Phoenixsight -
It was evening already, his ginger fur glowing a fiery color, vivid green gaze surveying the camp and the cats there. Phoenixsight had already sent out the Border patrol earlier in the day, at sun high, with the great ball of flame high in a clear blue sky. It was a warm evening, for the Leaf Bare season, and he was hopeful that New Leaf would rise soon, bringing more prey in. Still, territory flush with prey or not, it was time to start a hunting patrol. It was, after all, his duty as the clan deputy. One that he took very seriously.
Celestialclan camp sat on a bit of a hill, not overly steep, though the ground sloped leisurely downward. Most of the territory was like that, and earlier in the day, while guarding the camp, he had taken a fall downward, bracing himself with his paws. Phoenixsight could feel soft sand underfoot now, and it comforted the cuts on his pawpads from the rocks. He hadn't been hurt that badly; and because it could have been a serious injury, his dignity had been preserved by those that had seen him. Now, remembering the rushing feeling in his chest he had felt as he fell and then the relief at catching himself, he turned and looked at the cats in the camp. Their numbers were low now, and he hoped also that there would be a litter soon. Celestialclan needed new blood; new apprentices to train, and of course, strong, new warriors. Training apprentices was a wonderful task; taking a cat that knew nothing and watching them grow lean and strong, ready to hunt and become a warrior that would fiercely defend their clan, just as he did. Recently his own apprentice, Silverpaw, had become a warrior named Silverbrook. He was more than a little proud of her for coming so far. "Creektwist, Rosepaw." Phoenixsight meowed, calling the mentor and apprentice over as they entered camp. He frowned; most of the other cats were tired or busy, having been sent out on other patrols. It would be a small patrol, but that was better anyway, he reminded himself; there would be less noise as they stalked their prey, and hopefully more kills.
"I need you two for the hunting patrol. Creektwist, if you've finished training with Rosepaw for today, can you accompany me?" He glanced at the spotted tom, dipping his head as he approached. "If you've been out today, I thought you might be able to suggest a good place to hunt where not many have been. "
