Ahh, new life. Four fresh new apprentices, who would be bounding forth from the mouth of the nursery at any moment, Abyssbird at their heels, threatening the roughest bathing of their lives if they didn't hold still. There was nothing about apprentice ceremonies that Lynxstar found easy to dislike,or anyone, for that matter. The other kits of the nursery? Well, perhaps only them, but their time would come eventually, and the leader knew that Serenewinter certainly would have a breath of fresh air, and perhaps so would the young blue-eyed black she-cat Abyssbird for moving back into the warrior's den. No, Chasmriver's sister was no fighter like he, but endlessly loyal, she'd try her best anyway. After the noise and ruckus she'd called up while birthing, Lynxstar made a rough guess to assume the pretty young she-cat wouldn't become a perminent queen anytime soon. But no matter, she'd find her niche in the clan eventually, just as Lynxstar had found hers. Blinking owlishly, the bulky leader shook her bodice like a dog, most undignified, though unembarrassed thanks to the privacy of her own den. Twitching her short tail, the mottled she-cat slipped out into the sunlight and managed the faint smile to the sky. Blinking again, Lynxstar clambered up to the peak of the falllen pine and cleared her throat, glancing around. "VertigoClan!" She roared in that distinctly Lynxstar way of hers, "Please gather below Fallen Log for a meeting!"

The she-cat warrior was busy grooming her ginger fur, perfectly content. The warrior's den was so peaceful when it was quiet. She liked it that way. Nobody besides her was in here though, so it wouldn't be like that for long. She stopped and sighed. She loved the quiet, but nothing would stay the same. Change. We all had to get used to it sometime, and Crimsonspirit still hadn't gotten used to it. But she accepted that she may never get used to change. She laughed nervously, and bit her tongue. Why am I acting so strange? The ginger she-cat thought, tilting her head ever so slightly.
Crimsonspirit's ears twitched as she heard her leader's call and got up, stretching. She smiled, her tense muscles felt better. "I wonder what she's going to talk about." She wondered, and walked close, but not closest.

Meeting! Cloudstreak groaned as he rolled out of his nest. What was going on? Was the camp being attacked? The tom stumbled out of the warriors den looking distressed and confused. Was he needed? Oh. The he remembered. Kits. Apprentices. Right. He knew that. The tom chuckled to himself as he seated himself near the fallen log, but far enough away so that the kits could find their place at the front. He sniffed and closed his eyes, quietly meditating. He had been sleeping for how long? The tom hiccuped, disturbing himself. He looked up to Lynxstar and grinned. "Good morning, Lynxstar," Cloudstreak purred. The tom actually had no clue what time of the day it was but he shrugged it off and made no clear intention that he was confused. Abyssbird's kits, was he correct? The tom looked around, expecting the clearing to be filled momentarily with cats chatting to one another.

Frostbelly had just finished his breakfast, a late one for that matter. He swiped his tognue around his maw, cleaning off any traces. He would be speaking to Lynxstar soon if those apprentices didn't star bringing him his prey like they were suppossed to! He growled to himself. But perhaps Abyssbirds kits would becoem apprentices soon, and new ones were eager to do as they were told, for the fist moon or so anyways. Frostbelly smiled to himself. He flicked his one good ear up as he heard Lynxstar call out, and he fixed his bi-colored eyes on his leader. She saw her stubby tail and thick shouldered body sitting ontop of the fallen pine.
"Tigergrowl? You in there?" he caleld softly as he padded back to the elders den quickly. He hardly wanted his close friend to miss the meeting, whatever it might be about. Even if it was useless, like most things were to him these days.
[/size] ooc; Cat should we hold up the other thread until this one is over?

OOc: I believe so. XD Bic: Tigergrowl looked up from where he was grooming his torn pelt, amber eyes gleaming in the darkness. At the sound of the meeting he pricked his ears; could it possibly be Abyssbird's kit's apprentice ceremony? He had waited for days for the announcement, and it seemed to be the time that he had waited for. Of course, it could just be a regular meeting and not have anything at all to do with the kits.... Shaking his head of these thoughts, the half-blind tabby staggered out of the den, nearly running into Frostbelly though he was smelling his way around. Shaking his head in surprise, the elder chuckled. "No, I'm out here." He meowed with a spark of his old humor.
From the warrior's den came a small tabby, his green-blue eyes sparkling with humor though he had just been woken up. Moss clung to his pelt, though he merrily shook it off without giving it more than a first thought. Maplesong blinked, looking around the clearing for someone he knew. It was hard as a newer warrior; you didn't feel as comfortable around the senior warriors as you did the apprentices, whom you didn't really want to be with much. Blinking, he spotted Crimsonspirit, a she-cat he remembered vaguely from his apprentice days. She was a warrior too, though newer than him. A wide smile on his maw, he padded towards her, intent on settling beside her. "Hello Crimsonspirit!" He meowed, brightly, sitting beside the she-cat.

The young black apprentice had been relaxing in the shadows at the edge of VertigoClan camp. Her head was resting on her forepaws, short tail sweeping lightly from side to side, and her consciousness was beginning to fade into sleep. "VertigoClan!" Lynxstar's voice resounded throughout the rocky terrain, and Silentpaw sprang to her paws in surprise. At the leader's next words, the young apprentice padded slowly out of the shadows, following the direction everyone else was walking. I wonder what's going on? she thought, tilting her head to one side as she sat down at the edge of the group, her pale yellow eyes glancing around at the other cats of VertigoClan shyly. Should she try to speak to some of them? Raising her gaze, she looked around for Silentwind; the medicine cat had been very nice to Silentpaw before.

Frostbelly was just about to call again when Togergrowl came around the corner, ramming into him head on. He chuckled at his friends comment and placed his tail gently over Tigergrowl's shoulders. "I don't know what it's about, though I'd assume it's about Aybissbirds kits." he stated, flicking his one ear around, hearing all the cats of his Clan coming into the clearing. He guided Tigergrowl to a place near the front so the old tom could see his great-grand children recieve their apprentice ceremony.
"Can oyu see alright?" he asked kindly, settling down and taking his tail off Tigergrowl's broad shoulders. He looked around impatiantly, hoping to see more cats come. The sooner they could start the better he would be.

For once, the tom thought he might be a little bit kind. He turned over to see Tigergrowl and Frostbelly sitting together a little bit away from him. Oh, how the life of an elder had to be terrible. Not going out of camp, not being able to hunt or fight..That would have to be terrible! The thought alone sent shivers down his spine. Luckily, he had a while to go before he became an elder. He was an older warrior but he still had a lot of spunk let in him.
"Good morning, Frostbelly and Tigergrowl," Cloudstreak meowed, trying to keep his voice polite. "How are you two doing this morning?" he asked with a small smile.

Frostbelly turned his head sharly as he heard the approach of another cat, and his good ear swiveled back as he turned his head. He spotted Cloudstreak walking over to them. He nodded his head in greeting, and purred at the older warriors polite tone. "Hello Cloudstreak, how are you doing this morning?" he asked gruffly, his bi-colored eyes searching the warriors face. 'Oh me I'm fine, just trying not to lose the hearing in m'other ear. Y'know it's hard for us old elders, me and Tigergrowl. We both hafta help each other out nowadays, half blind one is and half deaf the other is." he chuckled lowly.
"Would you happen to know what this meeting is about?" he asked right afterwards, gazing up at Lynxstar again. "Hmmm I should talk to her about those pesky apprentices. None are comin' to bring us breakfast anymore, silly things." he scolded harshly.

Cloudstreak chuckled happily and whole-heartedly. The toms tail curled around his paws and he listened to the elder. "Oh, I'm doing quite fine, although I do believe I'm missing out on working on getting my hearing lost," he purred with a small smile. He always felt close to the elders. His father, Snowclaw, had recently passed away as an elder. He had lived a whole, good life, though and he seemed to appreciate the elders more than anyone else -- apart from Lynxstar. She was completely different.
"Oh, this ceremony? I do not know, but all I can guess is that Abyssbird's kits are getting apprenticed. They'll help you out with your breakfast, I'm sure. If I receive an apprentice, I'll remember to send them into your den after their first catch and offer it to you, how about that?" the warrior asked happily, his tail flicking. He felt whole right now, so why not take the chance and be nice?

Darkfog sighed softly, rising from the warrior's den and making his way towards the call. Abyssbird's kits would becoming apprentices today. They were his kits, until he had sided with Serenewinter. She had always kept his heart and she would keep it now more than ever. He even would claim the kits she had as his own. Of course it had caused some gossip in the clan but did he really care? The white long furred tom moved towards the gathering crowd, sitting on the outskirts of the cats he knew. He wasn't ready to dive right in and participate. He would find Serenewinter perhaps later, if she showed up?
---
The ebony she-cat was something to be dealt with. She was beautiful and alluring at a young age of 6 moons. Her sleek fur was like her mother's, short and dark in color. She didn't resemble her father at all. For that she was grateful. She had a hate towards him that no cat could describe. The anger that flared and burned in her soul would echo throughout the years. An endless everlasting flame. Her gray ghostly eyes stared at her brother Gloomkit for a split second before snapping back to the entrance of the nursery. She gave a playful smirk, wiping away the anger that had filled her a moment before. Her mother was...there! Giving a slight pounce the she-cat landed on her mother giving a growl before rolling off with laughter. Her ears caught a sound calling her and all the other cats. Lynxstar had made the call, let her fulfill it. Walking out of the nursery she noticed the all too familiar white pelt of Darkfog, her once father. She ignored it and kept walking.
--
Ohhh how was she ever going to do this?! Strode out in front of the others like some parading proud she-cat. Never possible. The small calico she-cat let her dull amber shaded eyes lock onto the ground. Her body gave a soft heave of the sides as she sighed. Her small ears twitched quickly as Spellkit pounced on Abyssbird and then Lynxstar gave the call. "Oh Starclan help me." She murmured softly to herself. She wanted to run and hide but there was no turning back now. She hesitated, waiting for another to parade after Spellkit.

Frostbelly nodded his head, his one ear twitching. 'You better Mr. Cloudstreak!" he laughed whole-heartedly. Oh those young apprentices would be hearing from him thats for sure. His bi-colored eyes sparked with interest at Cloudstreak's mention of Abyssbirds kits. "Why yes I guess it is about time for that isn't it now?" he murmured, flicking Tigergrowl on the shoulder lightly with his tail. "Yes old Tigergrowl here won't let me forget I'm missing out on life, no children or grandchildren, or in his case great-grand children!" he chuckled lowly to his friend.
He turned as he saw Darkfog trot out of the warriors den. How any cat would get mixed up with that fool was ridiculous. The tom was horrid to Abyssbird, she had born his kits and he hardly knew she existed. All he cared about was that Serenewinter, who had showed up out of the blue. But Frostbelly stopped himself from growling and quickly turned his attention to the few kits that were trotting out of the nursery.

The white she-cat flinched as she heard the words being called out. Her bones felt sore and stiff, soon she would be as unfit as she used to be, but no, she would not let that happen. Yet, how could she prevent that happening? If she went out to the terra, who knew if Delirium were there or not waiting to slaughter her for her kits! Now she wasn't the nicest cat around anymore, but her kits made her hold on to that sweet voice inside her head that always told her to do everything right. She could always stay close to camp, but she would need someone to watch the kits. Maybe it was time she spoke to Radianteclipse again. She did often wonder how that she-cat was. At least things were back to how they always were again, she was with Darkfog and they could always be together. That's how it had meant to be from the start, but then Delirium got their paws on her, and in the moons she was absent, Abyssbird took this oppertunity to get her claws on her man. Yet, she knew she would be setting a bad example for her kits, sitting her missing out on a clan meeting, after all they were looking so expectantly at her. Sighing she herded them together with her tail and brought them outside with her. Tired, she flopped down again outside the nursery.
Hearing the call Radianteclipse looked round to see Lynxstar upon her perch. She looked for any of her friends, but she saw none that she could recognise quite yet. Just then Serenewinter joined the gathering, she tried not to look at the lean white queen with two perfect white kits. She only had one remaining of her litter, and that was Reflectedpaw, her beloved son. Though, he had been what had gotten between her friendship with Serenewinter, maybe it wasn't too late to talk to her. Yet, she still turned away. Padding closed to the small crowd of cats already gathered she took a seat and wrapped her tail around her paws.

Flarefrenzy resided inside the warriors den until her ears caught familiar vibrations from the center of the camp. Lynxstar is holding a meeting? I wonder what for?,she questioned herself while toned legs bolstered her mighty bodice to the source of the commotion. Flare padded silently past lynxstar and portrayed a courteous bow, "Good afternoon, Lynxstar. Today must be a special day."A warm smile played across the she-cats lips with a chuckle emitting from her vocal chambers. Crafty paws decided to take her to the spot inhabited by elders and a singular warrior. "Hello Frostbelly, Tigergrowl, and cloudstreak. Did I hear there was going to be an apprentice ceremony? Sounds exciting!"Flarefrenzy chuckled and revealed another smile, but with a gentler element to it. Round bottom placed it's self in between the two elders, while her noble skull raised slightly. It was a bad habit, but whenever Flarefrenzy felt comfortable she tended to make herself appear proud. "How have you two been getting on? I hope the heat hasn't troubled you at all?"A soothing tone escaped from her lips as she addressed the two elders, bearing a tranquil expression. Glowing golden eyes traced the elder, frostbelly's gaze which lead to a warrior named, darkfog. Expression instantly turned to one of scorning and disgust, while she glared at the foolish tom. "Such a dishonorable wretch he is." She whispered harshly to herself until she had to drag her fiery gaze away. Darkfog was a fool!!!! To be so selfish to jump around from she-cat to she-cat, producing pleasure for him , while pain tormented abyssbird and her young. Why did Flarefrenzy hate him so much? Could it have been that her father walked out on her mother to pursue another she-cat aswell, or does it show lack of commitment? How could one possibly be committed to his clan if he couldn't commit himself to one mate. Either way in Flarefrenzy's eyes he was a very dishonorable tom and nothing more.

Heatkit stood at the entrance to the nursery, watching as Gloomkit walked with pride in his step on his way to become an apprentice. Abyssbird walked beside his cousin like the true mother she was. It wasn't fair! That snake of a kit didn't deserve to become Gloompaw yet, even if Gloomkit was slightly older than his fiery cousin and age-wise had been eligible for apprenticeship for quite a while longer than Heatkit had been. The swarthy tom was a horrid bully that constantly, avidly, mocked each and every kit in the nursery. Now the obsidian and sterling kitten would be pestering all of the apprentices, but he would always come off as the innocent one that had done no wrong in the eyes of the Warriors. Sniffing the air, the ginger tom looked back in the nursery at the nest that had once held his mother. Where was she at? There was a hole in the place that Flamingarrow had been in his heart, but he would always love her. Knowing the way she was stubborn and always chastising him without relent, she would be back for her kits and for her Clan. It wasn't fair that Gloomkit and Spellkit were being hurriedly looked over by their mother either. Flamingarrow should be here for this! Sudden anger toward his mother caught him by surprise, but she should have been there. He sighed. Heatkit should be excited that he was going to be an apprentice. Of course he was, but it would have been better to have a mother there. Stiffening up as he felt a hostile gaze on him, he glared back at Gloomkit who was currently mouthing harsh words to Heatkit.
--
The smirk upon his face seemed to never or even want to disappear. He was going to be an apprentice. Gloomkit would work hard to have a slight authority over his cousins, the worthless and motherless kits and apprentices they were and would be. Stifling a chuckle as he looked back to see the stricken look on Heatkit's twisted face, he swallowed the cruelty and spoke to his mother. "I'm excited to become an apprentice, but I do worry about Heatkit and the others. Flamingarrow has been gone for quite a while, Mother." The dark tom inquired, thoughtfully looking up to his beautiful, yet overwhelmed, mother. It was all fake, of course. Becoming an apprentice had never excited him in any way at all, but the idea of being better than stupid Flamingarrow's children did. Gloomkit had to become better than them; he would do anything. He glanced at his sister, and shot her a proud smile. Oh, he was very glad she had made it this far. Looking back at the heated tom, his smirk became even more so etched upon his face. 'Worthless and motherless brat!' were the words he chose to silently insult his cousin with by mouthing them to him. Yes, he was enjoying himself now.
