Lightningstrike bounded into the camp's central clearing, his spirits soaring higher than the clouds. He paused only for a moment to make sure Shadewing had accompanied him all the way. Life doesn't get any better than this, he decided, taking in the peaceful camp atmosphere and the day's events. Life would be so much different now, with a she-cat to love and protect, but he was more than ready for the change. A sheer happiness welled up inside of him. So this was love.

Shadewing padded into camp behind Lightningstrike with a new bounce in her step. She didn't know what to do next. Happiness and love. That's what she felt but it was all new to her. Completely new and she had no clue what to do with them. What is the next step? The grey she-cat thought to herself. She new Rainflower would want to know but Shadewing could see that Rainflower was busy taking care of Omencurse. Shadewing would have to wait to tell her until after Rainflower was done with the quiet tom.

Lightningstrike parted his jaws to say something when a coughing and spluttering erupted from the medicine cat den. His ears flattened instinctively as he flinched. "Sounds like he's got a nasty cough..." he mumbled, but he wasn't concerned. The fits of greencough came only during Leafbare. Shadewing, though, he noticed, was peering over at the den almost impatiently. Oh, he realized, she's probably wanting to talk to Rainflower about this... He felt a pang of sadness. It wasn't like he had anyone who would care to tell the news to. But that would change; now he had someone he could tell anything to.
