It's so cold this time of year
As she padded across the snowy moor, Otterstep's paws quickly became numb. She tried her best to take light, brisk steps, but it didn't help at all. Stopping a few times, she tried her best to warm them with rough licks - which did help at first - but in the end the saliva started to ice up, anyways. Starting to run out of breath with the icy air and the small wren in her mouth, she headed towards the lake in hopes of finding a spot that wasn't completely covered in ice or snow. When the warrior got there she looked around. There was cold, white crap everywhere. Sighing, and not knowing what to do, she just sat down. Otter set her pads a top of the tail that was wrapped around her, doing the best to warm up in the littlest way possible. The chill reminded her too much of the three, cold, dead bodies that she gave birth to.. All of a sudden a yowl broke the silence. Her head popped up to see a brown tabby practically skating across the frozen lake. What in the world.. Trying to figure out who it was, she went through all of the cats throughout ZephyrClan and only one name stuck out with the description her eyes gave her. Rabbitnose?

The calico was known for haunting the lake, as it seemed she was always found there. Her bright golden eyes watched with her comical smirk stretched across her half ginger tabby half black face. 'How amusing.' Orioleflash thought, as she watched the brown tabby form of Rabbitnose as he was chased by a fluttering bird. She couldn't stifle her laughter, so she let a few chuckles out before shaking her head and purring. How comical it all was. Otterstep, she saw, had also approached the body of frozen water, and Orioleflash decided that it was time to approach the pretty tortoiseshell girl.
As she stepped forward, pulling herself up off the snowy ground, she gave her rump a little shake and a shiver ran through her, up and down the length of her spine. Winter, bleh. Her usual smirk came back upon her maw, replacing the slight frown that often could be found there also. "Hello, Otterstep. D'you think he's going to be alright, or should we intervene?
[/u]" Orioleflash pondered aloud after greeting the femme, her eyes watching Rabbitnose closely. The brother of Runningfox, oh did he know what was up with him lately? Orioleflash's hope rose, but only for a moment, before settling back down. There was nothing to hope for, was there? " I don't know, it looks to be fun, doesn't it?[/u]" Orioleflash continued, shifting her weight from paw to paw as her tail flicked about amiably, glancing her amused expression toward the tortoiseshell, her haunches shrugging as she took a few steps forward, contemplating whether or not bounding onto the ice would be a good idea or now. ' It's worth a try.' She thought before hopping on and immediately sliding. Orioleflash's expression grew cross, and as she tried to run back to the shore, she slipped, falling down onto her back with a harsh yowl of contempt. She peered into the tabby's face above her, scowling. " I really don't see how you do it.[/u]" ooc: WOW LOOK AT THAT TERRIBLE POWERPLAY FORGIVE ME but it's amusing? xD and anette, it's purrrfecttt. <33[/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

rabbitnose when I wake you up you're so cranky, but you're happy you're happy, you make me happy.
It was the most delightful afternoon, surely one of the best in days on end. While this particular leaf-bare hadn't been too harsh on the clans, and no one had yet felt its full smite, some still did yearn for the weather to be a little more kind to the cats. The tom in particular, as he found himself far from camp, was relishing the sunny afternoon, for while it was cold as one could hope for in the middle of winter, the snow was no longer falling and instead the pearly carpet covering the moor glittered rather beautifully-- a sight he always loved to see. Still, sight-seeing wasn't exactly Rabbitnose's forte, and his paws were itching to do something, though he could never be sure quite what it was he wanted to do.
Of course, he had set out from camp with a goal in mind, but that was long gone by now (he was simply hopeless at retaining a thought for longer than a few heartbeats). So now the task at paw was to find himself something to do, and while his paws trodded through the fluffy terrtain, his mind trodded through possible outcomes to any adventure, though he never followed a train of thought for long, he managed to become quite distracted in his own mind, and didn't see it coming when he landed flat upon his stomach. Rabbitnose carefully sat up, though this in itself was quite a struggle, as he had wandered across the lakeshore onto the frozen body of water.
Absently, he then recalled feeling icy moisture seeping up through his pads, but had brushed it off as melting snow and little more. He regretted that now as he fought to stand, shakily, upright upon the thick ice before the idea struck him. Like a light igniting his olivine gaze, Rabbitnose felt enlightened by the memory of kits dancing across the camp's pond in his mind's eye. Of course! Ice was made for playing upon, wasn't it?
With a start, he made as though stepping across eggshells- for being light on his paws was a skill gradually acquired by all ZephyrClan cats in order to stalk silently through the tall grass after pray. After a few moments of slipping wildly about, fighting hard to gain footing where there was none, the tabby tom found himself gradually gaining back the use of his paws upon the unbearably slippery surface and, in an instant, was running. Fast, of course, as moons of hunting hares had taught him to be, he had no trouble at all darting across the lake toward invisible playthings, laughing gleefully as he went. He then locked his joints tightly, thus allowing his lithe frame to slide easily over the ice, slowly coming to a halt far from where he had began, and his thick fur quite windblown. The warrior couldn't contain his joy, and let out a whoop before setting off again, perilously dashing across the lake.
However suddenly, he felt a haunting presence behind him and, clawing for a grip on the ice, attempted in vain to keep from crying out when a terrifyingly sizeable jay dove through the sky, it's little deadly talons outstretched, surely aiming for the tom's vulnerable eyeballs as he gazed upward, petrified by the blue demon. Instinctively, he turned tail and scampered in the other direction, his paws clambering in place as he went no where until something finally caught, and he was off like a bullet. He sped away from the feathered offender and toward the shore, though he suddenly recognized two clanmates, not far off and, forgetting all about the bird-- far gone by now-- shouted out to them.
"Hi girls!" He yowled, sliding toward them as he tried to stop himself to no avail. When he realized that it was the pretty little fireball Orioleflash skidding toward him, he couldn't help but let out a guffaw at her lack of dignity, but cut himself off and winced when she, quite predictably, fell. With now practiced control, Rabbitnose skidded smoothly to where she lay and peered down at her, unable to keep the grin from his face. "You just gotta go with the flow," He purred, flicking his tail before looking up at Otterpelt. "Hey! What's up?"

Otterstep had heard the soft and delicate sinking of paws as they drifted into the into the white snow. She had turned just in time to receive the fellow calico - Orioleflash's - greeting. They hadn't really talked in the past, but she'd heard around the clan that Oriole wasn't the vole in the pile. They didn't said she was straight-up mean, but more so defensive, so she wasn't surprised when a smirk was upon her face rather than a smile. Bowing down in return, Otterstep returned her greeting, Orioleflash, good to see you today! And I think he seems to be enjoying it more than anything. Chuckles escaped her mouth at the hilarious sight of Rabbitnose while he was ducking away from the jay, trying his best to run across the lake's slippery surface. She wanted to try it for herself, but the other she-cat had gotten to it icy edge first, figuring she should wait her turn until Oriole got a litter further from her. A small flash of jealousy surged through her eyes when Rabbitnose was paying Orioleflash attention, and not her any, but when he looked up at her, and eye contact was made, her lithe body melted. He's such a gorgeous tom. Hey, Rabbitnose! & not too much, just freezing my paws off over here.

She squinted at the silly tom as he slid about, and her golden eyes narrowed. "Yeah, I guess you're right.
[/u]" The she-cat replied, managing to bite back any other replies that weren't so nice. Otterstep was okay, the calico thought to herself, but the feeling didn't last long. Orioleflash rarely missed a cat's reaction, and when Rabbitnose was speaking to her, she felt the tortoiseshell's eyes boring into her short frame and short-haired pelt. Rolling her eyes at both the tom's comment and at the silly she-cat, the small ZephyrClan she-cat attempted to right herself but her paws slid on the slick surface. " Mother of Stars.[/u]" She muttered, struggling to keep back the slew of profanity that so wanted to come out of her white-touched maw. Unsheathing her claws to get more traction, Orioleflash steadied herself and stood there as if she were frozen to the lake. " Hi boy![/u]" She replied to the tom with a peppy voice and a mockingly excited face. " I don't like this stuff.[/u]" The female complained quietly, mainly to herself. " Uh, is there anyway one of you could, I dunno, help?[/u]" Orioleflash asked, almost whimpering as she discovered her fear of falling on the ice. Of course, she wasn't really afraid, she just didn't feel like making a bigger fool out of herself. Sure, right, that was it.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]
