Green lights flashed open. The sound of quiet breathing enveloped him. The tom smiled to himself as he shook his head clear of the nights dreams. Nothing truly worth talking about. A rabbit here, a rogue there, nothing of grave importance. He was out late hunting yesterday so he deserved a good sleeping in, seeing as he brought three pieces of prey back with him, but he just couldn't. Cedarclaw didn't want to sleep in, no, no there was much to do in the camp. He sighed and brought himself to all four paws. He swept his rough tongue over his mussed up ginger pelt and let his paws carry himself to the entrance of the warriors den. The sun was just coming up and oh how lovely it looked. He was one for the looks of nature, yes, he loved nature. The tom sighed and swept his neatly groomed forepaw over his ears, trying to get the long hair to stay down. The colors were intense and he looked to the brightening trees and how the green stood out right at this time. If only there were others to see this. He felt like this was something worth seeing. He could only take pictures of it in his mind. No words could describe it no matter how many or how little. Beautiful, yes, that could capture it all, but it was a different kind of beauty. Enough of that, though. The day had begun. He had his moment of peace and he was off on his paws once more, searching for something to do.

Bi-colored eyes scanned the horizon, scouting for any sign of animal life. It was a fresh, new morning, and few were out and about, but the deputy wanted to see who really was deserving of their rank as warrior. She desired to know just who was really ready for an attack at any time of the day, just who was fit , and just who was deserving of her respect. Was it no one? Then she caught sight of Cedarclaw walking along. Camp was so dull at this time of day. even with Cedarclaw awake. That was only one of the many warriors.
Well, you couldn't really say many. TempestClan was currently the smallest of the four, and thus would need only the best warriors around. Especially if there was war. even though nothing had been said about war yet, Crossedsoul was already plotting away in that sinister mind of hers. They had to prove that they were of pure blood and that they were true warriors, despite their lack in the latter. And where were all the apprentices? Dear StarClan, what was wrong with this clan? No. Stop it. No conspiracy against your own clan, Crossedsoul.
And the deputy bounded over to Cedarclaw's side. Eyes always burning with the same, fierce power as they always had. No one would deny her of the right to look intimidating. even though she really did not care how scary she looked, in TempestClan, she must look normal enough. "Cedarclaw, want to go on a hunting patrol? I heard that there are some creatures that prefer dawn to dusk." If he denied her request, then she would just go by herself and ask him to tell the others where she had went. She never minded a good solitary hunt.

Wide awake she stared out of the den. A statuette with piercing yellow eyes. Electricity sparked in them as gray bodice continued to stay as was. There was no need for movement at this time in the morning. Let the sun fill the day as it wanted. It was powerful, blistering and unforgiving as it began to position itself dominantly in the sky much like the she-cat herself had done. Let them squint at the brightness the sun portrayed just as they did with the intensity the she-cat brought to the table. Sleek gray bodice made the slightest movement. A lick over her chops to greet the day. Hunger awakened in her stomach as her deputy awakened from her slumber. Ah Crossedsoul, out to get Cedarclaw? Two lesser beings then herself...but of equal meaning. They were her clan were they not? Of course they were. Crossedsoul had proven herself worthy of the position she was now in. Deputy. A young thing but that was what made her easy to get the way she was.
They're all yours Banestar. All puppets under your command. A small smirk formed upon the leader's gray face as her eyes darted to the company of two. To make it a crowd or not to? Unlike a gargoyle creature of the night she moved with the slight filter of sun through the trees. Scaling down the tree her lithe bodice moved quickly towards the two. Slithering like a snake, piercing yellow eyes locked on the target. "I'll take you up on that." She had came in at the right time. Heard her deputy's invitation to Cedarclaw and had invited herself. Oh such joy. "Oh such a young one you are. Creatures slink about whenever they prefer dear one. You should know as we ourselves are creatures." Her voice accompanied the haunting eeriness of her orbs still sparking. Now now Banestar nice to the young one, she is the next leader after all. The voice in her head told the truth, let the truth be heard to those who should hear it.

Ah, other signs of life in this camp? Wonderful. The ginger tom nodded his head respectfully to his deputy, Crossedsoul. "Hunting patrol?" he asked quietly, smiling to Crosselsoul. "Why, yes, I'd love to," he purred, getting slowly to his paws. Ah, and then came Banestar, her yellow eyes piercing as always. "Oh, hello Banestar. Tagging along as well? Wonderful," came Cedarclaw's quiet voice, forest green eyes shining happily.
The tom sighed and looked around. "Just the three of us then?" The camp was quiet. They were the smallest clan by not much and he liked the peacefulness of the early morning. Hopefully he would have the correct skills to hunt with both the leader and the deputy. How lucky was he, to become better acquainted with the two most high-ranked cats in the clan?

And just as Crossedsoul had seized her moment as the highest ranking cat in the hunting patrol, her leader, Banestar arrived. She had nothing against Banestar, but control felt so. . . luxurious. Still, she was only in the middle of the food chain in this situation, not at the bottom, the very point where Cedarclaw was placed. A dip of her head was offered to her leader. Respect must be given at all times. Especially in TempestClan, where only the fiercest cat's lived, who followed the warrior code, but only to the extent needed. Yet hey were not as lawless and brutal as Delirium. But Crossedsoul planned to change all that. She wanted her clan to be feared, not just regarded with the dregs of the respect that the others had to dish out.
Then the remark her leader made bit, and it bit hard. She would not stand for being corrected. But this was her leader, and she could not just retort. Self control was a wonderful thing, and she used it to restrain herself for the time being. Then she hid her discomfort, or at least attempted to make it less obvious. Young? Sure, but some of the leaders were young too. Naive? Maybe, but Banestar had just gone too far. Don't think about it. She reminded herself. This was not easy.
For now she would just wait for Banestar to dismiss them, because she did not feel she had the right to when there was someone in higher status than herself. She had to always be on her toes, ready to accept orders, even when she had no plans to. Crossedsoul still had quite a ways to go before she would become leader, and until then, she was not the top and would still recieve orders. It would just be the three oging, and hopefully nto for long, because they were taking away the two of the most important ranks. And they didn't have a medicine cat yet. So who would be there to guard camp? Worry later.

Cedarclaw had always been faithful. He was an asset in Banestar's eyes. But was Crossedsoul? Of course she was. A Deputy was after all needed for a clan to thrive but really was Crossedsoul as great as Banestar had first though? It was almost terrible that her mind flip flopped back and forth this much. Silly she-cat. Of course your mind does. Bad and worse shift in your head constantly my dearest. The voice rang clearly and Banestar's eyes danced wildly with excitement. Cedarclaw's words sent a shiver down her spine. But then again what tom's voice didn't? Smirking lightly the gray leader glanced over at her deputy whom had yet to speak. What was it that she held in? Anger? More than likely. She knew the feelings well. The taunting used to get to her, still did. But a short fused Leader was not to be messed with. Especially a Tempestclan one. Her gaze was tugged away from Cedarclaw and placed on Crossedsoul.
"Quiet are we? Cat got your tongue little one?" Her voice was harsh, playful and twisted in a sickening manner. Her eyes flickered lightly as she stalked off towards the territory they had. Her tail beckoned for Cedarclaw to follow, Crossedsoul would know she was welcome though it wouldn't seem like it. Why treat another with love and caring feelings when they didn't have any reason to deserve it? Exactly my dearest Banestar, exactly.

Frostfang peeked open her eyes in the glistening sun. As she stood up and stretched far enough so her belly scraped the cold surface of the ground, she overheard a hunting patrol being organized in the camp. After another gaping yawn, she decided to ask to join them. Last night she hadn't eaten anything, and her stomach demanded something to eat. Quietly, trying not to disturb the other denmates, she stalked out into the camp clearing.
Frostfang bounded over to Crossedsoul. She noticed the patrol had already started to leave. Hurry up, Frostfang thought to herself. She did not want to miss them. Hold on Crossedsoul! Do you mind if I joined you! Hopefully it wasn't too late. Trying to meet her gaze, Frostfang waited for a reply.
{is that long enough? Lol}

Insulted again. By the leader, nonetheless. This time, there was no holding back a spiteful retorted that was manifest in every aspect. It was to happen, and nothing would stop it, not even time and space. What was Crossedsoul getting herself into? It did not matter; She would gain respect from the leader any way she knew how. "Its called respect, my dearest Banestar. You wouldn't know, of course." Her tongue was obviously barbed, aiming to stab into her dark gray leader. The tone of the retort was singsong and sweet, almost a taunt. It was the essence of spite and hatred that was sprinkled so delicately over the words.
And then an annoying voice sounded int he back of her ear. Obnoxious little. . . And it was another warrior who wanted to joint he hunt. Why not? Well, Crossedosul was already in a bad mood, and the white she-cat needed someone to take all this anger out on. Cedarclaw was too loyal, but this one was just right. The perfect target. Piercing, bi-colored eyes stared into those of Frostfang's. "Oh, of course. We will let the laziest warriors join a hunt with the deputy and leader." Sarcasm clear, the end almost forming itself into a snarl.
A fight was already about to break out between the two highest ranks, and now some other warrior just comes along and asks to joint hem? I don't think so. Deputy on her edge, Banestar just being herself. Boy, this was going to be quite the hunt. And even if this one did manage to tag along, with the leader's permission, of course, maybe this could actually get under way. Crossedsoul was eager to hunt already. Cedarclaw, Crossedsoul, Banestar, Frostfang. A big hunting patrol too. With many clashing personalities to accompany the large group.

Cedarclaw just shot anxious looks from Banestar to Crossedsoul. He smiled, hoping they would calm down. He sighed and followed Banestar to the entrance of the camp. Hopefully the tension would be gone once they had a nice run in the forest. It was a nice warm day already and he hoped they would catch plentiful amounts of prey.
Its called respect, my dearest Banestar. You wouldn't know, of course.
Frowning, Cedarclaw shot an astounded look toward Crossedsoul. "Now, now, now, ladies we mustn't say these.." He was cut off by the sound of..oh who was it? Frostfang. Right. He chuckled as she invited herself in on the hunting partol. Cedarclaw would have nodded but he looked to the leader and the deputy. If they agreed, this would be quite the large hunting patrol.
Oh, of course. We will let the laziest warriors join a hunt with the deputy and leader.
Well that just nearly made him topple over. Surely Banestar wouldn't let that little quip go unnoticed. Surely she wouldn't. And he wasn't the leader or the deputy, so what was he? Was he a lazy warrior? The tom took in a sharp inhalation of breath before looking at Banestar. He was quite confused and a little insulted. Did Crossedsoul leave him out for a good reason? He cleared his throat and looked at the ground, his paws kneading the ground as a sign of nervousness and just the fact that he wanted to get out of camp. Quickly.

Frostfang gazed into Crossedsoul's haunting eyes as she thought about her sarcastic remark: "Sure, we'll let the laziest warriors join the hunt with the deputy and the leader" Fristfang could slightly pick up the faintest sign of sarcasm. She smirked. Was there seriousness in Crossedsouls voice as well? Frostfang couldn't help thinking that the deputy was calling her lazy. How was Frostfang lazy? She always was ambitious to be as loyal as she could to the clan. She turned her head towards Cedarclaw, and could pick up uneasiness in his look towards the leader as he kneaded the ground nervously. Did he feel insulted as well? Frostfang felt insulted herself, but a little more confused. Whatever the reason was for Crossedsouls remarks, Frostfang would be unsure until she knew what she ment. There isn't anything Frostang could do now, so she let the strange sarcasm slide past like a snake shrough the cracks of a rock.
Frostfang moved behind Cedarclaw that was following Banestar to the entrance. The four of us...she thought. How would the conversations turn out to be during the hunt? Was the subject going to change, or maybe there was going to be an akward silence due to the persistant hunting that cannot go to waste? Frostfang would have to wait and see.

Banestar snarled quite noticably as Frostfang appeared behind her and Cedarclaw. Then of course Crossedsoul made a reference. Respect? She wanted to talk about respect. The leader's eyes sizzled as she stared ahead. She would ignore the comment from now. She had plenty of time to take her anger out on the disrespectful deputy. Hearing Cedarclaw's words she tilted her head swiftly just in time to catch Crossedsoul's next phrase. "Crossedsoul perhaps Cedarclaw should be in your place as deputy instead. You seem to classify as a lazy warrior rather than that of a deputy. " She halted in her tracks, her head turning to look at the deputy, eyes blistering with anger. "And who are you to tell me what I know. Respect is something definied by each individual differently. I'm sure that your bitch of a mother taught you that definition did she not? For one who's such an imbecile as you would surely not know what respect truly is. " The leader smirked lightly flicked her tail and started on her paws again. She was nothing but ruthless with a tone that was high and proud reigning over that of the dear deputy's.
"Oh Crossedsoul. You're welcome to stay at camp if you wish. I'm sure Cedarclaw wouldn't mind trying on deputy." Her voice was daunting and sickenly sweet. If one could see her expressino they'd know that she was not to be dealt with. But then again when was she? Banestar was ruthless and wasn't afraid to tear another's ears off just for a slipped word. Her gray bodice picked up the pace, taking her far from camp and into the patch of birch trees.

Cedarclaw halted in his tracks. Maybe it would be better if only he and Banestar went hunting. Three she-cat's and one tom? And the reaction to Frostfang's arrival didn't seem to friendly or optimistic. Him? A better deputy? The tom didn't smile, he kept a straight face, an almost puzzled expression crossing his face. His whiskers twitched. How would the two get along and why did Banestar even choose Crossedsoul as a deputy if there was an argument over everything? Heh. Typical TempestClan, the tom thought to himself.
"Maybe we should split in two? Banestar and I and Crossedsoul and Frostfang? Unless you would rather stay in camp Crossedsoul. If you really want to, we could go as four, but I could as easily go with Frostfang if you two ladies would like to talk about respect some more.." he meowed, looking from one to the other calmly. Hell, the tom just wanted to hunt. If those two were going to scratch their eyes out, he wanted them to stay away from each other.
OOC; I'll start the thread if you'd like me to. Raid, Frost, and Coel, you can all reply to this, we can lock it and move it.

Crossedsoul held back a hiss at Banestar's retort. Lazy warrior? Her? She was the one who organized the hunting patrol in the first place! Oh, it was on now. "Then why, did you pick me? I know you picked me because you like me fire, and you like taunting it. you know I'll make a good leader, it is just in your nature to destroy, to insult, to create discord. Banestar, I know you pretty well, don't I?" Crossedsoul knew that there was a reason as to why she was picked as deputy. And this could be one of them. It probably was.
"I'd rather not stay at camp. But sure, let Cedarclaw try on deputy. He'd do a great job. He just might lack that fierce bravado that you search for in a rival." This was in no way to be meant as an insult to Cedarclaw. He was a warrior with undying loyalty and a brave heart. She simply had to point it out to her leader, who probably already knew. Cedarclaw was a fine warrior, and now she noticed how he was truly cringing on the inside from all this bickering. It would be time to leave soon, so she flicked her tail to Frostfang, the one who would be accompanying her.
