{ FATESONG }
I’m coming home, Tell the World I’m coming home | Let the rain wash away all the pain of yesterday I know my kingdom awaits and they’ve forgiven my mistakes | I’m coming home, I’m coming home Tell the World that I’m coming
Fatesong lay sleepily in the sunlight outside the nursery. Rowankit and Dewkit were playing together, while Veilkit tried to copy a battle move that an apprentice had shown him earlier in the day, before she had been called off to patrol. Her kits were nearly six moons old; soon they would be ready to become apprentices, and begin training. They were all so eager to be on the path to becoming warriors; Fatesong couldn't help but worry that they would be disappointed. Not by the training itself, because of course life carried many misfortunes and disappointments, she knew that well enough. No, it was the fact that the clan leader, Cometstar, was still missing. Only he could appoint apprentices, she was nearly sure; without him, her kits would grow past six moons and remain unapprenticed. She hoped he would return soon, or that Titianfoot would take over leadership duties. If not, how could the clan move forward? Kits needed to become apprentices, so that apprentices might become warriors.
It was too good a day to think much about these troubles, though. The slim black queen's mind wandered away, off on its own course, and soon she began to daydream of Conrad. He was the father of her kits, and once, he and Fatesong had been mates, if only for a short time. In all of her life with Delirium, though, those few moons had been the best of her life. Not all love could end well though, and some were to experience more than their share of life's worst. He had abandoned Delirium, and later, Fatesong had given birth to their three kits in Celestialclan, where she had taken them for a better life. Conrad was a decent tom, but he was a wanderer at heart, a loner at best. He wanted to take the four away from their adopted clan, into the woods with him, and she knew it wasn't right. So she was still raising her three kits alone, but that was nothing of a surprise. After all, warrior fathers were rarely very involved in the lives of their offspring. To be alone, in these waters which she was just wetting her paws with, did not mean that her heart was yet open to love. Fatesong's mind was full of the Conrad joining Celestialclan, taking a warrior name like she had, becoming her mate again and standing strong at her side. It would never happen, of course- but what could wishful thinking hurt on such a sunny day?
The sound of movement startled her from her drowsy state. The hunting patrol had returned and bore a decent amount of prey in their jaws, blackbirds and mice and even a fat squirrel, carried by its bushy tail. Some queens longed to leave the nursery and its sanctuary, to join their clanmates in hunting and patrolling again. For Fatesong, the desire was doubly as powerful, for she had yet to have much chance to get to know her clanmates. She might have accepted offers to get out of her nest, join another on a walk or hunt; but still the thought of Shard haunted her. The sable tom, leader of Delirium, was a looming threat in her mind. What if he came after them, harmed her kits? The queen, still weak from moons of near starvation and giving birth, would not be enough to fight him off. But being near her family made her feel safer anyway. Besides, then can't get into trouble with me watching them.

°°Hallowstar Padding delicately over to the she-cat, the handsome Siamese tom swiveled his frosty blue eyes left and right to watch his new clan. Hallowstar had been to the pool and back and received his nine lives. He was the rightful clan of CelestialClan and it gave him such pride to be the leader. Yet at the same time, he felt like things were falling apart and he could support his shoulder enough for his Clan. To begin with, there was an overdose of she-cats in his beloved Clan. Unless new toms were to enter the Clan, he wouldn't know how to handle the lack of males. Another thing bothering him, was the lack of mentors. He had to give Bearclaw Dewpaw because he didn't have anymore warriors to provide. Bearclaw was already a mentor to Glenpaw, and the two of them got along very well. He was afraid that Dewpaw and Glenpaw wouldn't get along. He already knew that Glenpaw hated just about every cat. Every cat except for Bearclaw and Crystalpaw. Another thing that overloaded his mind was the fact that Hailghost had murdered Jaspersun and there was going to be a war between TempestClan and CelestialClan. Jaspersun would be avenged! Hallowstar let out a noticeable sigh and went over to Fatesong before sitting down beside her. The she-cat was odd and even though he had chosen her son, Veilpaw, to be his apprentice, he still liked the undying love she had for her kits. "Hello Fatesong," he sighed, laying his head down on his paws. He was a very casual leader, loving all of his Clanmates and when he was around some cats, like Fatesong, he could be transformed into a warrior in an instant. A normal cat, free from problems. Some cats calmed him like that. Cats like Fatesong. "How are you?"

WELL, EVERYTHING YOU EVER SAID TO ME, IT WASN'T JUST WORDS, NO Relaxing a bit more now that she was used to the leader's presence, Fatesong reflected on all that had happened recently. Death; birth; new leadership; ever since she had shown up in Celestialclan, in fact, it seemed to be turned upside down. She wondered if it was always like this, so full of drama and trouble; or if she, perhaps, had brought it here. It was an ominous thing to think, not one she believed but one she worried the clan cats might think of themselves and come to adopt as a scapegoat. After all, she had shown up just about the right time, her and her Delirium born kits; it wouldn't be hard for the superstitious clan cats to realize this. She only hoped that if- and when- the time came that her position was questioned, and she was forced to speak of where she and her kits had really come from, Hallowstar and Fawndance would protect her. After all, she could only do so much to defend herself, and she didn't want Veilpaw, Rowanpaw, and Dewpaw getting caught up in all of the drama. She worried about them enough already- what if Shard showed up? without having to defend their very being in this new clan, Celestialclan. If only I could tell Hallowstar the truth about Delirium, and these peculiar outcasts that just happened to show up one day when he was a warrior. He seemed a nice enough sort, and she wouldn't have minded even befriending him, but Fatesong was used to being wary around cats she didn't know well. It would take quite a while before she could fully trust the new leader, or any of her clanmates, for that matter. Still, bonds were beginning to form between the ebony warrior and the other Celestialclan cats, whether she could see them happening or not.
As Hallowstar spoke, taking charge of the clan in his words, she couldn't help but look up with admiration at the siamese tom. He had hardly been named leader and already he was set in for what he would have to do to keep the clan strong. She hoped that he was truly as selfless and devoted as he seemed; there was something about the tom that made her want to believe in him. Fatesong flicked her tail, averting her gaze thoughtfully yet again as Veilpaw was mentioned. "Like father like son." She murmured, more to herself than to anyone else, before realizing what she had brought into the conversation and swiftly taking a step away, giving herself a shake. Before he could question Veilpaw's sire, she added, more loudly, "I hope he doesn't give you too much trouble. It's hard to earn his respect, but you're the cat to do it, I think." She remembered his excitement at being chosen as the leader's apprentice. "He's glad that you're his mentor, anyway." Though help was offered, Fatesong only shook her head at his comment, remaining silent. She wouldn't ask for his help, not when he had so many more pressing things to do. For now, she could handle things on her own.
It was silent a beat longer, letting them both collect their thoughts on the battle that was to be had. She wanted to fight, of course; she wanted to prove her loyalty to the clan, like an apprentice newly made warrior. They would be so short as it was; there were many apprentices, but her three didn't know anything of battle training yet, and so they couldn't be sent out, not unless Hallowstar was of cruel temperament. That left the other, older apprentices, Rosepaw, Glenpaw, and Crystalpaw, the chance to prove themselves and earn a bit of glory to show off to their younger counterparts. Fatesong almost smiled, imagining her kit's faces at being taunted by the other apprentices; Veilpaw would work furiously to show them up, she was sure of that.What can I do to let this clan swell? She pricked her ears, not sure she had heard him fully, for his voice was soft and meant clearly for only her to hear. Hallowstar seemed to be voicing, to her, a doubt; she was surprised that he was so comfortable in doing so, and had to think about his comment for a short while. "There's little we can do," she mewed quietly, her words showing that she would back him up, "but let time pass, for Celestialclan to grow strong again."
