Mystpaw stumbled along clumsily, not watching his feet. He was trying to keep his scar from killing him. (Not literally, of course.) He decided that this was the wrong way to go at it, and he started to walk more gracefully. He padded through the camp, wondering if somebody would play with him. He peeked his head into the apprentice's den. 'Darn!' He thought, disappointed.
The grey tom cat looked into the nursery. "Anybody wanna play?" He asked shyly, and was irritated when an unseen voice answered him, "The kits in here are too small, Mystpaw. Hey! Don't do that Firekit!" He left before he could hear anymore. 'I'm so boreddddd!' He complained mentally.
Finally, he decided that he wanted to train. Walking along happily, he poked his small head into the warrior's den. "Uhm.. Sombersnow? May we train?" He asked awkwardly, licking his chest nervously. He backed up, and waited for his mentor to answer.

It was easy to know who anyone meant, when they decribed a large black and white she-cat, with long fur, and what looked like a sort of moustache upon her upper maw. Also if you added short-tempered, there was definetly not another cat like her. There she sat in the warriors den, sharing tongues with Corruptedlie who was all worried over being a father, she knew the usual fears of a parent. She wasn't the one to come to for advice though, she had killed her own daughter, but it was for the she-cats own good, and Corruptedlie did not know anything about that. She heard a familiar meow that made her pelt bristle. She resented this day, when they would have to have their first training session, why oh why, didn't they know she was practically alergic to the youngsters there days? Still, even she knew she was practically one of the most talented cats in the clan, wise and strong she was. No apprentice would finish training with her, and end up anything like the air heads these days, oh no, she wouldn't let them. "Of course we may." She meowed while standing up, she gave Corruptedlie a look before leaving the warriors den. "But in the future, call before you enter the warriors den, we at least deserve that much respect don't you think, especially at your age." She meowed. She had a lot of work.

Mystpaw's ears flattened in embarrassment as his mentor scolded him. From a distance, you'd think he only had small bumps for ears, but up close, you could see the lining. "I'm sorry, sombersnow..." He mewed, for a shy cat, it was pretty loud. He perked up quickly though, and his paws tingled with excitement, his first day of training with a new mentor.
"What are we gonna do today?" Mystpaw asked, curious. He was pretty good at fighting, but his hunting skills needed some work. His mother thought he was very good, but that was his mother. 'And moms always tell you good things.' He thought, annoyed. Why did every mom sugarcoat things? You could be killing her, and she'd say "Good job!" He rolled his eyes.
He padded along side his mentor, keeping in step. He looked up at her, and he had to admit, he was nervous of her. Mystpaw didn't know whether to respect her... or to be afraid of her..

Sombersnow padded out of camp and strided easily through the terra. It was quiet between the two cats. She was still unimpressed with Banestar for giving her an apprentice, but the leader probably thought that her clan needed to be stronger, so she was giving the apprentices to the senior warriors. Oh how humble she was. Humble my butt. "I haven't decided yet." She meowed and padded on. They reached the training grouds and she turned to look at her apprentice. "Stand up a bit straighter than that, it's not like we are dogs." She reminded the small tom. "So I have a few rules I want you to know about, manners, that's what I like to see, use them if you want to keep on my good side, basically try as hard as you can and if you don't understand something tell me, I won't be impressed if you don't work hard for me, respect me and if you prove yourself to me, I will respect you too." She meowed. She went over this quite quickly, but not too quickly. "If you have any questions just ask, but don't interrupt." She added. "Firstly, go and catch me something." She meowed. Really she was getting ready to follow him.

The grey apprentice nodded at everything she said. I'll prove to her I'm a good apprentice. He thought stubbornly. When she told him to go catch her something, he nodded and sprang off.
He parted his jaws, and then tasted the air. It smelt like.... Birds! He got into his best hunting crouch, and stalked the bird closest. It was on the ground picking at seeds. When he sprang, it flew away, but to get it he jumped and killed it with his claws. His landing was pretty sloppy, over all it was an 'okay' attempt.
He brought it back to Sombersnow, and dropped it in front of her. He smiled mentally, but kept it to himself physically.

Sombersnow made sure she saw the tom's first attempt at a catch. He did not know how to hunt yet, so it turned out alright for a first try, but she would try and make it a little easier for him by seeing how he did it first. "I am sure Silkenvine will be happy with that in her belly, or her kits." Sombersnow commented. "Ok so I see you have a good crouch, but make sure your limbs are pulled almost right in, that way you have better control over them, and I know you are eager, but you must be patient, don't wait too long, otherwise your victim will see you, but don't do it straight away, otherwise your judgement might be off, you need to find the 'right moment' by yourself, I can't teach you that, you have to go by instinct, and learn from your mistakes." She meowed. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. Was she a natural at teaching? Her bad mood seemed to have disappeared. It was just proof she could be nice, when she got respected. Plus poor Mystpaw seemed a little shy. She would change that, she would not let him fail like her daughter had. "Ok try again." She meowed.

The grey apprentice smiled, and nodded. He bounded away once more, trying to get it right. He opened his jaws, and waited for the scent. Mouse! He thought, slipping into a hunter’s crouch. He waited, camouflaged into the setting, for the mouse to pass by. When it did, he pounced, better this time, and killed it with a bite to the neck.
He brought it back, happy that he got it right. He dropped it on the floor, and sat there, waiting. While he was waiting… he was reminded of his past.
“Toadkit! Toadkit! Wake up!” Mewed a blue furred kit. Mystkit came up behind him, eyes stretched wide. “Toadkit! This isn’t funny! Open your eyes!” He yelled at her, tears streaming from him eyes. A ginger she-cat came up from behind them. “Your sister… is dead.”
Mystpaw looked around, frantic, and sighed in relief as he realized it wasn’t happening again. Now cold fury burned at his paws because the medicine cat couldn’t save his sister. He looked at his mentor, his good mood had spoiled.

"You wont always pick things up this easily though, fighting takes a lot of time, patience, and practice, I don't know when I will show you how to fight, but I suppose I should show you the basics tomorrow, you will need to be able to defend yourself after all."
[/b] She meowed. "Of course you wont always get it first time, so practice makes perfect, that means more hunting, and I want you to see if you can correct yourself where you go wrong and learn from your mistakes." She meowed. With that the large she-cat turned and padded away to get some prey of her own. The she-cat caught sight of a spider resting in its web, with an unfriendly hiss she took her claws, and pierced its belly, it wouldn't go very far, but it would be a nice snack for any cat who felt they wanted one. That would be her, checking around her, she tossed the creature into her mouth and swallowed it, before moving on. How the pretty little songbirds liked to sing up in their trees. Not for long though. Tensing her muscles she took a run at the tree, easily climbing it. It was quite dark among the leaves, so the birds had not quite yet seen her. They were, however, slightly alarmed by the noise. She became more excited though when she saw their was a nest. Taking a precise run along the branch, she managed to get one of the birds, meanwhile the other was flapping its wings at her and trying to get her away from the nest. With a snarl she smacked it with her paw and sent it flying, somewhere it wouldn't bother her she hoped. Killing the other bird, she popped it in the nest and sniffed at the eggs. Grabbing the nest she decided to make her way down the tree by using the lower branches.[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]

"I'll practice everyday!" The little apprentice mewed happily, his tail curling up. His good mood came back easily, and he watched as his mentor started hunting. He watched in awe at how she had found the bird nest, and how she caught them. He was a bit afraid for her though, he didn't want her to fall. A bit of fear coursed through him, but he knew she'd make it... right?
Instead of watching her descend, he kept his eyes on a passing ant, it was carrying a dead one on its back. Mystpaw thought he was carrying a dead friend back home, unaware that the ants would eat the body. He heard a piece of wood break, and his head snapped up, terrified that Sombersnow might have started falling.
((OOC: Hehe.. ants xD))

With a sharp crack, the sound of a branch splitting she was on the ground again. Of course she hadn't fallen! A warrior such as herself would never allow herself to fall and embarrass herself like that. It seemed the eggs were in season at this time of year. Just what she needed to cheer her up. Her eyes widened when she saw Mystpaw flinch. "Honestly you don't think I would fall do you?" She meowed after laying the nest on the ground, she sniffed at the dead bird and the eggs and with a nod of approval she poised herself to pick them up again. "I will teach you how to climb trees after, but since you will be used to climbing up to the apprentices den in camp, it shouldn't be too hard. Right now keep your paws on the ground and you wont get hurt, lets go, and see if you can find that bird I stunned, if you do make sure its dead and bring it with the other prey you caught." The she-cat meowed and fastened her maw around the pile of twigs and moss. Standing up again she padded of, heading towards camp.
ooc;; want to continue this?

Mystpaw smiled when he saw his mentor climb down the tree, fine. He stiffened though, when she asked him if he thought she'd fall. He looked away and shrugged, embarrassed. He nodded at her, and padded away to find the bird. He sniffed at the air, and started running to the scent of it. The grey apprentice noted that the bird was dead, picked it up, and started walking back.
((OOC: Sure, but in a new thread. :3))
