---V E R T G O C L A N
It was the wind, flowing like an ocean current through that atmosphere, that sent beautiously refreshing chills down her arched spine, parting his coarse fur in erratic intervals. StarClan-sent healing magic gave way to little scarring, only quickly vanishing fleshy pink zigs and zags where deadly gashes once lie. Still. Pain was yet to settle itself like sediment in her mineral gray pools of milky water, like stirred up mud in a sodden puddle of rain water. It was a miricle. All of it; miraculous. Deaths in lives, birth in tragity. Why? She could only relay her yearning curiousity to StarClan, and what form of riddle their reply would be, she didn't know, she couldn't guess.
Cometstarrr... She missed the tom, everytime he danced through her subconcious mind, wandering like a hopeless nomad, the pain struck her more. Was a crush really so bad? Despite the miniscule infatuation on handsome Crypticstreak's part, Lynxstar hadn't experianced a 'crush' like that of Northwind's father in many moons, she didn't expect to ever again. Oh, poor her, Summerpath and Northwind's mother, Sparrowtwirl, she'd always known. But she'd just been so sweet about the little affair-that-wasn't. But yet, Lynxstar at the same time wanted to smash the happy little couples' skulls together on occasion. However gruesome it was, it wasn't fair. Couldn't a different cat visit her in StarClan? Couldn't Sparrowtwirl have hated her? Oh good life, it would have made it all so much easier.
Heart still all abroken yet, pulsing faintly, hardly enough to supply life, Lynxstar lifted her dull gaze away from her trodding wolf paws, inclining her skull to gaze into the rising celestial orb. The sun was casting it's heavenly divine light down into her camp, home she missed so dearly, if only it were an hour or two that she'd marched off with her clan, it could just as well have been several eternities, and suddenly all her mind could settle on was sleep, food, and the idiotic hope that maybe Riftstar would come and chat in her dream again, free of clingy Sparrowtwirl. Yes, I'm sure. Her overly exhausted mind retorted to her childish thoughts. Next you'll be trollomping off through golden meadows with charming Crypty at your side, breaking all rules like a little deviant? Ha! She new her conscience was right. She needed to get her priorities straight, and that, just that in particular, was her goal. With numb roughness, Lynxstar shoved all her kiddie infatuations away, kicking them into the soil and forgetting them, until next time at least.
A sharp, stiff sigh jumped through her lips, parted only in an unnoticable way, just so her dreading breath could escape. Eyes flicking warily, she knew no one would notice her departation, she floated through the suddenly, comfortingly, crowded camp like a ghost unnoticable in all her lean bulk, and drifted into her own cozy nest, curling up within its grasp to let sleep take her like a tide. Ebbing into unconciousness, she let out a strangly contented sigh.

The red tabby padded into the camp, and a calm feeling spread throughout her. She was home, and there had not been any deaths in VertigoClan. It was joyous. Flamingpaw was back, Radianteclipse's kits would be growing rapidly... All was well in VertigoClan. Lilythorn was plagued by exhausten though, and went straight for the Warriors den, and to her nest. She was blessed with falling asleep quickly, and she smiled as she drifted there.

Radianteclipse slowly drifted out of her sleep as she heard cats. Were they really back already? Yes they were! She sat up gingerly so as not to hurt herself, or her tiny kits for that matter. She looked warmly down at them, but she had to leave them, she had to see the cats that had come back. She tucked them in among her warm moss bedding and left the nursery and headed into the camp clearing. As she looked around she spotted Emeraldfire and let out a sort kit like squeal and bounded over to him, in a rather slow and careful manner. He was back! She pressed her fur against his comfortingly and licked one of his minor wounds. He was not hurt, not really, which made her happy. She flashed her innocent jagged teeth in a warm smile. "You're back." She murmured and pushed her nose into his soft tabby fur. Her tail swayed to and fro behind her happily. Everything was ok now. As she looked around she spotted her other friends and felt herself relax more. However, she felt her heart thudding faster as among the cats she could not spot Serenewinter. Anywhere. She gasped and left her maw hanging open. Trying to find the familiar scent, but it was not there. "Where is Serenewinter?" She yowled in a panic. Where was her snowy white friend with her crystal blue eyes? She turned to Emeraldfire with eyes pleading for something, though she had no idea what.

Emeraldfire pressed his nose to her pelt to soothe her. "Radianteclipse... they took her." he meowed sadly, knowing this would pain her. "She'll be ok. She can take care of herself. Flamingarrow survived living with them." he began meowing things he hoped would comfort her. He pulled his head back and looked into her loving eyes, knowing they would be full of worry.
Melodycall twirled into camp. Her small scratches did not bother her. She smiled, happy to be home, and happy that there had been no deaths. She danced her way over to the nursery, and peeked in on the little kits. They were beautiful! Emeraldfire and Radianteclipse's kits were absolutely adorable. She padded inside the nursery comepletely, and poked one of the kits with her nose. The little kit let out a squeaky mew, and Melodycall tucked it back into the nest. "Go to sleep little kitties." she sang in her melodious voice, giggling a little at her silliness. She exited the nursery, and let out a yawn. Then she mumbled, "I am not going to sleep yet!" to herself. She padded over to a comfy spot in the camp, and curled up, attempting not to go to sleep.

Buzzardpaw walked slowly into the camp, keeping a slick cadence. His pink, sandpaper tongue wiped across his short muzzle. On large paws he neared the other cats at the center of camp. Dull grey eyes scouted out the best spot to sit down. Soon he was on his haunches, yet in a particularly laid back mood. Today was a normal day, but normal days could often get monotonous, especially without a mentor around to train him. It was all to annoying though, because to many cats were sorrowful, so they would not bother to notice him. Then he glanced at the small curled up body of the sleeping cat, maybe he could get her to take him out hunting. Softly he padded over to Melodycall and tapped her with his tail. "Hey, um could you take me hunting Melodycall? Or at least talk to me." There was a hint of desperation in his voice, almost like he longed to be out in the forest with a warrior. His grey eyes shone a bit as he waited for an answer. Hopefully he would wait, for he had no idea what mood the she cat was in.

//Actually, I think my character Northwind is his mentor. =]
yeah it's holding me, morphing me and forcing me to strive to be endlessly cold within and dreaming I'm alive
Just maybe a little weak, but only a little, he promised himself, a yawn rushing through his gaping jaws like an escapee, no matter how hard he tried to keep them out, his brain demanded more air and in they came. Yawn yawn yawn. Shaking his great head to rid it of this exhaustion, it wouldn't stay away, and more yawns, slower his pawsteps became, sluggish now. Glancing over hsi shoulder, he could he his rather neglected apprentice placing a single paw upon Melodycall, speaking, but Northwind couldn't hear his words; his ears roared. Buzzardpaw, too, had been completely ignored, because of what? Northwind's obsession of Dustedrose. He knew. He admitted, but still, he yearned for her warmth next to him, his love for her rearing its ugly head, but still. Sleep. Sleep. Northwind tumbled into the Warrior's Den, snores escaping his throat before he hit the moss.
She had something to confess to But you don't have the time So look the other way You will wait until it's over To reveal what you'd never shown her Too little much too late
"Northwind, it's dawn, and the battle was hardly long or difficult, buck up soldier." Her paw came down with mild force, jabbing into his shoulder blade roughly. "Up, up, up Sunshine." She sneared happily, anything to torment her brother, expecially in a mood like this. "Oh come, on." She moaned, prodding him harder. "We freaking won! And you aren't going to find beloved Dusty in there, and look at your poor apprentice, and-" She was cut off as he half-heartedly flailed at her, she flailed back mockingly. "Northwind? Depressed? Uncomprehendable, get off your fat ass and train your apprentice." She prodded him again, clearly enjoying herself. "Maybe I'll just go tattle to Lynxstar, you're actually acting like quite the failure at this point." Summerpath giggled and trotted out of the den as well. Sure, she was tired too, but a good patrol would work fine as a morning wake up. For a moment, the pretty she-cat pondered actually telling Lynxstar, or, even worse, taking Buzzardpaw out herself, but smiled and shook off the thought. Instead, she glanced around for some patrol partners.

Forgotten thoughts of yesterdays Through my eyes I see the past Well I don't know I don't know I don't know why I Believe I Believe I Believe in the truth, from inside
He was alone. Plain and simple. Although this was not something that he had known for some time now. Except she had shown him that he wasn't alone. She had kept him going and had faith in him. They both did, her just a little more than Abysspaw. The fact that Serenewinter was gone hit him harder than he had expected. At first he passed it off, ignoring it and slipping back into silence. Then he began to look for her. His eyes searched frantically and his dreams and thoughts were plagued with her face. If it wasn't bad enough, he found his heart longing for her. He found himself wanting to desperately search for her. Find her and bring her back. But no. He couldn't. Darkfog had to stay here. Lynxstar would not risk one of her warriors for another with the chance that both might not return. It wasn't as if Darkfog was liked. He would more than likely be able to slip away and nobody would notice.
Well I'll take my time as I drift and die Unwanted live my life in shame Who's to blame for my mistakes
Massive muscular body moved very little. Eyes glazed over as he thought of her. Hearing the name spoken by clan mates. She would never leave him. The faint presence of her would linger, driving him to the brink of insanity. He hoped she would be back before then. If she did not...he had no right to live. He was alone in this clan now. Without Serenewinter, Abysspaw would never talk to him. She would be a warrior soon, the same den, and she would never talk to him. His chest heaved as a sigh engulfed his body, the only sound he had made since the returning to camp.

Shatteredrose's eyes could only see the world in grey today, and that wasn't even because of the light drizzle. Why hadn't she taken her opportunity in the battle, and thrown herself into the path of some cat, and begged them to end her life? No, she had just acted like a coward. She wanted to scream out her annoyance at something. She saw Buzzardpaw, sitting nearby. No, she wouldn't take out any of her frustration on him. It wouldn't hurt to be friendly though. "Buzzardpaw," she nodded to him as she approached. Where was his mentor? Surely he should have been out training or something, after all, it seemed as though the other apprentices were.

The tabby cat had been waiting patiently, much unlike him, when he noticed Shatteredrose. She had called him over in a soft voice and he padded over to her. Of course, she was wondering about his mentor. Northwind was just a lazy warrior who didn't deserve to be a warrior. Buzzardpaw hadn't seen much of his mentor as of late, so he was on a search for someone to relieve his boredom. He took a deep breath before asking, almost begging Shatteredrose to take him hunting or just plain walk around the forest. "Uh, um, Shatteredrose, could you um, take me out of camp to um, do something other than sit here?" His voice was pleading, not wanting to be denied of his request. Never being able to actually leave camp and do something was actually making him softer, less harsh and demanding. It was tearing him apart, piece by piece, and he was about to break, lest some cat quickly restored him by letting his nose inhale the crisp air of the forest.

road i cruise is a bitch now you know you cant turn me round and if a house gets in my way you know I'll burn it down you ran the night that you left me you put me in my place i got you in a stranglehold baby that night I crossed your face Battle won. Mission acomplished.
Her features were beaming bright like a little sun, a little black moon with sparkling gems of jade for eyes, faceted to glance off the light, reflecting it in her smile. All this through the constand trickle of blood, streaming down her face. She wanted claps on the back, tail flicks over her good ear, smiles and praise. She wouldn't get it, but she imagined it, she fought like a warrior, she showed the cocky little sucker, and she showed him she was a force. No wimp was she... maybe she, too, would become a battle-hungry fighting machine like her brother, like Summerpath and Northwind. the thought was satisfying. A hero of any sort would do.. the fighting, the gore, the pain.. none of it terrified her as much as she percieved it might, in her blood, maybe.
Bright alabaster teeth flashed against her swarthy mask despite herself. Still, Serenewinter was gone? Dead? No, Flamingarrow had proved that MaliceClan weren't as cowardly and merciless as they pretended to be in letting her live, training her, and expecting her to fight against her friends and family. Silly fools. But still... her idol, she one she modeled her life after.. gone. Poor Darkfog. He'd be back to his old suicidal ways now with the snowy she-cat gone. Looking around, Abysspaw caught sight of him and sighed at his glum features, and cut her way through the crowd to him. Wordlessly, the black she-cat pushed forward and rest her head on his shoulder.

Shatteredrose looked at the apprentice for a moment. She wondered why on earth he had turned to her of all cats to ask to take him out into the forest. He must really have been desperate. Mentally laughing in her usual dark way, she replied, "Sure. We can go hunting." She almost added her previous thoughts, almost asked him why he didn't go with some other cat. But she didn't. She just started to head off towards the camp entrance, her tail and head low. Perhaps Buzzardpaw felt like her, felt like the days were stretching on and on with no point to them. He may have had his reasons. She didn't seem to. Reaching the entrance she turned to see if the apprentice was following.

this heart, it beats, beats for only you my heart is yours please don't go now, please don't fade away ~my heart, paramore The wind whispered comforting words in her ears, filling her brain with the soft carasses that numbed the pain. It came in courses, first would be mind numbing, second wouldn't be as bad, third made it seem like the pain was done coming back. But then the whole thing would repeat again. The wounds weren't exactly the worst, but the wound on her neck had been reopened though it wasn't nearly as severe as before. Dustedrose breathed out a sigh of relief, it was all over, no more. They were done fighting for the moment and it was glorious. That was it.
She couldn't wait to see her Northy again, it had been too long. Well, in all reality it had only been a short time though it seemed like forever. Dustedrose mustered up the rest of her energy and pelted into the camp, taking it the scent of all her familiar clanmates. Then there was Northwind's. Dusty could feel the pain melt away as she tackled him with a delighted giggle. Not the girly-girl kind, just between a giggle and a laugh.

Buzzarpaw was relieved. Now he could go outside and let the breeze ruffle his pelt as he dashed through the forest. He longed to feel the warm flesh of a mouse in his jaws, the warm blood oozing from its death wound. Shatteredrose was clearly more responsible than Northwind. He walked up to the entrance to stand beside the she cat. Quickly his patience waned as he stood there, but he knew that Shatteredrose was going to let him out of his cage. He was going to be a bird flying free into the sky. Though, he would have to return to camp before the day was done. There, he stood at the entrance, eager to take off, to begin his hunt.

snapsnapsnap snapsnapsnap snapsnapsnap snapsnapsnap snapsnapsnap snapsnapsnap
His foot hit the ground, and the twig snapped. He stepped out of the den, with a glance back at the sleeping cats. He looked out into the camp, and he noticed Chasmriver entering the camp. He didn't exactly hate the tom, but he certainly disliked him. He stalked off toward the fresh-kill pile, and picked up a mouse by it's tail. He neatly dug into his small meal, and he was done in no time. He stood up and stretched, letting out a small yawn. In the corner of his eye, an orange cat entered his vision. He looked directly at the cat, and his eyes narrowed. Flamingarrow. The dirty, filthy, horrible she-cat that had lived with MaliceClan for about two moons. He didn't trust her at all, even if it was only two moons. He scowled, and approached her. "Flamingarrow? More like Malicearrow." he hissed, smirking. He let out a laugh as he saw her face. The orange she-cat had looked at him innocently, and then her beautiful face had become twisted with a glare, or was it a scowl? Either way, it was funny. "Oh, are you going to just stand there? Or are you going to fight back like they showed you to?" he meowed harshly, then cackled again. Oh, this was fun. "Hey loo-ook! It's Knifie's Wittow Pet! What'd she show you, Flamingasshole? Show you how to kill stuff so slowly you can hear 'em in your dreams, smilin' happy as you recall your murders as I'm sure he DID. Good thing he's dead now, huh?" he called to the Clan, laughing uncontrollably.

Inspiring, shining, rising And when you're in my way I'm not dividing me from you cause we're working together Perfect in its splendor like the currents of the weather The splinter in my center hindering all of my pleasure Is me manifested as you in this endeavor Once responsibility is taken I can render Experience to be however I want to remember Swaggering into camp, tail swinging fine along behind him, held to the sky like a banner of his presense, feathery hairs dancing in the faint, undetectable zephyrs drifting lazily around camp. Glancing over sidelong, he noticed that Flamingarrow, too, had wandered back to camp. Snorting he continued his long-legged stride toward the fresh-kill pile, rough gray padded toes stretching, reaching for each step, mouth filling with saliva at the tantalizing scent radiating forth from the pile of gory carcasses. Looked like the hunting patrol had alreayd returned, which was impressive after such a hard battle. Sighing with relief, he sunk toward the pile, folding his limbs beneath him. Chasmriver didn't even bother to snatch and drag away a tasty corpse, instead he carelessly extended his neck to bite the first thing that caressed him lips, chewing slowly to savor it, and swallowing with ease. It was then that he dragged the small snake to his chest, happily tucking away into it.
Suddenly, his head shot up, striking amber eyes flashing like lightning with the words that suddenly crashed into him, panging his chest and echoing in his ears. Mustering up all insults and curses he remembered throughout his young life, the massive tabby, narrowed his eyes to accusing slits and pushed his frame away from the dirt and, regretably, away from his halfway finished meal, to drift before Cedarsnap. "Oh hello." He murmured, a smirk twisting half of his mark into a smug expression. "Looks like MaliceClan at least taught her a lesson in manners, huh? Maybe Lynxstar should toss you to 'em, heh? Maybe they could knock some chivalry into ya." He let out a humorless throaty laugh. His eyes lit up like Cedarsnap's ignorance led a magical ignition system inside of Chasmriver. "Now I understand why Cedarsnap here hasn't conceived any babies, eh?"
