The grass felt coarse underpaw. A blast of cold air ruffled BlueFire's pelt, making her fluff it up. Leaf-Bare was setting in. She had just left the camp to go hunting. She suddenly spotted a minnow in the river. She got ready to hook it when a rustle then a splash scared it away. She looked up, angered that someone had scared away a possible meal. Her eyes glared as she scanned the area and sniffed the air for any other cats. She thought, "If I had a mate, we would have three kits. They would be Reedkit, Dovekit, and Fishkit. Yes, those are fine names indeed." She continued to scan the area for any signs of other cats. She heard another rustle, this time in the bushes behind her. She tensed her body, ready for an attack. She was alone with no other cat to aid her if she was attacked.

"Whoa, whoa," Rabbitnose emerged from the light brush that usually cropped up closest to the lake and surrounding tributaries. "Whoa," He repeated with a light chuckle, flicking his tail lightly in his characteristically good-natured way. With a friendly skip to his gait, the warrior flounced up to the riverbank beside his clanmate, purring contently. "What are you so on-edge about? Seen a ghost or what?" He asked with a laugh, flickingher over the ear gently with the tip of his ringed tail.
The leggy brown tabby moved several steps away from her and crouched down over the stream, tail to the air, and wiggling his hind end enthusiastically, though he knew he could never actually catch a fish. He liked to try anyway, and what was the harm? Carefully, he reached across and patted the thin ice with his claws, breaking it away to reveal the tiny fish beneath. Rather hopelessly, he drove his paw into the frigid water, batting around for some prey. Of course, he came up with nothing. He wasn't disheartened though. Green eyes sparkling playfully, Rabbitnose turned back to Bluefire and shrugged, shakin his head. "Oh well, maybe next time I guess. I'm way better at catching land animals. Like rabbits!" He meowed, chatty and excited as usual.

"Oh, it's just you. Hi Rabbitnose. I thought that you were a Tempestclan cat. Thank Starclan you weren't!" I watched him as he attempted to catch a fish. "Better luck next time." I mewled as he came up with nothing. I was glad to have company. "So, do you want to take a walk?" I asked. I kind of had a crush on him. My eyes shone with playfulness and love for the brown tabby tom. "

Ooc; Bluefire, you have to post in third-person. Infernochaser padded steadily through the undergrowth, making barely a sound except for rustling the grass as she pushed out of her way. It didn't take the she-cat much effort to blend in, hiding among the vegetation. She had gone out for a simple walk, maybe to catch a little something to bring back for the fresh-kill pile, but she came out only for a walk. But if something came up that was worth checking out, she would waste no time in finding out what it was. So, when voices reached her ears, she approached quietly, listening, watching. She saw two of her clan-mates, Rabbitnose and Bluefire speaking with each other. Infernochaser watched in mild amusement as Rabbitnose made an attempt to fish.
"Rabbitnose, Bluefire," Infernochaser greeted as she straightened up and stepped forward. She glanced at Rabbitnose with an arched brow as he made an attempt to fish. She cast her olive gaze upwards. "Mind you don't catch a cold, Rabbitnose, the weather isn’t very nice today," she said, her tail twitching with satisfaction. She knew that whatever the situation, Rabbitnose would be doing something to entertain himself and anyone else around. "Oh, it's just you. Hi Rabbitnose. I thought that you were a Tempestclan cat. Thank Starclan you weren't!" Infernochaser snorted. "Tempestclan? I tell you, you would know their scent from many fox-lengths away if it was one of them," she chuckled quietly. She looked back at them with a little smile. "So, how are we today" she asked pleasantly. She didn’t necessarily want to know how they were, but it seemed rude not to ask after barging in on them.

BlueFire turned around. "Oh, hi InfernoChaser." Her sensitive ears picked up something that she was sure the sandy she-cat didn't want her to hear. "Tempestclan? I tell you, you would know their scent from many fox-lengths away if it was one of them." The tabby she-cat faced Infernochaser. "My sense of smell is not the best in Zephyrclan." she informed her. She turned back to Rabbitnose. "So, what do you want to do? Hunt, climb, or walk around?" her eyes still shone with affection for Rabbitnose. She hoped that the new clan deputy didn't see that. "Oh, and Infernochaser, you can come too if you want. I heard that you were named deputy! Congratulations!" she said bowing her head to the sandy she-cat, trying to be as polite and respectful as possible. The recently named deputy wasn't her favorite cat in the clan. "Oh, I am fine." BlueFire responded to infernochaser's question. She could detect an edge in the she-cat's mew. "What's up with her?" the grey she-cat thought.

Rabbitnose scrunched up his nose playfully, pushing his whiskers forward in a faint little smile as he gave a distracted, belated response to her intial greeting, "Good afternoon, Miss Bluefire." He addressed her formally, dipping his head in an over-the-top gesture of respect to a superior, though of course Bluefire ranked no higher than he, and since he was quite a few moons older than her, the salutation seemed all the more out of place. However, it was just a joke of course, as his silly and jesting ways were perhaps his most prominent trademark-- the traits that everyone knew him by.
"A TempestClan cat?" He snorted, feigning an insulted expression, "How dare you! I'm far more appealing than any of those smell swamp-walkers!" He chuckled, curling his tailtip as he shook any excess moisture off of his forepaw, before it could freeze. So do you want to take a walk? The leggy fellow heard what his clanmate had said, but didn't have a moment's notice to respond before another presense assaulted his senses, interupting his thoughts.
"Ah! If it isn't our high and mighty new deputy!" Rabbitnose practically caterwauled his enthusiastic greeting, closing the distance between he and the russet newcomer in a few strides to flick her shoulder with his tail tip in a respectful, congratulating manner. "Way to go, might I add? Not everycat's got the guts to be second in command, but I'm sure you and Havocf- star will make an excellent team. ...If I do say so myself," The tabby brushed off her comment about the weather, bobbed his head in agreement about TempestClan's obvious odor, and addressed her latter words instead, a grin adorning his broad visage as he spoke.
"We're doing just grand, actually. I think we were gonna go for a walk together, would you be interested? The more the merrier!" He shot Bluefire a friendly wink, as if sharing a joke, though there was nothing of the sort going about, he just couldn't help but act a fool sometimes. It was better that way, when everyone benefitted from his kitlike ways. "Well let's go then!"

"Ah! If it isn't our high and mighty new deputy!" Infernochaser's expression was one of surprise and amusement as he approached her. Her brows shot up as he yowled out his words. She inclined her head in acknowledgement. "How kind of you to notice," she mewed, smirking good-naturedly. She didn't miss the warm look Bluefire gave Rabbitnose, but passed no remarks on it. The she-cat nodded graciously at their words on her becoming deputy. When Hallowstar had made her deputy, she didn’t act shocked, but she certainly was. "Thank you," she replied, grinning at both Bluefire and Rabbitnose. Yet, she could sense right away the negative vibes coming from Bluefire, all directed at her. Infernochaser narrowed her eyes at the other she-cat for a brief moment while her gaze was on Rabbitnose. But the sandy cat carried on as normal, acting oblivious to the other she-cat’s behavior. She couldn't do much if someone didn't like her. And she wasn't about to go out of her way to make Bluefire change her opinion. She twitched her whiskers impartially, but that was the only reaction she gave.
"That's good to hear," she said airily when they both deemed themselves ‘fine’ and ‘grand’. I think we were gonna go for a walk together, would you be interested? Weren't they all out for a walk already? Infernochaser nodded. "I'll tag along with ye," she decided. "Well let's go then!" Infernochaser chuckled. How could one cat be so cheerful and oblivious? Rabbitnose, though great company, wasn’t very sensitive to what was happening around him. And he was happy in his ignorance, after all, ignorance was bliss. “Yes, let’s,” she said agreeably with a puff of breath as she walked onward. This would be fun. With sour-puss and happy-go-lucky for company, what could go wrong? She smiled to herself at the prospect of how this outing would end. She was sure she would enjoy their little trip thoroughly.

Bluefire led the way into the forest taking them nowhere in particular. "If Infernochaser is going to be my deputy, I got to learn to appreciate her, weather I want to of not." she thought. She ran up to the tan she-cat. "Hey, sorry if I gave you a negative look earlier. I just, don't trust strangers.... I.... don't want you to get the wrong idea...." She didn't know what to say. She thought for sure that she might get cuffed on the ear. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to be rude or anything." she mewed quietly, while looking at her paws in shame.

Infernochaser didn't bat an eye lid when the other she-cat came running up to her, her muscles tensed, preparing to leap out of the way if she needed, but her face remained expressionless as she gazed straight back at the other cat. When Bluefire's innocent intentions became clear, she relaxed. By Starclan, she was jumpy! "Hey, sorry if I gave you a negative look earlier. I just, don't trust strangers.... I.... don't want you to get the wrong idea...." She was the deputy of the same clan as this female, yet she had just called her a stranger? Now that was not something you heard every day. "I'm not a stranger," she laughed lightheartedly. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to be rude or anything." The sandy she-cat rolled her eyes amiably. "Right, I'll take your word for it," she mewed hastily with a raised brow as she sidestepped her. She grinned at nothing in particular as she walked onward.
The bush thinned the further they walked; they were in one of the patches of wood scattered across Zephyrclan's moors. The weather, grey and overcast, was so dull that it surprised Infernochaser that Rabbitnose could be quite so cheerful today. Winter was not her favourite season. The prey was scarce and the cold biting. Not only that, but everything seemed to lack colour; everything seemed quite dull. Infernochaser's light paws travelled over the cold, hard ground easily in a slow trot alongside her companions. Her tail dipped and bobbed as she moved, always hovering just above the ground. As she went along, she noticed that the scents of the moors were faded. Another thing she disliked about winter: she felt like her sense of smell wasn’t as keen as it was when there was actually something to scent. Then again, everything in the vicinity would probably have gone into hiding the moment they heard Rabbitnose yowling. She slowed her pace to a walk. Infernochaser wrinkled up her nose. "Not much out here today, eh?" she contemplated briskly, just to make conversation.

It was a chilly day, but the commonly unpleasant she-cat shook it off with a roll of her eyes and a smirk, gladly stepping from camp into territory. Infernochaser was the new deputy, and Orioleflash had wished her luck with sincerity. In their most barren of all the territories, luck and perseverance would be the requirements to save them. Catching the scent of other cats on the wind, the small she-cat changed her course and met up with them, her saffron eyes golden with the anticipation of, hopefully, a decent conversation with a few clanmates. As she approached the three of them as they entered the sparse patch of woods that dotted the moor, she dipped her head to the higher ranked she-cat and let a minuscule smile grace her half-narrowed eyes as they sparkled with mischief. "Indeed, there isn't much out here. Do you mind if I join you?
[/u]" Orioleflash's words spilled neatly from her mouth and into the air around them, her expression remaining near quizzical yet with a hint of something else. ooc: yay short quick posts WHEN I SHOULD BE POSTING ELSEWHERE[/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify][/blockquote]

He, of course, had noticed the eerie tension between his two clanmates, but serenely chose to ignore it, as was habitual for Rabbitnose with potential conflict. Best let them simmer away right? Wrong. But he didn't know that, since he so rarely found himself in tight places socially anyway. It wasn't that he was ignorant, he just played an easy game where upsetting others meant he had lost. Thus, he carried on their stroll at a leisurely pace, content in the momentary quiet found when his company fell silent.
Winter was lovely, he decided. Not always the most fun time to be had, what with falling asleep hungry and attitudes sour between the clans, but it was pretty and calm and the birds tended to stay away, thankfully. Some still perched here and there, screaming birdy insults his way, creepy enough to crawl under his pelt, but many left for somewhere warmer he figured. That, of course, helped him rest easily. Peering about, he couldn't help but admire the dangerously pretty landscape, the colored drearily muted, grass kissed with sparkling frost. So different from summer! Of course, he adored either. He could find the best parts of any season, he thought.
With these thoughts darting about in his mind, the brown tabby had hardly taken any note when his two companions fell back a few steps, making a soft exchange-- but he wasn't bothered. Clearly, it had nothing to do with him, so he shrugged it off and let his thoughts wander to the tantalizing idea of a freshly caught hare right about then. Sinking his teeth in, when the flesh gave way to warm inards... Infernochaser's clear voice ringing out closer to him was perhaps the only thing that kept the tom from openly drooling at his torturous thoughts, but the deputy's idle input couldn't keep Rabbitnose's stomach from roaring its complaint.
"Hush." The warrior told his guts quietly, shaking his head before glancing up at the abyssinian female, frowning a bit quizically. "If I weren't so hungry, I'd think it was kinda nice. But since I am hungry, it kinda sucks. But it's still kinda nice, I guess. I mean it's pretty soothing to come out here on the moor and feel that complete and utter aloneness. You know? I love to be with clanmates, but it's kind of neat to be completely without company. But," He went on, babbling slightly, "The fact remains that I am hungry, so it still kinda sucks." He laughed then, twitching his whiskers carelessly.
"It'll pass though. All I think about when I can't eat it how awesome it's gonna be when spring comes around and everyone gets fat again." The leggy fellow purred, closing his eyes from a blissful moment before carrying on at an easy trot beside the deputy, glancing over for Bluefire to make sure she was still around, and was pleasantly surprised when he not only glanced over the silver tabby, but spied the multicolored form of his friend Orioleflash. "Ah, hello miss!" He yelped rather joyously, gladdened by her presence. "We'd love to have you, my darling. The more the merrier!" The tom repeated his earlier phrase with a friendly wink, lashing his tail.

Rabbitnose took no notice to the conversation going on between the two she-cats. When Infernochaser caught up with him, the tom was telling his stomach to 'hush' when it growled. She simply gave him a quizzical- and amused - glance. He then babbled on about winter, and being hungry. Infernochaser just walked beside him, nodding every so often in agreement with what he was saying, though not necessarily taking much notice of his words. But it was nice to have someone filling in the silence that would have been there if he was not speaking, and Rabbitnose was easy to get along with. A little smile was now plastered on her neat features. "It is nice to get a break from the hustle and bustle of camp and come out here, I agree," she said to him. "But in terms of prey, if you don't look, you just don't find. And being hungry does suck, indeed."
Well, if all the clans were like him, everyone would get on together like a forest on fire. There would be conflicts whatsoever. But of course, they weren’t. Some, namely herself, never let anything go lightly. But she was no fool, and knew that if there wasn’t some form of discipline everyone would be running wild. Infernochaser could just imagine it.
"Indeed, there isn't much out here. Do you mind if I join you?"
Infernochaser came to a halt and glanced over her shoulder to see a she-cat emerging from the vegetation, dipping a calico head to her. Infernochaser hadn’t had much difficulty adjusting to her new position within the clan, even if some were skeptical of her. The sandy she-cat inclined her head in greeting. "Hey there Orioleflash," she called pleasantly. As Rabbitnose recited what seemed to be his little catch-phrase: 'the more the merrier', the deputy simply grinned at Orioleflash in response herself.
She began to padded off slowly again, keeping at the same pace as them. "Ah, we'll find something, though," she spoke to them decisively. It seemed her little stroll had turned out to be something of a hunting patrol. There was a thin mist hanging over areas of the moor. Good cover, should they find something to hunt. Of course, that was the first obstacle. There was plenty of prey out there, if you knew how to find it.

Bluefire approached Rabbitnose. "Uh, hi. Rabbitnose, may I talk to you? Alone?" her eyes glowing more than ever. she didn't know how to tell him that she loved him. It was getting close to sunset. It was getting chilly. She shivered when a gust of cold wind blew. She pressed up to Rabbitnose. "Oh, sorry, I-I'm just cold. I...... never mind. Tell you later." she mewled. She took the Deputy's response as a "That's ok." She was glad that she didn't get cuffed in the ear. "This deputy isn't so bad." She thought. She was ok with orioleflash. She wanted to get to know the calico she-cat more.

Orioleflash had grown comfortable around Rabbitnose when they had gone skating on the lake together with another female just a few days ago, but the calico was not very familiar with either Infernochaser or Bluefire. Glancing at the pale colored tabby, Orioleflash couldn't help but roll her eyes at the she-cat. She was annoying, just like the rest, but it wouldn't do to simply bash her in front of the others. Sucking in a deep breath, she dipped her head once more to Infernochaser in greeting, and chuckled at the tabby tom as Bluefire sidled up alongside him. "Jeeze, Rabbitnose. Seems like every lady in the Clan's crazy to jump your bones.
[/u]" The female piped up, her tone sarcastic and her saffron eyes narrowed as her usual smirk spread across her dappled maw. Sidling up to him on the opposite side, she mockingly nuzzled him, purring into his ear. " This is hilarious.[/u]" Very quietly before roughly shoving into him and falling back behind where Infernochaser walked along. Her actions were playful, and she hadn't meant anything by her flirting, but simply did so to see if she could get Bluefire riled up, and bit back her laughter by wrinkling her nose and letting her bright ivory teeth flash wickedly.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

Rabbitnose cast Infernochaser a faint frown, though he was sure she didn't notice. Hopefully she didn't, anyway. Though he was slightly offended, he just as soon didn't let the new deputy know that. Still, it stung to have her talk down to him, what with implying he hadn't been looking for prey at all. Of course he hunted! He sighed and shrugged it off, flicking his tail as if to physically brush away the sour taste in his mouth about the thought.
The warrior turned instead to Bluefire, who seemed urgent to have his attention, but as he opened his mouth to agree to some alone-time, she just as soon changed her mind. The brown tabby frowned, then laughed as her, shaking his head as she brushed her silver pelt against him, murmuring softly. "Silly girl! Grow your fur longer if you're cold!" The warrior purred, pressing back lightly before dealing her a gentle headbutt and turning to Orioleflash, ears on fire.
"Wh-what?!" He yelped, jumping away from Bluefire as if she had scorched him when the calico said such vulgar things. Rabbitnose was used to hanging out with she-cats, he didn't expect anything of it, why would Oriole say that? He took a heartbeat to calm down and shot his friend a scalding glare, though playful, he wished she wouldn't pick on him like that. Rabbitnose had to stifle a second cry that threatened to burst from his mouth when she snuffled his ear rather.... seductively? Runningfox wouldn't be happy if he saw that! The leggy tom cringed when he thought of his brother, whom he hadn't seen for several days, and knew he had more interest than usual in the fiery patched lady.
Still, he knew that Orioleflash was just playing around, getting on the nerves of her clanmates, as was a natural habit of hers. He growled jokingly and shoved her back, skipping several paces away, so that he was a bit further ahead of the group than her. "Quit harassing me you ruffian!" He cried over his shoulder, hyperaware he was in the presence of the deputy, wishing his clanmate didn't have to embarrass him like that.
