Mouse. The warm scent of it gently tickled Whitepaw's nose, surprising her, as mice weren't exactly common to see in the rocky land that was CelestialClan's. Unexpected as it was, she didn't make any sort of sudden movements, as she was suddenly afraid of frightening it. Slowly, carefully, her small body moved so that she was facing the direction where the scent came from, and there it was: small, brown, and looking quite tasty already. Whitepaw dropped instinctively into a hunting crouch, keeping her weight more in her body than her paws, as mice felt your movements in the earth before they even smelled you. Each step she took was sure, each crumbling rock that moved beneath her paws sounding as if it had moved on its own. So far the mouse suspected nothing. But, as StarClan would have it, the rodent raised its tiny head without warning, glaring in one direction. Whitepaw stopped in place, one paw suspended in the air, twitching her white whiskers impatiently. Then it happened; the mouse made a run for it and Whitepaw bolted after it.
It was rather an unfair race, though, as the rodent had had a bit of a headstart and quickly ducked into a minuscule burrow, its safe haven, before its pursuer even had a chance to sort out what was about to happen. "Mousedung," The predator spat, falling roughly onto her behind. She glared for a while at the itty-bitty hole where her prey had just escaped her, wondering what had alerted it of her presence. After several minutes of wondering, Whitepaw could come up with no plausible reason and decided she'd better continue hunting. All she'd caught so far was a squirrel, and she suspected it was mostly made up of fur with little actual meat on its bones. "If I were a warrior," The she-cat started, grumbling to herself. "That hairball wouldn't have gotten away!" She said this as if warriors never messed things up, never missed a perfectly easy hunt. In her mind, they didn't, but as an apprentice she had yet to learn the trials and tribulations that came with the beauty of a warrior name and status.
