The branch was thick and comfortable, protruding from a tree surrounding CelestialClan camp and providing the perfect area for cat-watching. A large form clawed its way up the tree and to this branch, well-trained muscles moving as easily as a squirrel. The heavily-furred tomcat slipped onto the branch and padded a few mouselengths out before relaxing onto his stomach and tucking his fuzzy tan paws beneath his chest.
A short, fluffy tail hung down from the branch, flicking lightly from side-to-side as bright, piercing yellow eyes gazed out from a mask of gray fur...the "mask" that gave him his name. Dawn had barely broken over the forest, casting the camp in a splash of rosy hue but leaving the warrior cloaked in darkness, so that he could watch uninterrupted the to-ings and fro-ings of his Clan. Truly, in blood, he belonged to TempestClan--he had discovered this shortly after becoming a warrior. But in his heart, this was not so; he was as loyal to CelestialClan as the loyalest of wolves, and nothing would sway him to leave. And so his sharp eyes gazed upon the waking Clan with love and contentment. For a warrior who would soon retire, nothing was more satisfying than watching his Clan simply "be".

One delicate paw in front of another, Breezecloud emarged from the warrior's den and yawned. Her mouth forming a perfect "o". She looked around the clearing and then she started walking, cheerfully, to the fresh kill pile. She was planning on re-filling it, but she was pretty hungry now. She didn't know what to get, so she chose a small mouse. She gave thanks to StarClan for the meal, and chewed it slowly, savoring the delicious taste.
When she was done, she noticed a fuzzy tom look around. She thought he must hate that fur, and giggled. He looks like a ball of fuzz! She thought, smiling. She didn't know this warrior's name, or elder. He looked old enough, but she was sure he wasn't. Or he'd be asleep. She giggled and then padded over to him, sat down in front of him, and stared. Finally, after a few moments of silence... "Hi! How are you today?"

From his vantage point on his branch, the tan warrior gazed down at the young, white and black warrior. "Greetings, youngster," he mewed, rising slowly to his forepaws and stretching his creaky muscles. I really am getting too old for this. Perhaps I should... he stopped himself in his thoughts, shaking his head. No, I am not ready to retire. I still have some usefulness left in me. With that, he sprang down from the branch, landing lightly but a little flat-footedly before the she-cat. All cats were youngsters to him, and he'd stopped worrying if a young cat became offended by him saying so. "I am enjoying this lovely day, in fact," he added pleasantly. "How are you?"

Breezecloud smiled at the older warrior, she didn't care about what he called her. She nicknamed cats and they hated it, so, even steven. She giggled at the rhyme she made in her head, and realized that the tom probably thought she was weird. No worrys, doesn't matter... hehe. She put her best grin on, and nodded at him. "That's great! I'm glad. Also, I'm doing well, too. Thank you!" Her tone was light, and she started to stretch.
