentsnow.' Raising his head, the tom let his golden-coloured gaze drift across the camp until he spotted a bengal pelt. The she-cat looked mournful, if the way she lay sprawled across the turf was any indication of mood; he could guess as to what was dampening her spirits.
Havocstar drifted over, quiet, but careful to announce his approach with easily heard pawsteps across frozen grass and slush. A pleasant look settled on his face as he drifted closer, the last thing he wanted was for Silentsnow to think him angry for the poor hunt. "Rough start to the day, then?" He asked gently, pausing a few mouselengths from the younger feline. His head was cocked slightly to one side as he waited for a reply.

Dark blue eyes wandered over the camp site. Today was going to drag on, she could feel it already. It seemed as if the weather had gotten to every cat as they all seemed to be sluggish in their own ways. The crunch of frost stiff grass made her ears twitch and swivel sideways. She lifted her silver head to look at the cat approaching her, Havocstar, the clan leader.
“Rough start to the day, then?” he asked softly, head tilting. She quickly sat up and dipped her head in respect before anything else having not really expected him to come over and start a chat. “Oh, hello there, Havocstar.” But perhaps he only wanted to know what the grounds around the clan looked like? Kneading the hard ground she mewled softly “Y-yes, there wasn’t much out this morning. I was thinking of going on the evening patrol…” she suggested trailing off a little. He didn’t seem upset with her for not bringing more prey back, but still she couldn’t help but worry that he was disappointed with her. She looked to his gold colored eyes for any signs of disapproval or any other negative feelings towards the young she-cat. After finding none the silver bangle felt a little better, only a little, after all she could be wrong, and comfortably wrapped her thick tail around her paws, ears perked to the clan leader to see what he thought about her going with the evening patrol as well.

The cat felt a true smile lifting onto his face as the young warrior's head rose in his response to his pawsteps and he caught a glimpse of worry in her eyes. It was hard to say what was so amusing about seeing cats worry about their success, perhaps he couldn't help but laugh because he found it odd that so many of his clan feared he would be dissatisfied if they had trouble fetching in enough prey. It was worrisome, true, and it would not bode well for the clan if this constantly happened, but there was no reason for the leader to grow angry so long as he knew that others weren't simply being lazy and not trying their hardest. It was early in the day, though, and he would worry about whether or not there was enough food than more hunting patrols came back. For now, he found himself suppressing a chuckle as Silentsnow sat up and pressed down on the ground nervously. “Y-yes, there wasn’t much out this morning. He nodded, understanding clear on his face. "Sometimes the prey runs poorly, we're all hit by a spot of bad luck now and then," he mewed with a casual flick of his tail. A rush of pride surged through the old male as the silver she-cat offered up her services for the evening patrol, as though she wasn't likely exhausted already from prowling about the moors for Starclan-knows how long.
"Do you think you'll be able to handle heading out tonight?" Havocstar caught himself a moment too late, the words already out before he could think about how the phrase might be taken the wrong way. "I don't mean to say you're incapable, of course," he added quickly, "Only that I advise you don't push yourself too far and end up performing worse rather than bringing back more prey." He bit back a grimace, hoping his slip of the tongue hadn't spoiled the entire conversation.

Silentsnow let off a soft, almost inaudible purr as it seemed Havocstar really wasn’t angry with her. She felt better about this morning’s poor hunt and lifted her head a little higher. However, her leader’s next words made her ears lower a little. "Do you think you'll be able to handle heading out tonight?" She looked over her silver and black pelt which she hadn’t groomed yet. Perhaps she looked more exhausted then she had originally thought. Her normally sleek pelt was fluffed up in random areas as if she had tried walking through the woods backwards. It also had traces of dirt and a leaf, which she quickly flicked off with her tail before re-wrapping it around her. She hadn’t realized just how horrid she truly looked. Cleaning up wasn’t really what had been on her mind when she came back to camp. Before she got the chance to respond he quickly added on that he didn’t mean that she couldn’t, just that he didn’t want to push too hard. She looked back up to him with a genuine smile “Well,” she started her smile fading into a nervous one “at the moment I feel pretty worn out,” she admitted “but I’m sure I’ll be ready to go by the evening.” She reassured him, the smile returning. After all she was still young and had plenty of energy to spare, but she got the feeling come morning her muscles were going to be screaming at her. She looked up at the gray colored sky “I just hope the weather clears by that time, so the prey will wish to sun or scavenge.” She commented. Though that didn’t look to be the case, one could always hope, right? She looked back down and around the camp wondering who the evening patrol was going to be. Well, she had the leader here might as well ask before he left. Awkwardly ”Ah…Who is going on the evening patrol…?" She asked softly.
