Flamestripe noticed the deputy shift half a gaze to him. Feeling smug, he flicked his tail. Now now, why is the petty little Dreamfeather staring at foolish little me?
He thought, resisting the urge to purr with amusement. Sometimes, he just cracked himself up.
Shifting his paws, he quickly switched his gaze to his leader as he spoke to him. "You seem to want me to take some risks around here? You better not be trying to make me look like a fool.” He said. His voice sent shivers down the orange tabbys spine. Did his leader really see it this way? Surely not, he was only sharing his opinion. Not that it matters, anyway.

"I was only sharing my opinion in which you so graciously asked for." He said, sarcasm hinting on the edge of his voice. OOC: Yeh, it's short. VOIDSTAR Green orbs burned into Blackshard’s pelt; watching as the tom disappeared into the nursery with the two kits. Even after the tom had disappeared he stared after him, listening for howling, yowling, or any sort if disruption. Unexpectedly there was nothing. The fact that Blackshard had already tricked them by using Adderdance made his fur want to stand on end, but they both knew that Blackshard would be very foolish to try and mess with a clan where they could easily attack and kill him. On the other hand he should probably give his brother a chance because everyone makes mistakes every now and then, even he did, yet he rarely made mistakes because as a clan leader he could not afford to put the lives of his clan on the line like that.
Once their slightly unwanted friend had left them he turned back to the two Tempestclan cats. He didn’t have to explain himself to them, nor any of his clan. It was his final decision and that was final. It would also be his decision when he chose to get rid of Blackshard. Something inside him tempted him to go and talk to his kin a little more. Maybe they would get to know each other well and maybe they would become close partners in crime, or maybe not. The possibilities were pretty much endless for what could happen between the two, and what could happen for the future of the clan, but whatever it was he would make sure that Tempestclan stayed on top.
He ignored Dreamfeather’s silence and looked down at Flamestripe. ”Watch it.” He growled his eyes narrowing. Yes, he had asked for the ginger tom’s opinion but that didn’t give him the right to start thinking he could talk to his leader like that. Voidstar was capable of making decisions for himself and he knew that, but he had wanted to see what one of his warriors would think about the rogue joining the clan, just to give him idea of how bad the uproar within his clan would be when they all discovered who had joined the clan. He had a feeling that the more cunning ones would be glad of the addition for a reason previously mentioned; it would make the other clans fear them. He threw a glance over his shoulder at Dreamfeather and then back to Flamestripe. ”Now it would be good if you would care to excuse us.” He meowed to Flamestripe, even though it wasn’t really a suggestion it was more of a command. It was true the warrior had done well today, but Voidstar wasn’t one for praise and he needed to talk with his deputy alone for a little while.
”Dreamfeather, your silence suggests you have many thoughts on the matter.” He purred in amusement. His tail flicked upwards towards his den. ”Care to join me? I would go for a walk in the forest but I am a little hesitant to leave someone alone in camp just yet.” He added and half turned towards the pathway to his den.

* DREAMFEATHER
Now and again we try to just stay alive Maybe we'll turn it around 'cause it's not too late It's never too late
A bit of fur rose on her back at Flamestripe's rather rude tone, and her bit of curiosity for his sudden maturity evaporated quickly. She shot him a short, annoyed glance, flicking an ear to the side to dismiss her own embarrassment. He was just the same old tom, too big for his whiskers. Some things don't change... Dreamfeather sighed quietly at this thought, the fur along her back relaxing as Blackshard padded away, into the nursery. Voidstar gazed after his 'brother,' as he appeared to be, for a while. Dreamfeather guessed he expected something more, but there was nothing but silence to greet her silver ears.
After a few moments the black leader turned back to herself and Flamestripe, seemingly thinking deeply on the matter. Surprisingly, she didn't feel all that impatient, lost, too, in her pondering. She had turned back to gaze at him, away from the nursery entrance, only when he spoke to the ginger warrior. The deputy held back a snort at Voidstar's short reprimand. She had to admit, he was far more tolerant of the young warrior than Dreamfeather, but he wouldn't expect the tom to be speaking rudely to his leader. When she had been a spunky apprentice, Dreampaw had learned how to treat those higher than her status. Her mentor had taught her exceptional skills, and respect was among them. Didn't his mentor teach him anything? She wondered, trying to remember who had taught the tom. It had been only five moons ago that he had become Flamestripe, but she didn't recall. She had been a warrior before Flamestripe was Flamekit, and remembered everything about her mentor; his stern voice when she slipped up, even a little; his rare praise, which was so worth striving for. Perhaps he's a bit like Voidstar would be as a mentor. She decided silently, before noticing his glance and carrying herself back to the present.
She continued to listen silently as Flamestripe was excused, then focused back on Voidstar. She always had many thoughts; many that she kept to herself, all except to share those asked for with the leader. "I understand." She was hesitant to say much more where others could hear her, turning to follow him. "Shall I... continue to have a guard posted on Adderdance? And Blackshard now, too?" She finally asked, as they neared the den where the leader slept. It was smooth of Dreamfeather to call him Blackshard, and not Shard, but then, she had a lot of time in silence to choose her words before speaking. She was not all that sure, though, of how Blackshard ranked in the clan. Adderdance had been their prisoner... Was her mate to be treated as much more? She remembered Longshadow's comment on her leader allowing the rogue female into camp. I wonder if it has any pull on him... But Voidstar hadn't seemed to want to choose kin over Tempestclan. Certainly, he was curious, but any cat would have been, meeting a brother they had barely known they had.

VOIDSTAR Voidstar nodded to his deputy as she responded to him and leapt up the bark on the inside of the tree, using his claws to grip the path before pausing on the large branch just outside his den that he fondly referred to as the ledge, his ledge. He watched as Dreamfeather followed him up and he waited just outside allowing her to enter the den first; He may have had the higher position in this case but he had manners when it came to females. Come to think of it he hadn’t been keeping up with the females in Tempestclan recently but he would never think of Dreamfeather in that way. It wasn’t her appearance or anything she was a perfectly good looking she-cat but she was his deputy. He chose her for her brains and not her looks and he wanted her to focus on using her brain to be the best deputy that she could be. It was always a risk choosing a female for a deputy because at any moment they could find a tom and go off and have kits with him leaving their clan to suffer because of it. It was not unheard of within the clans but Voidstar was a very traditional tom when it came to gender roles and it had been a big step choosing the female above all the other eligible tom cats but there was one difference between them. All of the strong and respectable tom cats had let him down and Dreamfeather had not. Although in return for placing his trust with her he expected her to work hard for him, hence her not running off to have kits. Yet as he got to see more of her he doubted that she would.
Stepping into his den he took a seat opposite from where his deputy was and only then did he open his mouth to speak and discuss particularly significant clan matters. ”Yes that is indeed an issue and now that Blackshard is in the clan too is has become more complicated.” He began and paused for a brief moment to think. ”I feel that guarding them may not be the best option because I was hoping Blackshard could take part in clan activities and actually help out around here, I mean if the other clans don’t see him around the border they aren’t exactly going to believe us when we claim to have taken him in - if we tell them. I was hoping maybe we could give word to the senior warriors to keep a close eye on them both although give them a bit more freedom, not that Adderdance can do much mind you.” He thought out loud. So far Adderdance had done nothing to disgrace herself and with her kits soon due there was very little she would do. The kits would be no problem as they would be raised as though they were Tempestclan kits. It was just Blackshard that was a little bit more problematic. It would make sense to send Blackshard on patrols and it would let him learn the best places to hunt to get prey for the clan because he would be helping them as part of his debt. Coming out of his dream world and moving his gaze away from the generations of leaders claw marks that lined the walls of his den he rested his green eyes on Dreamfeather.

* DREAMFEATHER
Now and again we try to just stay alive Maybe we'll turn it around 'cause it's not too late It's never too late
At his nod she continued to follow faithfully, leaping up after him. Not exactly at his tail, she almost always had a barrier around herself with other cats, but not far behind him either, as he was the leader, and a discussion would be important. She didn't let any, or much, of her surprise show through that Voidstar would allow her to continue first, despite her having the lower rank, even if it was the second highest in the clan. She was just as happy when the toms of the clan treated her like any other cat. She was not the most feminine in action, though she did have exceptionally beautiful silver bengal fur and eyes the shade of ice, and so she didn't consider herself the most 'female' of Tempestclan. Certainly, she had been attracted to toms in the past, had attracted the attention of others, but she was a deputy now; what was to say that she had the time to go around treating toms as anything more than clanmates now? Hell, she was fair to them; but rarely friendly. She treated toms and she-cats fairly alike, and if one heard that the bengal female, Dreamfeather of all cats, was flirting, it was easily discarded as an untruth. As a warrior, she had used her looks to manipulate others, taunt them in battle with the other clans, and so this didn't make her one of those pretty but roughed over cats that didn't know how feminine they appeared. Dreamfeather knew it, but no, she didn't care at all, and she wasn't particularly proud of what she had done in the past.
There were matters of moons back on her mind as she entered the leader's den first, her black striped tail flicking once. The temptation to slip backward into memory drew her, to the comforts of an old life before ambition had been all she had left. Dreamfeather wanted for this distraction, but the large black tom followed her in, and this, catching her eye, drew her back to the scents of Voidstar around her. She was in the leader's den to speak with him, and this was not a place to be slipping into her deep, yet unsettling thoughts. Curling and uncurling her tail about her silver paws, she gazed back with icy blue eyes as Voidstar sat. There was not coldness in them so much as she rarely let emotions she felt inwardly grace them, and a few had thought poorly of her, and seen her as cold and uncaring, for it. Certainly she cared for the entire clan, the medicine cats and the leader included; just not one more particularly than an other. Her love was fierce, her loyalty stronger, but it had become difficult for her to show.
Yes, it will be difficult to have that pair in the clan together, breeding and bringing more of their children to mingle with Tempestclan blood. She thought, though sensed that he was not done, and kept it to herself. Would he think badly of her, to know that her feelings toward outsiders went deeper than distrust? That they were unintentionally closer to hatred and disgust? "It's wise to keep senior warriors around him at all times, though I think he'll be intelligent enough to figure out that he's being guarded." She, too, paused a moment, then steadied her gaze with him. Both leader and deputy seemed to have many thoughts, and it was a leap of faith for her to share a bit of what she thought with him. "I know that it is quite likely that you two share blood. In fact, I believe it myself, Voidstar, but I can't lay any trust on him. If you send him to patrol, to strike a bit of respect into the other clans, then I'll be along too, as many times as I can, and I'll always be ready to protect Tempestclan." It was a vow, but she said it in her usual, serious tone, so it wasn't too dramatic, though her words were impressive. It was just another thought to be shared; she would always lay down her life, though she had only one, for the clan. Dreamfeather wanted Voidstar to know that as long as she was around, she would do everything in her power to keep Blackshard under control, even take up stronger faith in Starclan, so that they might tell her more of the reason Blackshard had come. And if anything was a leap of faith, that was. Sure, she had had dreams before, of cats dead and gone, of Starclan, but she never thought too much of them or shared them. Perhaps they've let me know something, and I've missed it... [/blockquote]

VOIDSTAR Taking a moment to think about Dreamfeather’s comment part of him agreed with what she was saying but on the other hand another part disagreed. Blackshard probably didn’t remember everything about clan life and so maybe they could have a little fun with it and trick him every now and then if anything good came up. It would work so long as the whole clan stuck to it and it was basically Tempestclan vs Blackshard when it came down to it. ”He probably won’t think anything of it if we just make sure there is a senior warrior on every patrol, which there usually is because they lead the patrols, and one sitting around camp sunbathing or relaxing or something which is actually more normal than I would like but most of them work hard.” He commented. Then again they could always tell Blackshard that he needs a mentor before he can become a proper member of the clan, now which would really get on his nerves. It would be too amusing. Then again he might take that out on whoever was his mentor and they could end up with one fewer cat. Actually make that two fewer after he had killed Blackshard for killing one of his warriors. There was just no winning.
”It’s difficult you see because on one hand I don’t want to announce an outsider being allowed into the clan because of obvious reasons but then again I don’t want to blend in with the other clans and I want to show we are still as dangerous as ever, especially with Delirium out of the picture. Then again they could be quite slow to pick up on our new members, and it’s not like I am going to let any old street cat into Tempestclan, he has muscles and brains which makes him very useful and his little mate has kits which also makes her useful, not that I should have to explain myself to any of the clans.”
With a conflicted sigh his tail twitched irritably and curled over his paws. As leader he had the right to lead his clan in any way he chose regardless of what the other clans thought of them. If they had a problem with that then they would be hearing from his claws in due time. Then again as leader he should be thinking about the other clans and what they might do to cause problems for Tempestclan. Shaking the thought from his head he knew he rarely ever did what anyone expected him and it was in his nature to do his own thing, and so he would. ”I know I can trust you to protect Tempestclan and I understand your scepticism for I am also a little weary of this decision but he is in a more vulnerable position than we are as a clan so if it came to it we could quite easily claw his ears off. The fact that we share blood is a reason to be a little wearier because I know exactly what I am like but for the moment we will either use him to make us stronger or get rid of him, and somewhere along the way I may talk with him.” However, at this moment Blackshard didn’t really feel like kin to him. One should be able to trust their kin and at the moment he could honestly say that he had little trust in the tom. Something deep down hoped that he would have a reason to trust his brother and that they would get along brilliantly. On the other hand, he wasn’t going to get his hopes up.

* DREAMFEATHER
Now and again we try to just stay alive Maybe we'll turn it around 'cause it's not too late It's never too late
The bengal deputy nodded, though more so agreeing that there were too many senior warriors lolling around camp. Perhaps these Delirium kits could bring good to Tempestclan... With energetic new blood flowing in the clan cats who had not been mentors in moons would be forced to take on apprentices. She felt glad, before she could catch herself, that she already mentored Ablepaw- but then felt a pang and forced the thought away. It would be fine to mentor the rogue kits. They're different, not made, yet, of the same stuff as Blackshard. Dreamfeather tried to convince herself, but still thought she could see herself going harder than necessary on the outsiders in battle training.
As she gazed silently at him Voidstar seemed to be conflicted, but probably not in the troubled way she was, her tail flickering back and forth every few seconds. Having Delirium members in the clan won't be easy... But then, when has anything ever been easy for me? She wondered briefly, thinking of a time when there had never been any worries, no pressing concerns past everyday needs. Kithood, maybe, but only because that was difficult to remember. Everything else had always been difficult, flowing like a rising river, growing ever stronger as it threatened to push her over the edge of sanity. Voidstar spoke to her own thoughts about how the other clans should know and how they would take it. For the latter, she didn't think it would be well; some of the clans were more proud than others. They would never dream of taking in a cat without pure or partial clan blood, no matter how valuable they might be. But still... "What does it matter how they respond?" She murmured aloud, at last looking at him again. "We may as well announce it at the gathering that we have new kits in the clan, and a strong new warrior, by name, and perhaps bring him along, to let them see how powerful Blackshard is." The idea of having the tom along made her uneasy, admittedly. What was his purpose in Tempestclan? Could it truly be to simply ask for shelter, and nothing more than that? If I know anything, it's to expect the worst of him...
She watched his twitching tail as it mimicked her own, taking to heart what he said. Dreamfeather had known that they could take him on, the clan of them, and easily chase him away or kill him should he try anything; but, and this was hard for her to think... What if he divided the clan, turned warriors against each other, somehow? He was manipulative, she could tell that, and he knew just what any cat wanted- or needed- to hear. It was no shock that he and Voidstar were alike, she would not flinch from hearing her leader admit to that. She had never known of his blood, but could never see him as anything other than the leader; after all, Starclan, for what it was worth, had granted him his nine lives. It their ranks were truly full of stingy clanblood warriors, then they must approve of Voidstar. Anyway, who cares if they approve? He is a good leader, even if he's the same stuff of Blackshard. I'd trust him over a rogue any day.
It was growing later, she could tell by the dimming sky outside, and the silver she-cat realized it had been quite a while since she met Blackshard in the territory, with his two kits. There didn't seem much more to discuss; there was simply a lot to do, things to be carried out. She waited for further direction or note of what Voidstar planned to do, however, remaining quiet as she was not quite sure of her opinion on the tom's kin.

The more he thought about it the more he began to realise that there were already many cats in the clan that did not have pure Tempestclan blood. Many of them had come to the clan seeking refuge from the live of a rogue or a loner and past leaders had allowed them into the clan. In fact he was not even partly descended from any Tempestclan cats. His mother, Pandora, had been a she-cat who had wandered far from home and had sheltered in the clan he was now the leader of. In return for her shelter the leader had asked for her kits, him. As a result he was born a Tempestclan kit even though he had no claim to their bloodline. Then as soon as the five siblings were old enough she left – Shardkit and Eclipsekit leaving with her. He had never met his father and he never had plans to go and meet him. His life started here and it always would be here so he had always felt as though he had belonged here from the start and he didn’t have to take crap from any of his clan mates for not coming from a good bloodline because he was the leader. He is the leader. They wouldn’t dare say anything against him.
The story of his birth is similar to what the kits of Adderdance and Blackshard will be going through. Remembering his past and what a previous Tempestclan leader had deemed acceptable he had also inherited a queen’s kits in return for her shelter. Then again something told him that it was possible that Blackshard and Adderdance could be sticking around for a while, so many in the end they wouldn’t be raised like he had been, basically parentless. That meant that moons from when they were born they wouldn’t be sitting and questioning their heritage. They wouldn’t have that issue to bear, yet they would still know that they weren’t pure Tempestclan cats eventually. That is if they stayed.
”True, plus Tempestclan actually has many cats who were originally loners, I wouldn’t say we take pride with our heritage, I think we tend to focus more on our strength and the present. Unlike Celestialclan snobs.” He pointed out. Nodding to himself it was clear their conversation had come to an end and he signalled to the exit with his tail. ”Excuse me now.” He added and waited expectantly for her to go before curling up in a ball and hiding his nose in his tail.
