Meadowstream blinked the sleep out of her eyes, her green eyes wandered around the nursery, glancing around for the entrance. Her large belly poofed out beside her, and she smiled as she looked at it. Her and Fadedstripes kits. The two of them. She groaned slightly as she lifed her enormous weight, and standing she walked slowly out of the nursery.
Her calico pelt was ruffled by the slight wind that greeted her. She was glad her kits would be in the nursery, where it was nice and warm. She looked for the gray silver tabby pelt of her mate, Fadedstripe. She let out a yawn, her maw splitting open. "Fadedstripe where are you?" she murmered softly to herself, looking around.
Suddenly a pang shot through her belly and she let out a shriek. Her belly convulsed and she winced harshly, reassuring herself it was normal. She was late though, sure her ktis were overdue by a few days. Maybe...maybe this was it. Her eyes grew wide as she realized she was in labour. Mother no! StarClan help me!" she wailed softly, her legs crumpling underneath her she collapsed, breathing heavily.

Fadedstripe had been out hunting, but he came up empty handed. Twice, he had almost gotten a few rabbits, but he fumbled and missed. The truth? He was worried about Meadowstream. She was due to have her kits any day, have you seen her? She was HUGE. Though Fadedstripe thought nothing of it, she was still the beautiful cat he had fallen in love with. And he always will. But was he ready for kits? Probably, but how ready? Then he heard Meadowstream shriek, and he ran so fast to the nursery. "Meadowstream! What wro-" he saw her writhing in pain, and realized that she was kitting. He didn't know what to do, so he just stood there, looking worried.

Meadowstream's eyes lit up as she saw her mate hustling towards her. Please...StarClan let there be a medicine cat around somewhere... she pantedto herself. She tried to struggle to her feet to let Fadedstripe know she was ok. A weak smile played on her lips, and she grunted with effort to stand. But her legs buckled and she clenched her teeth to stop herself form letting out another scream as a pain shot through her.
The contractions were the most painful thing she'd ever expeirianced. She swallowed, and her heart pumped faster. She opened her mouth, willing air to fill her lungs. She felt that something was going wrong. "Im okay baby...medicine cat..." she gasped, trying to reassure her mate.

Coincidentally, the russet-red form of the lanky medicine cat was slipping across the camp, heading in the direction of the nursery. Meadowstream was well along in her pregnancy, and Foxdream felt the need to check in on her several times a day. Perhaps he was annoying her with all this, but he felt it was necessary.
As he neared the nursery, distressed sounds reached his sharp ears, and his deep amber eyes widened in surprise. It had to be Meadowstream....she was kitting! "I'm coming," he mewed calmly, moving swiftly into the den and pushing past Fadedstripe. Foxdream stood over the she-cat and gave her several quick licks on the forehead. "How are you doing, Meadowstream?" he asked gently, taking in the she-cat's pained expression sympathetically. This birth didn't seem to be going as smoothly as hoped, but Meadowstream didn't look too bad...at the moment.
There was no reason to alarm the she-cat until he knew if something was wrong--sudden fear could make her worse. So Foxdream's voice was calm as he mewed, "Are you breathing okay? I know it hurts, but does anything else hurt?" Where was his apprentice? Turning to Fadedstripe, he mewed, "Go find Dawnpaw for me. She has not experienced a kitting before, and I could use her help." There could very well be nothing wrong. This was Meadowstream's first litter, so it was likely that was the cause for her distress.

Fadedstripe nodded, and rushed to the medicine cats den. Once there, he looked around frantically and then saw the apprentice sleeping. He ran over to her and poked her in the stomach. "Meadowstream is kitting!" he said before running back to the nursery. --- Dawnpaw was perfectly content in sleep. While she was asleep, there was no patients to attend to, she could be alone. Of course, she loved her patients, but it could get annoying at times. She was just about to fall deeper into sleep when she was poked, and bam. Awake. Hearing Fadedstripe's words, she got up fast. "What?" but he was already out the entrance. She scrambled to get up and practically flew to the nursery. Something bad might happen! she thought, nervous. She saw Meadowstream on the floor in pain, and sympathy filled her eyes. "Foxdream!" was all she was able to say, she had never experienced a kitting before, and she was at a loss for words.

"It's okay, Dawnpaw," Foxdream mewed gently. "Go fetch me some coltsfoot, will you? It might become a little difficult for her to breathe, so we should have some handy." Padding forward, Foxdream sat down beside the pregnant she-cat and mewed, "Just relax, Meadowstream. Relax and push. We're here for you." There really wasn't much for a medicine cat to do here, as most she-cats did the kitting on their own. Foxdream only needed to be here to make sure things went well and to keep Meadowstream from panicking. That is, unless something went wrong.

The pretty torti cat tried to lay still as Foxdream felt her stomach, as Dawnpaw came. She let out a cry when Fadedstripe left to go and fetch her. "No...he can't...go" she screamed louder then she meant to. Her heart rate lessened as he returned quickly. "Baby...baby dont go..." she breahted, gritting as another contraction ripped through her, making her torso shudder. She tried to swallow. "Coltsfoot...please..." she gasped, trying to force air into her lungs. She squeezed her eyes shut and tried to concentrate on pushing and breathing. But as she pushed, a pain shot through her and she screeched out loud. Somethign was wrong, very wrong. She knew that this wasn't supposed to be this hard.
"He's...he's stuck. Do...something!" her green eyes widened as she gropped around for Fadedstripe. She tried to roll over, knowing she shouldn't. A groan escaped her maw and she tried to push again, but the only result was incredible pain once more. "Fadedstripe don't...let anythign..happen to..me...us..our famil." she pleaded as she shifted around, knowing she'd hear it from Foxdream soon. Her green eyes locked onto Fadedstripe. 'Please..."
ooc: Can something go wrong? She won't have a still born but you know...?[/size]

Dawnpaw nodded and rushed back to the medicine den. She looked around for the herb store, and looked for colftsfoot. Why was Foxdream so calm? She might die! Once Dawnpaw had found what she was looking for, she ran back to the nursery. Panting, she dropped the herbs by Foxdream and tried to take a breather. --- Fadedstripe noticed how his mate was in pain, and he went to lay down next to her. He looked up in anger, "Do something!" he nearly snarled. He licked Meadowstream on the head multiple times and tried to calm her down. He could only listen in horror as he heard that the kit was stuck. He bent down to Meadowstream. "I won't let anything happen to them...'

((I don't really know what to make go wrong, besides her bleeding extra or something. Any ideas besides that?))
"Thank you, Dawnpaw," Foxdream mewed, nodding to his apprentice. He turned to Fadedstripe and mewed, "If you want to help, chew these leaves to a pulp. Then get her to eat them. She's having trouble breathing, but it doesn't look too bad." He didn't mention that she was bleeding a bit more than usual, and tried to keep the worry from his face as he whispered quietly to Dawnpaw, "Be ready, I might need you to fetch some juniper berries of the coltsfoot doesn't work. We'll also need some borage leaves, once she has the kits."
Stepping toward Meadowstream, he mewed gently, "Kits can often get stuck, but sometime they right themselves. If this one doesn't, I'll fix it, but I think you should be fine. Tell me if you experience any greater pain." Now the only thing to do was wait. If the kit didn't turn around, he'd have to do something.
