A young tom rose his head from the new nest that had yet to carry his scent, blinking in the sunlight that streamed through the opening of the apprentice hollow. For a moment he was confused. Where was he? Then, memories of last evening came back to him. Banestar staring down at him, the first apprentice ever since CipherClan had split up and Blitzpaw had left. Oh, but of course there was Rabbitpaw, but he had been found dead on the edges of the territory. So, it was to him that this spacious hollow belonged for now. Hopefully he wouldn't be alone for too long; being the clan's only apprentice left the feeding of the elders and the cleaning out of their den to him alone. Sighing, the young tom uncurled from his nest, knowing now that the sun was too bright and he was too awake to fall into the realm of dreams. Stretching in the glorious warmth, the ginger tabby opened his jaws wide in a yawn, before closing them with a soft click. Shaking off a bit of moss that was stuck to his foot, he looked outside to see very few cats moving about. Typical. Sunpaw thought, placing one paw on the branch below him. In just a minute or so, he landed on the ground with a sigh. Even as an apprentice, his climbing skills were better than the rest of the clans, save for perhaps CelestialClan. But, they didn't matter now anyway; who wanted the soft-hearted clan with them? All cats that had were dead now, killed, perhaps, by their own rebellious warriors.. Who knew? All that Sunpaw was aware of was that their leader was found, dead of a bite and his so-called lover dead in the medicine cat's den. Their brief reign was nothing more than a memory for Sunpaw, who'd only been a kit at the time. As the young tom sat down and gazed around sleepily, a soft cream and brown bundle rammed into his flank. Startled, Sunpaw looked down into the blue eyes of Viperkit. The younger tom, having gotten along with his former den mate only days ago, sat beside him like a mirror image. Had it not been for Sunpaw's ginger fur and bulkier build, they looked comically alike, with their tails curled over their paws and their eyes watching the slowly waking clan. "So whatcha waiting for? A she-cat?" Came Viperkit's teasing tone. Though it was apparently a joke, Viperkit knew he wouldn't mind a she-cat himself, even if he was just a kit. Hey, maybe even two! Who knew, when you were a cat like him? Sunpaw chuckled, flicking one ear. "No, just...waiting." He replied with a sigh. Viperkit gave him a quizzical look, yet the tabby apprentice didn't respond.

A small, slender tabby she-cat crept from the apprentice's den and into the morning sunlight. A shadowy fox was standing in the den entrance, waiting for her, but she walked right through its snarling face to stand in the warm sun. Sometimes the hallucinations were easier to ignore than others.
Pale, gray-green eyes surveyed the camp and came to rest on the two small cats sitting a few tail-lengths away. It was Sunpaw and Viperkit, two cats Twitchpaw had never really talked to. Her head jerked spastically to one side as she thought about going up to them, but she couldn't let her stupid twitch or nervousness hold her back. She took a breath and trotted over to greet them (passing straight through a shadowy sleeping badger as she went), every piece of her concentration devoted to keeping herself from twitching again. Were these two cats the kind who would make fun of her? If they did, she'd tear their ears off, and with that thought in mind, she sat down before them and mewed, "Hi. I'm Twitchpaw."

Sunpaw turned at the sound of a voice, feminine and soft. It wasn't one he had heard before, yet he knew it. Perhaps he had known her as a kit. Sometimes the kits had grown apart to the point they hardly talked by their sixth moon. Unfortunately, this seemed to have been the case. He knew the tabby cat with the gray-green eyes, yet he couldn't recall more than a fuzzy memory. Shaking his head, he raised one eyebrow at her name. Twitchpaw? Rather unusual. Then, digging back into his memory bank, he began to remember a she-kit, not much older than him, who had a strange movement that made other kits wary of her. This wariness, plus the longing of being brave, had let to teasing. Oh, how he hoped he hadn't joined in! "I'm Sunpaw." He said politely, inclining his head slightly. Viperkit looked up at the greeting, his confused gaze suddenly sparkling. Standing up, the kit stuck his tail in the air and swaggered forward. This she-cat really was beautiful, and he did love the older women. "Hello lovely Twitchpaw. I'm Viperkit!" He meowed, trying to sound much more macho than his tiny, fuzzy form appeared to be.

(hehehe ^.^))
Gray-green eyes appraised the ginger apprentice, and she tried to rack her mind for the last time she had spoken to him. Not in a long time, she knew. We all probably should have kept talking to each other. It'd make things a lot easier now that we're older, she thought, tilting her head to one side as she looked at the two Clanmates who were practically strangers. She was opening her mouth to reply to Sunpaw's words (very surprised by the polite tone of voice), when Viperkit came forward, and Twitchpaw's eyes widened in a mixture of amusement and confusion. Who was this little kit, talking to her like this? It was like he was asking to be her mate!
"Er...hi, Viperkit..." she mewed uncertainly, glancing over at Sunpaw questioningly. "And hi, Sunpaw. So you're an apprentice, too?" She herself didn't have a mentor yet...maybe Sunpaw did.

Sunpaw shook his head with some despair at the kit's advances and rolled his eyes at his fellow apprentice. Ducking his head, he sighed. Oh, what was the tom getting himself into? Looking back up, he felt his fur trickle with alarm and mortification as he saw the long-haired cream and brown tom rubbing up against one of Twitchpaw's legs. Reaching out immediately with one paw, he pulled a protesting Viperkit away from Twitchpaw. Glaring at the kit for a moment, he turned back and cleared his throat. "Um..Yes. Yes, I am. As of last night in fact. I'm new." He meowed, blabbing. Closing his mouth he flattened his ears slightly. Way to look like an idiot in front of the elder apprentice. He thought. Viperkit was just enjoying the enticing scent that Twitchpaw carried when, suddenly, a large ginger paw pulled him away from the lady. Squeaks of protest were made, then fell silent as a pair of orange eyes glared at him. As Sunpaw looked away the kit sighed, then caught Twitchpaw's eye. Winking, he chuckled lightly.

This fuzzy little furrball was rubbing up against her! Twitchpaw sprang backwards, fur fluffed up as she stared at the little kit. Her stare turned into a glare when the impertinent little mouesbrain winked! Twitchpaw gave Sunpaw an uneasy look and took a few pawsteps backwards. She was going to just turn around and go back to the den, but...she didn't want to be rude, and she wanted friends, not enemies. Still, her very short patience was getting shorter, and if Viperkit made one more move, she'd rip his ears off as much as if he had made fun of her twitching. Speaking of which, her little bit of annoyance forced her head to jerk spastically twice, one right after the other, and when the second one was through, she glanced over at the two cats sharply, every bit of her senses alert for any sign of a laugh, or a giggle, or any word spoken against her twitching. Just you try it. Just you try it.

Sunpaw shut his eyes tight as she leaped backward. Oh, why was the little twerp even here? Yes, they got along. Yes, you could even say friends. But Sunpaw was moons older than the kit now, and Twitchpaw was a moon older than him! Viperkit had no right to do this! Opening his eyes a slit, they shot farther open as her head suddenly twitched. Then again. Blinking, Sunpaw didn't know what to say as the realization of the name dawned on him. Ooohhh yeah. That's why. He thought. Beside him, he heard a small giggle. Glaring at the kit beside him, he suddenly stood. Without a word to Twitchpaw, he swiped the kit up in his jaws, ignoring the annoyed hisses and squeaks from Viperkit. Sunpaw disappeared into the lowest den and unceremoniously dropped the young long-hair beside his mother. Glaring at the tom, he whipped around, ignoring the taunts of the younger tom. With a sigh he stepped back into the sunlight, his tail lashing in anger. Shooting Twitchpaw an ashamed glance, he shuffled his paws. "Eh, sorry 'bout that." He meowed, mouth twisting into a half smile. Desperate to change the subject, he added, "Want to get something to eat?"

Well, Sunpaw stared, but who could blame him? Twitchpaw didn't dislike him for that. But that Viperkit! The little furball! She hissed sharply at the kitten's laugh, her claws shooting out as a growl rose up in her throat. It was cut off abruptly as Sunpaw removed the kit from her sight and put him back in the nursery. Good thing, too. The kit just barely scraped by with both his ears unharmed. Her eyes blazed angrily for a few more seconds, but at Sunpaw's apologetic tone and suggestion, her fur flattened and she allowed her mind to clear. Her head twitched once more, but was pretty sure this was not an apprentice who would taunt her, so she didn't worry about it. "Sure," she mewed, glancing toward the small freshkill pile as her stomach grumbled hungrily. "Pretty soon, we'll be the ones bringing the prey in," she added, eyes lighting with excitement as she padded over and took a large mole from the pile. "Not too excited about cleaning the elder's den, though."

For a moment there, with her bristled fur and claws extended, Sunpaw was afraid the she-cat was going to go charging off after Viperkit and tear him to pieces. Not that the little one didn't deserve it, mind you. Yet he was just a kit, not exactly the brightest one right now either. He couldn't completely be blamed for what he did. Then, as her fur flattened, Sunpaw allowed himself to relax and smile. Well, seemed like Viperkit was in the clear for now. Sunpaw would have to talk to the rude bugger later though, hoping he would listen. In fact, he couldn't see why cats made fun. Yes, it was noticeable, but not bad. However, when she twitched, he politely averted his eyes. He certainly didn't wish to have his ears clawed off. Following the tabby she-cat, he selected a vole from the pile and continued to follow her, tail raised high. At her words, he nodded, eyes blazing. "Oh yes," He meowed after placing the vole down. "We'll be the best hunters! I have to agree though; cleaning out dirty moss doesn't seem enjoyable."

The small tabby she-cat set her mole down by a large stone and settled onto her stomach. She took a small bite from the freshkill and chewed, closing her eyes in delight at the wonderful taste. Soon, she'd be hunting these moles. She'd be the one to provide the Clan with food! Her tail waved excitedly as she thought about this, and she looked over at Sunpaw in excitement. "The cleaning is worth it, I bet," she decided, not wanting to think about the bad parts of apprenticeship. "When do you think we'll get our mentors? Who do you want to be yours?" Now that she had someone to talk to, she couldn't seem to stop.

Ooc: Mind if I pop in? ;D
S K E L E T O N P A W [/b] The sleek calico she cat yawned as she pushed her way out of the apprentices den. The bright early sunlight struck her eyes and she ducked her head away from the blinding light. Ugh stupid sun. She muttered padding forward towards a patch of relief from the sun. Sitting down she turned and drew her tongue over her back once smoothing her fur down and getting the moss out of her tabby pelt. Across the clearing sat two other apprentices and a kit. Sighing the calico tabby got to her paws and trotted over her brilliant green eyes flashing. "Morning. I'm Skeletonpaw."[/b] She took a seat not far from Twitchpaw her tail drawing over her small paws.Green eyes stared intently at each cat in turn burning into their fur as she hungered to know more about each. Her left ear twitched lightly flicking off a fly that had decided to settle down on her soft fur. The whisper of bugs fluttering about drew her attention away towards the other side of the clearing. A beetle scurried past the she cat's paw and she batted at it lightly knocking it over onto it's back. It's little legs flailed in different directions and she yawned getting bored of the tiny creature. Flipping it back over she watched as it scuttled away it's legs pumping to carry it across the ground. OOC: Not at all! Bic: As Twitchpaw had been talking, the golden tabby had neatly tucked into this morning's prey. He could share his den mate's excitement; he too wished to know the secrets and thrills of the hunting warriors. Oh, how many stories he had been told about the many fabulous catches that had been made over the years. Like, how Silverpaw had caught that crow, and Longclaw had caught the pheasant. So many stories had been told, and all it did was give the kits a hunger for the hunt. Of course, that was only half of the story. There was battle too, and this is where Sunpaw's excitement laid. The adrenaline as you ran down the slope. That first breath-taking clash between an opponent and yourself. Sunpaw grinned, his vole still stretched out in front of him. At the question of mentors, he quietly shook his head. "I really don't know, to tell the truth." He confessed. At the sound of yet another voice, the ginger tom looked up to see a thin calico with blazing green eyes and a smile. Smiling himself, his tail twitched and he meowed, "Hello Skeletonpaw. I'm Sunpaw, and this is Twitchpaw."

((*twitches* welcome to the thread!)) Finishing her meal in a few bites, Twitchpaw rolled over onto her back and stretched, yawning widely as her muscles tightened, then quivered as they relaxed. What a beautiful day! It was the perfect day to...perhaps...get a mentor?
A new voice broke the silence, and Twitchpaw rolled back onto her side and sprang to her paws. "Hi," she mewed, tilting her head to one side as she regarded the newcomer. Skeletonpaw's eyes were a bit unnerving, and after looking into them for only a few seconds, nervousness made the light brown tabby's head jerk to one side again...but only once, at least. At that action, her friendly, amiable gaze shifted immediately to a warning, guarded expression, and her eyes sharpened as she narrowed her eyes to take in the other she-cat. Just you try it, she thought, as she thought every time this happened. As if that were not enough, out of the corner of her eye she could see a hawk swooping down, claws extended for her. She jerked her head to face it, only to see it vanish in a swirling of shadows. It was just a hallucination...again. Twitchpaw's long tail lashed in annoyance as her gray-green eyes returned to the other two apprentices, wondering if they had noticed this second spastic action. No cat knew of the shadowy figures she frequently saw...and she would like to keep it that way.

Little Mystpaw decided to make some friends today. Why? He didn't know. He was lonely, and bored after training. He looked around for Skeletonpaw, one of his friends. He spotted her pelt, and raced toward her. He pounced her and flashed a mischievous grin. "Hey, Skele. What's up?" He rarely spoke like that, and rarely gave cats a nickname... but he liked this apprentice.
He didn't want to get up this morning, in fear his scar would cause him more pain. He didn't tell Skele about this, but he figured he should. He looked over at the two other cats, and smiled. "What's up?" He noticed the apprentice's twitch, but thought nothing of it.

S K E L E T O N P A W [/b] The golden tabby tom looked up and smiled as I spoke. Well he seemed nice enough I nodded shallowly at the tom and my gaze drifted towards the female. Her gaze had changed to that of a guarded expression and I shrugged. Hey it wasn't my fault if the she cat took what I said or did to be offensive. Skeletonpaw's gaze drifted down towards the fresh kill on the ground and she swallowed. Not that she was hungry or anything. Looking back up at the she cat Skeletonpaw tilted her head to one side as in a what the heck manner. Twitchpaw's head jerked to one side and Skeletonpaw let out a soft breath relaxing some. "Man I feel like getting up and doing something! You guys have mentors yet?"[/b] Twitchpaw went through another sort of short spasm and Skeletonpaw decided to ignore the sudden movement. Her green eyes blinked for a moment resting on Sunpaw. Her head was still tilted to one side and she flicked her tail. Suddenly a a whisper of paws sounded behind the calico tabby and a sudden weight sent her sprawling. A familiar voice greeted her and Skeletonpaw flipped up her green eyes glowing happily. "Myst!"[/b] She jumped forward batting at the toms ears. A P P R E N T I C E / T E M P E S T [/b] ____________________________________________________________________________ [/size]
