The sun was just setting over the horizon when Spiderfang, a brown mackerel tom, padded out of the warriors den. He stretched his back legs, his jaw parting to let a yawn escape. Although he had been sleeping all day, he was still tired. He had been out on patrols the day before, and hadn't been able to sleep. Padding further into the center of camp, the brown and white tom looked around. There were several other cats milling about, but none of them looked interesting to talk to. Being strong-headed, he usually didn't make many friends. Sighing absently to himself, he nosed through the fresh-kill pile. He scented vole buried deep within, but he was having trouble finding it.
Settling with a mouse out of frustration, the tom stalked away, flicking his tail angrily. Spiderfang chose a rock next to a tall, shady tree. The air was stagnant, humidity rising. His fur prickled with the heat wavering off the ground. Huffing, the tom dove into his mouse, which was stringy and sinewy. Grunting with frustration, he swiped the mouse aside, not having taken more than two bites. The mouse had been fairly large, larger than average. Rolling onto his belly, the tom stretched, closing his eyes. At least he could get some more sleep now, and if someone needed him, they could come and wake him. Slowly, the tom drifted into unconsciousness.

Ashenflight
If today was your last day And tomorrow was too late Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
In the musty den, leftover old herbs crinkled under paw as the bulky grey and white she-cat went through her storage. She hissed as the leaves diminished under a touch. Coughing slightly, she whisked the debris over to the side with her tail and flicked it out of her den. Bitterly she wondered when she would be able to get out of the boring camp and get back to looking for herbs in the fresh spring air. Ashenflight walked out of her dark den in and into the light. Stretching her limbs, she searched for a cat that she could use for the time being. She just needed supplies and some of these cats didn't look like they were doing anything that important. Letting her dark green glass eyes scan the clearing, she spotted a brown tom napping in the sun. Aw, how nice. He doesn't look busy. She thought dry sarcastically. Ashenflight got up from her stretch and trotted over to the tom asleep on the ground.
"Spiderfang," she said, wondering how mad he'll be when she woke him up, but then she tried not to let it bother her. Spiderfang wasn't doing anything after all and so he couldn't say no to herb hunting right? Right. She decided. Waiting for the tom to wake up she lashed her tail on the ground irritably. "Spiderfang." She sighed heavily, hoping this cat would get up. She didn't have time to waste and she was in need of herbs. Thinking more clearly out in the bright sun light, she thought once again over the list in her head. Let's see. I need watermint, tansy, and borage leaves I presume. Yes, that's what I need. She blinked out of her thoughts and awaited Spiderfang's response to reality.

But what was this? Something, someone, rather, was disturbing his sleep. He knew that this cat was from his clan; it would be quite scary if it wasn't, but he couldn't quite identify the voice. From the tone, it was a female. Now what female would be out and about in camp at this hour? That's when the voice finally broke through. Blinking the sleep from his eyes, Spiderfang sat up immediately. The shape of the cat who had been hovering over him, presumably interrupting his dreams, had been none other than Ashenflight, the medicine cat. The sour she-cat had obviously spotted him lazing around camp. But what did she need now?
Sarcasm lacing his tone, the tom spoke. "What do you want, oh wise-one?" He spit, voice bitter. Couldn't she tell he needed sleep? She was a medicine cat, so why wasn't she taking care of him? Ruffling his pelt, the tom lifted one forepaw to lick and groom himself. Swiping his tongue over his paw, he rasped the paw over his ears, attempting to clean them whilst he awaited the annoying she-cats response. WORDS. ;A; ohdeur. so short and crappeh TAGS. spider ; ashen ; medicine MUSIC. never gonna be alone - nickleback [/blockquote] [/blockquote]

Ashenflight
If today was your last day And tomorrow was too late Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Ashenflight sneered when Spiderfang sarcastically answered her with a snide comment. She flicked her tail irritably. Toms! "I need help collecting herbs today, oh lazy one," she spat, picking up her white paws and carrying herself towards the entrance before whipping her grey head back around to glare at the tom. Why be stuck with him? Why couldn't an apprentice not be doing anything today. She hissed in her head bitterly. "Anyways, seeing as your not doing anything, you'd like to help me, yes? Yes. Why sleep when you can get something done. Anyways, pick up your paws and come with me." The fur behind her neck rose a bit when she spoke the order.
Demanding a cat to help her wouldn't do much, but why should she care, Ashenflight was the medicine cat. The medicine cat of TempestClan and to be exact, the medicine cat of liars and thieves. TempestClan was the shadow of every clan. At least, she believed that. She believed that TempestClan would follow the Clans and "respected" them until there was something that they wanted. Once the temptation was in hand, they crept up on the other clans and stole what they wanted. They lived in the shadows of lies and danger and anything they wanted was to die for. The other clans didn't even match up to the power of TempestClan. CelestialClan was all priss no pride. They didn't care about winning, they didn't want their pelts to get "dirty". Stupid cats. Ashenflight thought to herself sourly. And what of ZephyrClan. They could fight, but they weren't ready to fight every fight were they? No, they taught their warriors to be loyal. No one is loyal. You have to think as one to win every fight. And VertigoClan, no point in mentioning them. TempestClan can outsmart them in a heartbeat.
TempestClan was the clan to be in, even if you had to be the medicine cat in it. Ashenflight flicked her ears before turning her glossy green eyes on the lazy tom behind her. "Hurry up, I'd like to collect these herbs before all the cats are back in the camp," she spat, unsheathing her claws to scratch at a tick behind her ear. Another boring day or another boring cat? She wondered.

He couldn't help but crack a grin as she used his own partial insult against him. He thought of another one quickly, standing up and shaking off his damp pelt, littered with dirt and dust. "What? Never heard of a lazy clan cat? I'd think you would have, being you." |
He mused, tone sarcastic. His eyes studied her as she continued to speak. "How do you know I wasn't doing anything?" He queried, knowing the answer himself. He was just teasing the grumpy old she-cat, and she knew it. He was a fun, loving cat, and he had no issue with helping her. The only issue he had was the one of her waking him up, in a not-so-nice manner. Grumbling slightly to himself over the matter, he saw the TempestClan medicine cat began to rouse and pad out of camp. "Where exactly are we going?" He asked her, picking up his lazy pace to catch up. Slowing down once they arrived in the forest, the mackrel tom gave a lazy trot and padded up to the she-cat. She seemed in a hurry, and intent on something. He knew herbs had to be collected, but what was the hurry? Not like they were going to grow legs and wander off or anything. And what was with collecting before the cats arrived back, was there something that needed to be done? Suddenly curious, he sped his pace up once again, matching the medicine cat's. "Why do they need to be collected before everyone else is in camp?" He asked, genuinely curious. Focusing ahead once again, the tom kept quiet, awaiting the response. [/style] [style=background-color:#50896C; color:#c1c6bb; font-family:ms gothic; font-size:10px; line-height:10px; margin-bottom:-1px; margin-left:30px; text-align:center; text-transform:uppercase; width:443]GIVE ME A SIGN I WANNA BELIEVE[/style] [style=border-top:1px dotted; font-size:9px; line-height:9px; margin-bottom:10px; margin-left:30px; text-align:center; width:443] [/style]

Ashenflight If today was your last day And tomorrow was too late Would you say goodbye to yesterday?
Spiderfang had caught up with her by the time she had exited the camp. She had her eyes towards the ground in search of her herbs. Watermint, found in streams, which means Ashenflight needed a damp area to find this herb; which means they have to head for the shore. The shore was full of healthy herbs, but sometimes it could be very dangerous to look for them. Yet, they'd have to hurry and get there fast and back in time for the camp. Tansy, a small, yellow flower, but used a lot. If they could pass through the grove, that'd be mighty helpful. She just might succeed in finding everything she needed there. Borage Leaves, blue and pink star shaped flowers, in the grove yet again. Well, time to get at it.
"To answer your question, I want to get these herbs in time so that when everyone is back in the camp, I can be there for them if something happens," she kept her green eyes on the forest in front of them, picking up her pace into a fast trot, anxious to get this job done and over with. "Not to mention, I'm supposedly getting an apprentice tonight. If I actually do get one, I won't need warriors to help me with my tasks and I can get more things done." She rolled her eyes, an apprentice, that didn't sound so bad? Did it? Yes, she'd have to share her knowledge with the young cat....oh the joy...
