Her paws were soaked with bile and had a pungent scent to them. Scrunching up her small pinkish nose, the apprentice quickly padded over to the nearest wash basin. Clearing the bile from her furry paws, she sighed and gave up. Though they still smelled faintly of mouse bile, she couldn't protest. They weren't half as bad as they had been.
The younger female sighed and inwardly cringed as Frozensilk's shrill mew sounded across the clan site. "Autumnpaw! Please get me some more moss! This one has small brambles in it! I simply cannot sleep on it!" The elder exclaimed. Sighing, she nodded and ran off to fetch some fresh moss. About half way there, she scented some catmint. With wide eyes, she quietly hunted down the leafy stalks. Carefully, she padded up to them, afraid of somehow squishing them beneath her small paws. Tilting her head, she grasped a few and felt her mouth water from the wonderful scent. She carried them along and found a large ball of moss growing on a tree. Cautiously, she placed the stalks of catmint aside and bunched her muscles to climb the tree. The tree really wasn't that high, so the small cat shouldn't have had any problems. Once she reached the moss, she pulled it off of the trunk and watched as it floated to the ground. As she slowly descended, one of her hind paws missed a step and the apprentice tumbled to her death.
Just kidding. She didn't land too well, though. With a squeak, the she cat landed awkwardly on her feet, nonetheless. Unbalanced, she fell over and let out a soft huff. Autumnpaw gathered the moss and the catmint and proceeded back to the clan. She made a quick pitstop at the Elder's den to fix Frozensilk's new bedding. Taking the unwanted moss, with her, Autumnpaw padded away. She heard the elder she-cat mumble her content. Yawning, she felt the stalks of catmint slip through her teeth. Looking down, she quickly picked them back up and deposited them in the medicine cat den. "Ashenflight!" Her soft voice called out. "I have found some catmint!" She continued, looking for her mentor. |

Ashenflight
If today was your last day And tomorrow was too late Could you say good-bye to yesterday?
Walking back into camp from her long and boring outing with Spiderfang with only tansy and watermint found. She sighed and padded calmly back towards her den. Already she could scent a small she-cat floundering around inside the medicine cat den. She heavily sighed once again only to find that she was rather annoyed. Getting an apprentice, well it was nice to have someone else to help her with the dirty work, but this apprentice wasn't much like her at all. Ashenflight was bitter to the touch and sometimes extremely mean too. Her little calico apprentice was everything opposite of her. Autumnpaw was nice and sweet and practically "adorable". Autumnpaw was everything Ashenflight would never be. Ashenflight still had a hard time cooperating with Autumnpaw throughout the days end. She had noticed that Autumnpaw walked around in practically a story rather than in reality and it bugged Ashenflight out of her fur because it seemed like the apprentice didn't take anything seriously. Seriously, TempestClan was driven and battle hungry and serious. Autumnpaw skipped around and enjoyed her happiness. Ashenflight spat to the ground in annoyance before continuing to make her way into her, their den.
There was really no point arguing with the small change, after all, Ashenflight took Autumnpaw herself to the pool of studded stones and StarClan greeted Autumnpaw like a long lost friend. She was obviously fit for the role as a medicine cat, but how would Ashenflight teach her? She had no wisdom to give this cat, she only had skill that she could hardly teach. She wasn't taught much herself, it was mostly learned by experience and experiments. Would she be able to teach Autumnpaw what to do? She blinked her eyes at the thought of her new apprentice. Maybe she'd get used to the thought of having an apprentice and if she did, well she wouldn't have to complain anymore about it inside her head. Bitterly, she went in and saw the little calico handling some herbs excitedly. Ashenflight walked right past her and gently placed her tansy and watermint into delicate storage and then turned back to find Autumnpaw gazing at her with her bright green eyes. Ashenflight only stared at her before walking past her again, sitting down in her nest. "Ashenflight! I have found some catmint!" she had boasted when Ashenflight trotted into the camp. Catmint! Catmint was fantastic, but the young she-cat didn't have to yell it to the world. All of the camp could have woken up by now and not to mention, the other Clans could have found her from all the racket she was making. Ashenflight bit her tongue before she snapped at the she-cat.
"Well done Autumnpaw, but tell me, where did you find this and let's go check the stalks to make note of where it was so that we can grow more and replenish," Ashenflight said in a light, but hard tone. She didn't want Autumnpaw to think she was a softy or anything below that.
