hear us now, clear and true, wretches and kings we come for you Voidstar raised his head from a sleeping position and stretched his maw wide in a yawn before opening his eyes. Sitting up he dragged his tongue over his silky black pelt. His line of thought from the previous night suddenly coming back to him and he knew what he had to do. However, before announcing who mentored the two older kits he had a warrior ceremony to perform. With that he slipped out of his den and sat on the wooden ledge that sat just outside his den at the highest point in camp.
“Let all cats skilled enough to defend their honour gather to hear my words!”
The leader called upon his clan to gather before him to hear his news. In the back of his mind he noted that he would have to address the fact that one of their own warriors had murdered a cat from another clan but that could wait until the end. The bottom line would be the fact that fighting would take place and despite the fact Hailghost had acted without his permission he did not care that there was one less Celestialclan warrior in the forest and he would defend his warrior and his clan with all he had. On top of that he did not feel scared about the potential battle for he knew that Tempestclan were the obviously stronger clan and they would happily match anything that their opponents could come up with. Of course he hadn’t told his clan what he planned to do about the situation just yet, but it wasn’t as though he was going to run from a fight and he knew most of them would be expecting a battle and being such a kind leader he would not deprive his clan.
Impatiently waiting for his clan to turn up he waited until he saw those involved present beneath him before starting. ”Moonpaw would you please step forward.” He called down to the grey she-cat. She was the oldest apprentice is the clan and it was time for her to receive her full warrior name as he had taken time to assess her skills and had been pleased with what he had seen. Clearing his throat he began, putting on a little bit of a show for the Starclan believers out there.
“I, Voidstar, leader of Tempestclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. By the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Moonpaw, from this moment you will be known as Moonbeam. StarClan honours your spirit, and we welcome you as a full warrior of Tempestclan.”
His personal belief in them was wearing and it didn’t help that he had never been a particularly strong believer in them. Voidstar had always believed that you had to go after you want and it clearly worked since it had landed him the position as leader. This was what entitled him to decide who mentored which cat and he always had a good reason for the pairings that he made. His clan could doubt his decision all they wanted but he was confident that both Cherrykit and Aspenkit would make great warriors someday, despite the fact that both of their mentors were murderers. Every move he made would make the other clans wearier and even more likely to leave his excellence alone but in thinking this he was unaware of the sickness that was heading for Tempestclan. Deciding he had left enough time for Moonbeam to receive her congratulations he opened his mouth to speak again as soon as silence had fallen over his clan. Firstly, he looked to a young tom with ice blue eyes.
“Aspenkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Aspenpaw. Your mentor will be Blackshard – closely supervised by myself.”
As he spoke these words his face displayed no change in emotions and he wore his indifferent mask, as strong as ever. They could think what they want but Shard was a great fighter and he had a lot of knowledge that he could pass on to Aspenpaw. The only issue was with his moral decisions but that was where Voidstar would play a part, he would be watching to make sure that the tom understood the warrior code, by which he would live if he was going to remain in Tempestclan as would his mentor. Not wanting to drag anything out his gaze turned to look down upon the small calico female.
“Cherrykit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Cherrypaw. Your mentor will be Hailghost.”
WORDS// 833 NOTES// Sorry it's not the best quality, my muse is beginning to run out for the day. TAGGED// Please all TC cats post, especially if you are involved.

YOU'RE AN OUTCAST, ALWAYS UNDER ATTACK, ALWAYS COMING IN LAST Two days had passed since he had murdered Jaspersun in a border scuffle, and he had spoken to Voidstar about it. Oddly enough everything was going in a very business like manner, and so he wasn't even surprised when he heard the old familiar call and the clan leader brought Tempestclan together for a meeting. It could be about any number of things, but when they had last spoken it had been about the two oldest kits, Aspenkit and Cherrykit, and so he had a good feeling of this. Hailghost was one of the first to swarm into the clearing, sitting near the front. His amber gaze was neither solemn nor challenging as he gazed up at Voidstar, but unease flickered somewhere deeper. He puffed up his gray fur as the leader began to speak, noticing that his sister Dreamfeather had settled close by. Perhaps it was some sort of sibling bonding moment for them; it had been so long since they had truly spoken. No, though, he realized a second later as he noticed that her blue gaze held traces of malice and intent, focused upon the leader's perch. She was the deputy, and he wasn't- it was customary for her to sit near the front of the group, particularly during apprentice ceremonies. It was no surprise that she wasn't here to be close by her dear, dear brother. What Hailghost did wonder at, however, was why she seemed so disturbed. Another cat might not have seen it, the small warning signs. Oh, their deputy thought herself impenetrable, unreadable. To some, she was just that way, as cool as rain and as silent as night. But to her own brother, she thought she could pull such selfish trickery? Back when she had first shown signs of becoming numb to the world, cooling in attitude and speech, he had seen right through her mask. Even now, when she thought no one noticed, he could tell how she was feeling with just a look at her blue eyes. Did she really think she could hide from him? He knew every secret, every fault, every bad intention and selfish desire. Dreamfeather wasn't as hard to figure out as some cats thought, but perhaps it was just what their family had always known; in the end, blood would always be thicker than water.
Flicking his tail with distaste as another warrior came to sit between the two littermates, he watched as a pretty young female came forward. The long furred gray tom listened with amusement as Voidstar spoke the words of the 'ceremony' which would turn Moonpaw to Moonbeam. He was good humored enough to go up and greet her by her warrior name. He himself had been greeted, beside his sister, from Hailpaw to Hailghost many moons ago. Why not allow the same show for this new warrior, and every new warrior to come after her? Perhaps for them, there was a bit of warmth to it. For himself, he felt nothing. Only when the silence had returned and he had gone back to his position did his ears prick with any small amount of interest as Voidstar began speaking again. Noting how well groomed and sleek the ebony tom looked, he couldn't help twitching his whiskers with bitter amusement. Their leader thought himself so devastatingly charming, pardon the phrase but- "Starclan's gift to she-cats." And yet, he was older than even Hailghost, and had yet to take a mate, or even father any kits. It was one thing, for Hailghost, who knew he wasn't the best thing since fresh prey, to not have any kits or mate. If he didn't know his leader better- actually, he didn't really- he would think he had taken a mate in another clan. I suppose there's time for jeering him later. The warrior decided, focusing as Aspenkit approached and stepped up before Voidstar.
Blackshard would mentor Aspenpaw. Funny, terribly funny. He had never known the leader to have such spectacular wit. In fact, with this choice made, he believed he might even be recovering a bit of lost respect for Voidstar. Of course, the fact that the male of the two would be mentored by the leader's brother meant that Cherrykit was all his, and that gave a small rush of sexism. Cherrykit was smaller and weaker, the picture of a female with calico fur- even her fresh gaze screamed with feminism. Yet as he watched her, he couldn't help but think that she had potential. There was something fascinating about her, perhaps some intelligence that could be noted with just a glance. The mentor soon to be took an instant liking to her as she stepped up, and was named as Cherrypaw. It shall be interesting, even if she does turn out to be soft, to toughen her up more. He had half an idea that with his mentoring, she could become better than just a decent warrior- perhaps an outstanding warrior.
He didn't care much for the ceremony, but it had been said- 'your mentor will be Hailghost' and so he casually sauntered forward, looking the much younger feline in the eye by tilting his gray head downward. He touched noses with her, as was tradition, and then returned to his spot, backing off so that others could. It wouldn't be surprising, however, if his fellow warriors were rather quiet- Cherrypaw was the offspring of a rogue, and she wouldn't be well liked among the clan.
WORD COUNT: 910 TAGGED: TC Cats NOTES: I have a lot of muse lately, heehee. <3 I think Cherrypaw-Hailghost will be a good mentor apprentice pair.

The grey she-cat heard Voidstar use the words words that had become so familiar to her to call the clan together. Was she skilled enough to defend her honor? She was supposed to be with all the training she had. She sat down close to where Voidstar was standing, anticipating what he had to say. She knew that some of the kits were old enough to become apprentices now.
”Moonpaw would you please step forward.”
As he said her name, she blinked surprised at first. Then she twitched with excitement. The same feeling had passed through many an apprentice as their warrior ceremony took place. But for some it might not be so. They might just do whatever they had to do and no more. They may not believe in Starclan and think of it just as the result of their training. That was what Moonpaw thought. Starclan could be Starclan. It made little difference to her. Moonpaw took a few jittery steps forward toward Voidstar. It was more of a bounce than a step.
She looked up at her leader with wide, bright green eyes as he spoke the words she had been waiting to hear for moons. And that was it. She was a warrior. She was no longer Moonpaw. She was Moonbeam. Now she wouldn't have to run around looking after the elders and listen to their complaints all day, every day. She wasn't going to be in the apprentice den anymore. She was a fully fledged member of the clan. Moon beam hadn't much faith in Starclan, not being clan born she hadn't really heard of them until she was taken into Tempestclan. But she just went along with whatever happened. Her warrior ceremony simply meant that she had taken a step up from her apprenticeship.
Moonbeam stood back and watched as Voidstar carried on with his speech. Two kits were indeed to become warriors today. The grey patched femme watched them with curiosity. They were the rogue's kits. Moonpaw had nothing against the kits personally. She had nothing against them at all. The others might though. They weren't of clan blood. She wasn't either. Not really. Her mother had been part of Tempestclan, but left and had kits. Then she had been unable to 'handle' Moonbeam after her sibling had died and left her here, on Tempestclan territory. Moonbeam was glad. Any mother like that was useless. Now she was a warrior in the clan her mother had left her to. OOC; Sorry it's so crappy.

Ashenflight
If today was your last day And tomorrow was too late Could you say good-bye to yesterday?
The Clan gathered over to Voidstar with plans in their minds and songs in their hearts. It didn't matter what was going on, just so long as everyone responded to Voidstar's call. An average she-cat exited her den and made her way over to the rest of the Clan. Siting down beside no one at all, but listening all the same. Ashenflight watched as Moonpaw was announced as Moonbeam, clever enough as that was. She had watched the little rogue kit grow and turn into the fine warrior that was standing in front of Voidstar today. The medicine cat had watched from afar, but willed the she-cat on all the same. Now, Moonbeam had taken her place in the Clan as a warrior and Ashenflight, only a little ways away, shuffled herself towards the refurnished warrior and sat down again. Listening ever so intently to the new apprentices, Aspenpaw and Cherrypaw. The Clan was thriving well.
Ashenflight waited patiently as their leader spoke. She respected him of course, but some of the cats in their Clan were ones that she didn't accept, and probably never would. The white and grey tabby watched as Voidstar gave Aspenpaw to Blackshard. Interesting choice. Ashenflight would let them have their fun and let Aspenpaw grow. It would do him good- a strong apprentice given to a strong warrior. But then Voidstar introduced Cherrypaw to Hailghost. Ashenflight refused to accept that. Cherrypaw would make a great warrior, no doubt, exactly what TempestClan needs, but Hailghost. Everything about him was wrong. Just a few days ago, Ashenflight heard a cat coming back into the Clan at a very late hour. She woke up from her nest and went outside to sniff the air. Ideally, being a medicine cat, her senses are high; especially her sense of smell. Breathing in the air, she tasted musky scents, confused boundaries, but undernieth all of that in such a small part of the night air, there was blood. And not the blood that comes from a piece of prey-cat blood. Death. Ashenflight had to blink her eyes to see in the harsh darkness under the moon, but instead of seeing an injured cat, she saw Hailghost. He never came to her for any injuries so it obviously wasn't his blood. He was hiding something-she just didn't know what yet. Giving Cherrypaw to Hailghost worried the medicine cat, but she would never speak out her fears-not even to Voidstar. No one would know.
There was a pause in Voidstar's speech and Ashenflight blinked to reality before leaning over to speak to Moonbeam. "Congratulations on becoming a warrior. You deserve it," the she-cat said in a genuine adult voice. Not like her medicine voice from where she was brash and harsh all the time.

never been so used as i'm using you, abusing you, my little decoy As soon as the call had been made by her leader the lithe female was already jumping from her nest and flicking bits of moss from her fur. She would no longer have to sleep in the nursery with Shard’s irritating kits and best of all she was beginning to move up in ranks. She hated being nothing more than a kit, the lowest of the low. She had to show respect to everyone and everything that she came across which was just ridiculous. Without kits the future of the clan would be non-existent and for carrying on the legacy she felt she deserved a little more recognition. No matter, she was skilled by blood and she would put that to good use when showing her clan mates how good she really was. By the end of her training she had a strong feeling that nobody would want to mess with her and Voidstar had better give her a decent mentor otherwise she would make life very difficult for a young and inexperienced warrior. Suddenly realising she had been day-dreaming while grooming her pelt she shook any thoughts from her head and prodded her brother with a claw to make sure he was coming, before pushing her way out of the nursery for the last time.
Trotting over to the gathering of cats she took a seat in the middle of the group, not wanting to seem too eager by sitting right at the front but not wanting to seem unenthusiastic by sitting at the back. Her tail twitched excitably behind her while she had to listen to the other news Voidstar had to offer the clan. She knew it was a bit disrespectful but she couldn’t wait to become an apprentice, then she would be able to show Splashpaw, and by that she didn’t mean an ambush of kits. Olive eyes burned into Moonpaw’s fur as she stepped forward to receive her new name. One day soon that would be her in that position and Cherrykit could barely wait for the day. Reminding herself she had to take things one step at a time she focused on the ceremony that was before her after calling out the name of the new warrior to be polite. Cherrykit was not the type to worry about being polite but since she was surrounded by clan mates she had so show that she could be respectful when she wanted to be.
Eyeing her sibling in annoyance she watched as he was given his apprentice name before her. She resented how it was hard for a female to get noticed or recognised in the presence of ambitious tom cats. They were basically all a bunch of sexist mouse brains that should be slaughtered. Although she wasn’t stupid enough to go after them herself then again one could always turn them against each other until they destroyed each other. Being ambitious wasn’t a bad thing, being power-crazed on the other hand was. It was only when the clan called out her brothers new name did she realise that she had been glaring ahead of her the whole time. ”Aspenpaw!” She purred. On one hand he was her brother but on the other hand he was the competition and she would not be the one to lose. She would be powerful and well respected like Scarletsnow and Aspenpaw would have to admit it sooner or later.
Finally it was her turn and she stepped forward, the Voidstar’s words washing over her pelt and giving her a sense of pride as she received her new name. One day that name would be well remembered and whenever it was mentioned others would long to have her skill. Firstly she touched noses with a large grey tom that she knew to be Hailghost, her new mentor. She was then greeted by Shard and Voidstar but the leader had greeted all of them so it was nothing special. The moment was gone as quickly as it had come and her ceremony had already been forgotten by others. They would regret that, she would show them.
