Age: 35 moons
Gender: Tom
Clan: VertigoClan
Desired Position: Medicine Cat
Short Description:
A stocky golden tomcat with green eyes and dark brown tabby markings and spots along his back. Very odd and aloof, rarely speaks.Description:
Pomegranatefur is a stockily-built tom, and good for him, too, because he sometimes goes without food for long enough that you can see his ribs through his golden-brown coat, if you're close enough. Because of his heavy build, though, he never really looks "skinny", just varying degrees of "healthy" to "unhealthy". He has short, coarse, surprisingly well-groomed fur and rich chocolate coloured tabby markings all along his face and legs. He was named, it seems, for the spots that cover his back and other parts of his pelt - so many of them that they reminded his mother many, many tightly packed pomegranate seeds. His paw-pads are always raw and cracked and you'd think it would sting for him to be handling all those herbs but he's never once complained. He has brilliant green eyes that would be quite handsome if it weren't for the glazed, unfocused look about them, as well as a tinge of white around his muzzle and front paw. His tail is long and sleek with a ragged tuft at the end from a sparring match gone wrong as a young warrior's apprentice.Personality:
Oh, Pomegranatefur. If he had the chance to be a recluse, he would, but it seems that as medicine cat he hasn't the time. It's not that he hates others, see (in fact, he has a very soft spot for kits and apprentices, except for when they try to organize his stocks), but that he's... not all there. He has gotten better in recent moons, but "crazy ol' Pomegranitefur" is still a common thing to be said in all four Clans when referring to this medicine cat. He only speaks to others, even his patients, when absolutely necissary, otherwise he can be found muttering the names of herbs over and over again, quietly to himself. It's not like anyone goes out of their way to talk to him, either... he doesn't exactly hold a conversation well - he's too easily distracted, sometimes by nothing at all. Still, he is an incredibly talented medicine cat, adroit and phenomenally knowledgeable on all sorts of herbs and flowers. He takes his duty very seriously and that seems to consume him; the younger cats say that is why he's so out of it, although anyone who knew him during his short bout as a warrior's apprentice will tell you he was always sort of like that.Experience:
Whenever Pomegranatefur is in a good enough mood to be coherent with you, you will find that he is on the teetering line between a wise, compassionate tom and a cranky old elder. He is completely sure in his abilities and that makes him stubborn, especially among the other medicine cats. He prefers to stay within his own Clan, where at least he has earned a fair share of respect, and despises Gatherings. While living the secluded life of a medicine cat may not have done anything to improve his social skills, he is happy where he is, and seems to have been born to heal others.
Pomegranatefur was born to an unremarkable queen and an even more unremarkable tom. Both fine warriors, yes, very well-behaved and never caused any drama or any splash. That they would have such an unusual son, no one would ever have guessed. Pomegranatefur's litter was a little bigger than the norm - six kits, four she-cats and two toms. All fine looking kits, nothing the matter with them to be seen within the first five moons, save for Pomegranatekit's slightly eccentric behavior, so they all became apprentices to six of the best warriors the Clan had to offer.Picture:
Now that he was so often separated from his sisters Fernpaw and Apricotpaw, who had sheltered him and protected him throughout his kithood, Pomegranatepaw's true oddities began to show. He didn't' talk much, and always seemed much more interested in the plants growing around the evergreens than in his hunting lessons. He knew the names of most of them and what they were used for long before his befuddled mentor finally suggested he be switched to medicine cat apprentice. He leaned quickly and without complaint, and although he was barely of age when the former medicine cat was kicked out of the Clan due to mothering kits, he accepted his duties wholeheartedly.
Aside from that, Pomegranatefur's life has been rather uneventful. His brother and two of his four sisters have gone on to parent kits and have lead rather exciting lives as warriors, with friendships, betrayals, good times and bad times. All of this goes on while Pomegranatefur sits in the background, working diligently, where he is happiest.
