A small feline strutted slowly through the long grass, herlight ginger paws dampened by the moist meadow. Dark amber eyes slid back and forth, gleaming with a proud light. Too easy. She scoffed, snickering. For as long as she, Honeypaw, had been told, she was warned that she would never be able to sneak away from camp. Never. It seemed today however that the idea to discourage the sly apprentice from leaving camp had been shattered. And all it took was one plump vole! She thought victoriously. Using her masterful skills of persuasion, aided by a little bribe, she had been allowed out by the guard who hadn't eaten yet. It was simple really. Offer them what they want, and you'll recieve much more in return.
Purring in satisfaction, Honeypaw picked up her pace slightly, tail curled low in a slight question mark. As stated before, she was clever. Clever enough to know that she could blend in better here among the grass. In the evergreen forest she stuck out like a blue jay in winter. You'd have to be stupid to wander around there and expect to remain hidden. No, this was the best place to be....For now.
Honeypaw frowned as she felt the hunger that gnawed at her stomach. She hadn't eaten before she had left camp. True, she hadn't been training much, but she had in fact been watching others hunt. It seemed quite easy to the she-cat. Slowly searching the meadow for any rustle, she caught the delicious scent of mouse. The young cat licked her lips as she scent curled around her mind. Peering closely at the grass, she soon spotted the smooth pelt of the mouse. Crouching down, she could hardly keep her tail from twitching. This mouse was plump; A good sign of a good meal. Time seemed to slow as Honeypaw launched forward, unheard cries of hunger echoing in her focused mind. There was a small squeak of pain and a splash of vibrant red on the surrounding stalks as another life passed. The apprentice lowered herself to the ground, devoring the small creature in a few, ravenous bites. Blood stained her muzzle as she again continued on her unknown journey, her eyes narrowed in satisfaction. This was WAY better than training!

"Harvestmoon!"
Her voice rang out over the moorlands shadowing the crisp lake, as did the gentle melody of water being splashed about, followed by a musical laughter on Driftingice's part, her blue eyes sparkling and alive as she romped through the chilled lake with her blood friend. Water spilling down her sleek pelt rather than soaking in, which was fortunate for her. Grinning, she slammed her paw into the lake, spraying the cool liquid all over her red friend's pelt.
"Stop,"
Harvestmoon meowed, pausing where she stand, to her belly in the freezing water, her fur soaked end to end. Her ruffled fur and numb paws did not jynx her senses, though, for the scent of her apprentice, and the sound of rustling moorgrass soundied in her ears, and, oh-so-slowly, the mottled she-cat crept out of the water, edging towards the sound.
"Honeypaw!" She snapped, her voice scolding, but her eyes were humourous and slightly understanding, for how mischeivious she was as an apprentice.
"What in StarClan are you doing out here?" She inquired coldly, striding purposefully towards the mischeivious apprentice, a dripping Driftingice at her side. badbadbad.

Honeypaw froze, silently cursing mentally. Of course Harvestmoon would be out here. Fate was cruel enough to her already, why not add insult to her already large injury? The small she-cat sighed before putting on a bright and sickingly happy expression, turning on the spot and raising her golden tail in greeting. The fake expression was a well-used one, one that she was good at acheiving faster each time. It was as if this was an expression that actually was used for good intentions. But, sadly, it never was. "Harvestmoon! I didn't expect to see you here! She meowed, forcing the words past her lips. How she hated this! "I.....I well, was going to to surprise you. I was going out early to hunt and get back before you awoke. I just wanted to help." She meowed sadly, shuffling her paws. This act was perfect! The lies ran like the stream, the sorrow and disappointment easily ringing in the air. All too late she remembered the tell-tale blood that covered her muzzle. Swallowing, she began to clean, but with a sinking heart she realized the damage was doen.

A long-bodied grey and white tom came bounding over the hills in search of some prey. It had been some time since he had gone hunting, and he felt the need to go out again. He had left came only a little while ago, so he hadn't had much time to catch anything, but he felt convinced that he could catch at least something. The weather wasn't too bad, Ashensky could probably catch something.
His ears perked as he heard something. Meowing? Who else was out right now, the ZephyrClan deputy wondered. He took swift, light steps towards where he heard the other cats. From their smell, he guessed at least Honeypaw was out there, but he wasn't entirely sure about it. He was fairly certain there also had to be at least one other cat out there, for why would the apprentice be talking to herself? And why was she out right now? She was probably out training with Harvestmoon or something, he was sure.
As he approached, he saw that indeed, Honeypaw and Harvestmoon were out, as well as Driftingice. Both warriors seemed wet. Amazing, he thought. It was so cold and yet they were still willing to go out and take a dip? Surprising. On Honeypaw's muzzle, though she was cleaning it, he could see blood. Harvestmoon seemed to be scolding her but at the same time not.
Ashensky eyed the cats curiously, unsure whether or not he should make himself noticed. He decided he might as well. He didn't want to seem like he was spying on them or anything. A good deputy would never spy, and he wasn't about to let that happen. He padded forward towards them and let words pass through his lips. "What is going on here?" His voice was not threatening or anything of that sort, more curious and confused.

A scowl weaving its way over her smile, as the chilly air finally began to soak into her sopping fur, making her shiver, she coughed, and spoke, sarcasm running smoothly in her voice.
"Really? Well then! What a nice apprentice!"
She cooed, with an equally sickening voice, Driftingice remained silent, and her features solumn as her freind played Honeypaw's fiddle.
"Are you willing to suck it up to your deputy as well? I'd be more than happy to let you!"
She dipped her head to the handsome tom, giving a small smile, while Driftingice only looked at him, knowing she was always an outsider in her clan, she did not dip her head, but met his cool green eyes and looked away. As Ashensky spoke curiously, she tossed her head towards her mischeivious apprentice.
"Yes, Honeypaw, what's going on here?"
The red she-cat mewed, keeeping her voice upbeat and over-enthusiastic, while a sick smile to match Honeypaw's was oozed onto her pretty features.

Larkstar braced herself for the cool tinge of the lakewater on her tongue. Silently she lapped it up, watching the rising sun slowly dissipate the morning fog. As she lifted her head from the lake's surface, the tiny beads of water rolling down her whiskers, her ears flicked. "What is going on here?" a distant voice asked, somewhere far out on the moor. Larkstar rotated her head curiously, still crouched at the water's edge. She recognized the voice and soot-gray pelt of her deputy, Ashensky, as well as several other cats - all ZephyrClan as well, by the smell and sounds of it. The strikingly pretty Driftingice, seeming almost divine with her pure white coat...and Harvestmoon. She wasn't surprised, the two stuck together like tree sap. No, wait, there was another. The apprentice Honeypaw, keeping her cool underneath the boring gaze of both Harvestmoon and Ashensky. She placed a cautious paw forward to intervene, then stopped. Ashensky would have things under control...perhaps it was better just to watch.
She settled herself behind a wall of gorse, positive she was out of earshot. No cat would be surprised to find her here anyways, the small-statured leader was prone to wandering anyways.

Honeypaw turned her cool gaze to Ashensky, dipping her head along with her mentor. But it was not only out of respect. Never. It was to buy time to cover up the uncertainly that seemed to be radiating from her eyes. Shivering slightly as a light breeze blew, Honeypaw looked back up at the tom. She would have to do her best and use her skills to worm herself out of this one. Putting on a fresh smile, the apprentice flattened her ears slightly, her eyes widening just a small bit. The words that came next tumbled from her mouth as smoothly as a leaf would drift from a tree branch.
"Honestly, I thought she was still on patrol or asleep or something. I didn't see her when I left to go hunt. That mouse I just finished was just to keep up my strength because I didn't eat at camp. I wasn't hungry at the time." She meowed, surprised to realize that some of the words she had spoken were the truth.
(Bleh. Bad post. But I have no time! GAH!)

The deputy looked at Honeypaw's mentor with his whiskers twitching in amusement. Harvestmoon was half teasing the younger she-cat but was still scolding at the same time. He almost envied her for such good skills at keeping apprentices well-behaved. He was decently good at passing on the skills he had learned in his earlier moons on to the new waves of young cats, but at a certain rate you could admit he just wasn't good at keeping some cats under control, even with as much authority as he had. The tom didn't notice the leader who was watching them from a distance- he wasn't sure anyone had.
His yellow-green gaze shifted back to the apprentice as she began to speak, giving her reason for being out of camp and eating a mouse. It sounded pretty straight-forward and reasonable. But still, the young she-cat shouldn't have been eating prey that she caught. He wasn't sure if the apprentice's words were true or not, but he had no reason to doubt her.
"Alright, Honeypaw," Ashensky said. "I'll take that. Harvestmoon has her say in what happens, but since this is the first time I've heard of this happening, I'll just let it slide. But remember that you should check with your mentor." He sat down and neatly curled his fluffy gray tail around his paws. "But that's just my word. Harvestmoon has the right to do whatever she wants. If she wishes to tell Larkstar, that's her decision." He nodded at the she-cat. True, he was deputy, and he knew that he might want to do something, but he didn't want to seem imposing to Harvestmoon, so he would let her decide more what she would do.

Acting quite relieved, Honeypaw's tail shot straight up in the air, the tip twitching ever so slightly. She fixed her eyes in a delighted sparkle, even throwing in a grateful purr. She was actually amazed. Had they actually bought that tall of a story? Part of her believed it, but part of her didn't. Oh well. As usual, the arrogant part of her personality was triumphant over the reasonal part. "Thank you Ashensky! She meowed in a delighted voice, now looking to Harvestmoon in fake hope. Now if her mentor disagreed, she'd have to bribe someone again. This time it would be harder. "I won't do it again Harvestmoon. I'll ask first. Honeypaw meowed, the lie sliding smoothly into the spring air. (Gosh. I'm like stuck on Writer's Block lately. )

Taking no notice of her lurking leader, the fiery warrior was quick to snap, and was not slipping her trademark now, oh no. She would never. Taking no notice of her timid, mouse-like friend at her side, flanking her, nor the push-over deputy sauntering about, adjacent to her nimble paws, Harvestmoon strode towards her sly apprentice, and let out a rumbling, cheesy laugh. "Ah ha ha.. you silly apprentice." She flicked her tail to Ashensky, glad he would happily let her take over. She stopped only a few mouselengths away from the golden apprentice, and stared down her nose, quite definatly, at her, snorted. "You think you're cute? I don't, too bad for you, I know all your silly little tricks, and I see your sense of acomplishement in your eyes as you confidently tell your mentor and your deputy lies. Ha ha." She shook her head and clicked her tougue, glad she had such a foolish apprentice to toy with. "Well, I'll have you know, miss, I was quite like you as an apprentice, I played your tricks, and I am no push-over, I think you soon learn, after you realize I'm not kidding, sas." She flicked her tail. "Are you willing to tell the same lies to Larkstar?" She kept a subtle smirk hidden beanth scolding green eyes.

Honeypaw stared right back, her own eyes narrowed to slits. Though she appeared to be cool and calm, she was rather impressed and disappointed at the same time. Impressed that she had a mentor that was quick enough to recognize the lies, yet disappointed that she wasn't a push over like the rest of her so-called clan. Yet, she claimed to know the tricks of the trade? We'll see about that, won't we? Honeypaw thought, her own smirk flashing briefly across her face. The apprentice honestly doubted this fact. Time had gone by, new things had been discovered. There wasn't a single way Harvestmoon could know all the sly lies that Honeypaw knew. Thinking back to the situation at paw, Honeypaw mentally frowned. She still had to play her part in this position though. She'd have to do it darn well too to escape without fault.
Finally tearing her gaze from Harvestmoon, she lowered her head in mock defeat. Putting on an air of disappointed anger, the young she-cat shuffled her paws in the dust. "Fine." She muttered, only loud enough for the she-cat warrior to hear her. For now she would pretend to back down. But there would be a time where she wouldn't. She'd make sure of that.

At her wayward apprentice's little act, Harvestmoon quietly blew through her lips, letting her auds slowly fold, so they were doubled back. She had quite an exasperated look upon her this way, as she frustratedly shook her head, peircing, cold green irises quickly rolled about, and came to a stop on Honeypaw's pitiful self, wondering if all she knew was 'mock' none of her feelings were real, and she sadly wondered if the smug apprentice had any friends, or ever would. If she kept going like this, it was doubted. Putting on a crooked grin, the warrior spoke. "Well," She purred, satisfied, even if none of it was a real, but a simple act by a mischeivious apprentice, she might as well let her think she's won. "Because it seems you've taken a small blow to your oversized ego, I won't punish you. Mind you, this is not a display of my being a push-over, but of my pity to you. Next time I catch you attempting of of your 'sly' little mouse-brained tricks, as just a cry for attention, you'll be serving the grumpiest elder I choose as their personal assistant. Are we clear?" It took all she had in her body and soul not to spit the last sentence.

Honeypaw couldn't help but duck her head to give a satisfied smile. It had worked! She couldn't believe it! So happy that her mentor had fallen for it, she didn't stop to consider the fact that Harvestmoon might be doing the same thing to her....Only better. Though Honeypaw wasn't too fond of the sentence where her mentor said she pitied here. Oh how Honeypaw hated that! However, it was just something that needed to be tolerated. She could take it. She knew she could.
"Crystal clear." Honeypaw meowed, unable to keep her gaze steady. Instead she perked her ears and gazed in another direction, as if she had heard something.

Driftingice spoke, for the first time, but not to Honeypaw, but to Harvestmoon. Her voice was as musical as her pelt was beautiful, as her clear blue eyes danced uncertainly. "She isn't finished deceiving you, Harvestmoon." She meowed, though her voice was quiet, it was certain, and quite cold. She was not fond of Honeypaw, in fact, she felt a deepwrath towards her that was horrifyingly close to hatred, which scared her, but she could not help it. Honeypaw was a brat! The timid she-cat was not surprised to see a smirk bloom on Harvestmoon's face, and she tossed her head like a pony. "Ha!" She red she-cat purred, flicking her tail. "I know. She's so deceiving, is she? Think I can't see that? I couldn't pound a thing into her brain, I'd be surprised if she makes it to being a warrior. StarClan, she's barely got any real feelings but 'satisfaction' of her mock feelings!" She chuckled, well aware of Honeypaw listening. "Well, she prolly won't listen to a thing I say during battle training, and get killed in her first border scuffle, or she'll be knocked back to a kit next time she decides to get cocky." She shrugged. "Either way. She seems to think I was born yesterday, well... maybe she day before." She threw and icy look at her apprentice. "Take that as a warning, Honeypaw. You are not as slick as you think you are, ma'am." Turning back to Driftingice, she flicked her ear nonchalantly. "Shall we go hunting?" Driftingice gave a purr at her friend and nodded. "Sure!"

OOc: *Evil smile*
BIc: Honeypaw snapped her gaze from Harvestmoon, her fur bristling with fury. How had the other cat known? Glaring at Driftingice, she hissed loudly, a growl rumbling in her throat. The words her mentor spoke stung, but had no effect on her. Hardly anything seemed to anymore. She was unfeeling, cold. Gone as far as she could go, for nothing. This wasn't her home. Never was.
The apprentice snorted, a smirk still displayed on her face. Not glancing back at Harvestmoon, the ginger tabby began to pad away. "I'm more the warrior you two'll ever be." She called back, her voice cool and steady. She already knew what she was going to do. It was simple. Why stay when the clan did nothing for her? The life of a loner seemed so much more satisfying. Or maybe join another clan and end up facing Harvestmoon in battle. Wouldn't that be a nasty surprise for her so-called mentor! It wasn't like the sorry excuse for a warrior trained her in anyway. Honeypaw had learned hunting by watching others, though weak on her battling. And who's fault was that? Not her's, that was for sure.
