Serenewinter had heard the pain her friend had been through, but she dared not to go in. She waited for Lynxstar to speak before grabbing two pieces of fresh kill and taking them to the nursery, she put them down between Radianteclipse and Emeraldfire. "Eat well, you need your strenght, same for you Emeraldfire." She meowed. Bending forward she touched her nose to each little kit in turn. One day they would all be fine warriors. "I must go now, no cat will get past me, you will be safe." She promised, then touched noses with her friend before leaving the nursery, the scent of milk and kits leaving her glands, swept away by the wind. Soon it would be blood she would be able to scent. Going over to the fresh kill pile she bent down and ate a mouse.

Lilythorn was at Lynxstar's side in seconds. She walked beside Lynxstar on her way to the freshkill pile. Lilythorn took a mouse, and sat down, waving Lynx over with her tail. "We will avenge Flamingpaw and Poppyfur." she said, certainty in her voice. Lilythorn took a bite of her mouse. She would take on the whole of MaliceClan to avenge her little sister. She did not care anymore that they were not blood. They were sisters. "She was my little sister." she whispered, pain entering her voice, but quickly leaving. She finished her mouse off in a few quick bites. Lily licked her lips, and went to see Radianteclipse and her kits.
Emeraldfire dipped his head to Serenewinter. "Thank you." he said, tearing into the vole that was set before him. He was finished by the time the deputy stuck her head in. "Emeraldfire, how many are there?" she asked. Emerald was filled with pride. "Five, Lilythorn. Five." he said, the pride seeping into his voice. He heard her small gasp as she saw the tiny little kits, some sleeping, some not. He let out a purr. "No names yet. We're waiting, for now." Emeraldfire smiled at his sleeping mate, and let out a yawn. "We're going to battle soon. We need you to come with us Emeraldfire. I'm sorry that you cannot stay with Radianteclipse and your kits." Lilythorn mewed. He watched her walk out, and he turned his head back to his family, and he felt fear. It might be the only time he would get to spend with them.

A sort of scuffling noise reached his tawny brown ears, accompanied by a dreadful moaning, and he shot Lynxstar a bemused glance as she loped into the nursery hurriedly to deliver Radiant's kits. Such a busybody, but he could admire that, if not for the fact that he was exactly the opposite these days. He slumped down a bit and ran a tongue-washed forepaw across his skull, trying, without much success, to ignore the shrieks and hollers from the nursery. He had been sliced and nearly slaughtered in battle countless times, and yet the pregnant queens always managed to earn his sympathy. But then, they would be lively, healthy kits, that would later become apprentices, and he couldn't help but brighten at the thought.
He perked up even more as the VertigoClan leader scrabbled out of the den and onto her evergreen perch, just enough time to compose herself. Respectfully he halted mid-bath and directed his attention toward her, the picture of solemnness. Cobaltbreeze thought for a minute, scanning a mental checklist; there wasn't anything in particular that needed his attention, and he was well rested, and plenty full. Compulsively he finished grooming himself, and strolled awkwardly to the mouth of Lynxstar's den. "Ready any time, Lynxstar." he managed to choke out, baffled as to why suddenly speaking was so difficult. [/blockquote]

Radianteclipse gasped. "No!" She whispered. She was more awake now than she had been before. Radianteclipse crawled forward to be closer to Emeraldfire. She pushed her nose into his fur and wimpered. She could now hear the squeaks of protest from her kits when she moved. The shrill paniced squeals made her heart throb. She guided them closer with her tail. She wanted to fight, but there was no way she could leave her kits, even though she hadn't known them long she already loved them, but she also loved Emeraldfire. She knew what he would want. He was a good fighter, he wouldn't let himself die, especailly with her and the kits on his mind.

The young warrior, her bright eyes wide as she and her friend burst into camp just in time to hear Lynxstar's words. Battle! War! The thoughts enticed her, she and her brother were born with their claws unshealthed. That's what their mother always told them, at least, and for all it was worth, the joke was true, for any thought of battle to Summerpath and there was a rushing sound, blood, pumping through her veins with pure excitement at the thought of fighting for her clan, for her freedom. As if an instant reaction, she drew her tougue over her chest, dipped her head and smiled to Cloverspring, then dashed off to find her brother. If needed, she'd kick him in the gut if at all to tear him away from dear Dusty. "Northwind!" SHe called and flashed her sibling a wide grin, padding over to sit next to him. Dusty Dusty Dusty
Dustedrose. The young, beautiful tawny she-cat was all his mind could take on, even Lynxstar's proud, though if anything fearful, words could not even shake him, and he numbly turned to look when his sister excitedly bounded forth out of the miling crowd to sit beside him. "Summerpath." He acknowledged, and then, at that moment, he realized what would happen, Dustedrose could die in this! His forest green lights grew wide with fright and worry, quite unlike Summerpath's big, easy, smiling smoky green eyes as she glanced upon him in confusion. "Summerpath! Where is Dusty?" He asked his sister frantically, whipping around, the freezing and almost falling over when he felt an excrusiating blow to his belly, he nearly vomited, been held his meal. "What the hell was that?" He yowled, swiveling his skull to glare venomously, shaking out his ruffled pelt. "Would you please consider bothering to care about someone or something aside from your beloved 'Dusty'?" Sumerpath spat, glaring back with equal vehemence. "Sure, sure. She'll have yor kits eventually, she's a nice gal, but get over yourself!" She growled, her tail lashing like an upset viper. "What?" Northwind meowed, blinking like a confused kit. "Oh, you idiot!" Summerpath groaned, sitting back on her haunches. "Tell me, honestly now, that you have thought about something or someone besides you, eating, and dear little Dusty, and when was it?" Northwind only frowned, and innocently mewed. "But.. I love her." "And I love you, but StarClan damn, you're forgettign everything else! Some how, I don't know if it's by miracle or I'm just StarClan sent, but I manage to stay affectionate to you, to my friends, and to Lynxstar, all at the same time! Plus, oh, get this, I hunt sometimes! And yesterday, I patrolled." She sneered, eyed still narrowed. Northwind remained silent for a while, then hung his head, bending forth to draw his tougue over Summerpath's crinkled brow. "I'm sorry." Summerpath sighed, then let out a half hearted chuckle. "I could swat you sometimes. Now come on, we gotta go eat something before the big battle." Northwind smiled and padded after her to the fresh-kill pile.

Radianteclipse nibbled gingerly on the small vole that had been left for her, but her tummy was still grumbling all the same. She felt so weak, maybe some more fresh kill would help her. Her kits had stopped suckling and so she tucked them up in her warm nest, she would not be away long enough for it to get cold, the nursery was kept warm all the time, due to the fact it was so sheltered. "Come and eat with me, I could eat a horse." She meowed feebly and walked out of the nursery and over to the fresh kill pile. Her belly felt numb and floppy below her. She gingerly sat down. She felt numb in a lot of places and her belly felt funny from her kits suckling. She yawned and carefully made herself comfortable on her side, before catching her claw in a bird and dragging it until it was beside her mouth. Taking a mouthful of the feathers off and spitting them out she began to nibble daintily at the prey.

Bounding into camp, considerably happier and refreshed, she skittered to a halt next to her friend and glanced up curiously to where Lynxstar was perched. An involuntary shudder ran down her spine, but it didn't last. Deadly rumors or no, MaliceClan was still exactly that, just another clan. There was no reason to worry, especially with the other clans backing them up. And VertigoClan was hardy and healthy, on top of that. Cloverspring grinned lopsidedly; life was so much easier when you only looked at the positive.
She brightened a bit, nodding towards Summerpath as she scampered off somewhere, ideally to give Northwind the promised verbal thrashing, and plunked down, perplexed as to what to do next. Her stomach rumbled in response, and she heaved herself up, bewildered to find Radianteclipse also padding towards the fresh-kill pile. Cocking her head inquisitively she mewed, "Hey, how are the kits doing?" Instinctively her eyes drifted towards the queen's stomach and she blinked in surprise. "Did you already deliver?" She shifted her attention to the collection of prey and began to nibble on a vole as she waited for a reply. [/blockquote]

Radianteclipse looked up from her prey and saw Cloverspring. She put on as much of a smile as she could manage to bring together in her current state. She had never stopped being friends with Cloverspring. They had always been good friends. "Yes I did." She mewoed and wrapped her tail around her tummy to hold it close, it felt to delicate right now. "There are five Cloverspring! Five!" She couldn't keep the excitment and love out of her voice as she told her friend this. She blinked proudly and began to nibble her prey again. She thought of them all tucked up in bed, it made her feel better, it gave her a new strength and passion for love when she thought of her adorable little angles. She looked behind her to check if Emeraldfire was coming but rolled her eyes and turned back around. He was probably just looking over his kits proudly.

Emerald eyes glittered warmly as Radianteclipse acknowledged her and launched into a friendly conversation. She felt remarkably stupid for her little outburst earlier; of course she still had friends, and on top of that, cheery friends. The smoky gray queen didn't seem bothered as much by Northwind, but then of course she didn't, she had a loving mate and several little furry bundles to look after. Five furry bundles! She shook her head in amazement and replied "That's wonderful. I'm really happy for you, Rad." And it was true, Cloverspring decided that it was impossible for any cat to look at Radiant and not feel at least a little bit thrilled.
But it was a wave of sadness that followed as it dawned on her that Emeraldfire, as well as several other cats, might not ever return to their mates after this battle, and that under the queen's mask of sheer joy was most likely a grave sorrow. Her heart sunk a bit. Life could be so unbearably unfair. [/blockquote]

Radianteclipse smiled fondly. "They had better behave themselves when they get older, and cheeky." She chuckled lightly. It was better to take her mind off the battle by talking about her new kits. "Keep an eye on them please." She said with another light chuckle. She knew Cloverspring would also be faced with the fearsome battle that was to come. Her eyes grew worried then. "Look after yourself." She meowed to her friend softly. She wanted to be fighting alongside her friend so badly, but her kits needed her now more than they ever would, well she hoped. She bent down and nibbled more of the bird. "We have to win right?" She asked with large black pupils of concern in her green eyes. The light rain tickled her pelt in a refreshing kind of way that made her feel more awake than before. She took a deep breath of fresh air while she could, it was not very fresh in the nursery, but the warmth was better for her kits.

His ears flicked forward, almost on reflex, as if it were Dustedrose come padding up. But it wasn't. He gulped animatedly. It most definately was not Dustedrose. He looked over at Summerpath for help, but she was busily tucking away at her thrush, pausing every few minutes to get her claws messy and tear the carcass apart. "Oh just eat it all you goose-face!" Northwind laughed almost on reflex at his sister's piggish way of devouring a poor creature, and shook his head, trying not to look up at the two she-cats casually chatting. Casually ignoring him. Well. Two could play that. Northwind let a small smirk dance across his face before it vanished and he bent to nibble away at his own meal, eating in a more polite fashion than Summerpath.

Radianteclipse couldn't help but sense the bitter atmosphere hanging around them, even in her maternal mood. She frowned slightly. They had once been such good friends, but over the past two moods he had ignored them both for Dustedrose. It hurt to lose a best friend, but Cloverspring was obviously more annoyed about it than she was, it was not hard to notice the awkward stance both cats were holding, back's turned to each other. She would have to do something about it eventually wouldn't she? "Hey Northwind..." She began but she didn't know what to say after than. She bit down lightly on her tongue. She really didn't have time for this, it would all be perfect if they were all still best friends. However, she had hurt Northwind without meaning too, and he had hurt them whether he meant it or not by sticking like glue to Dustedrose's side and following her around with his mouth hanging open. That bothered Cloverspring, it was easy to tell. All she had to do was open her eyes to notice these things.

Parting her jaws to speak again, she stopped abruptly, leaving her mouth hanging wide open rather dumbly, keenly aware of the new presence. She ruffled her silky ash gray fur a bit, and turned back to Radianteclipse suddenly, determined to pull of a cold shoulder. She laughed a stiff, forced laugh and mewed, "They'll be a handful, that's for sure, but hopefully they'll be more of a joy than a burden." Her focus was no longer really with the queen, for it was impossible to turn a blind eye to the new arrivals. She flashed Summerpath a sympathetic glance, wondering what had gone on between the siblings, but she was thoroughly engrossed in her meal.
Cloverspring let out a low, inaudible growl in frustration; something was telling her to let it all go, but her kindness had a limit, and so she let the rigid, invisible barrier remain. The foolish oaf deserved to feel a bit of guilt or remorse. She snorted. Oh StarClan forbid! [/blockquote]

'hey northwind'
It was absolutely all her needed, his ears flew forward from their folded reverie, eyes bursting open like blossoms in the morning, their dusky green shade brightening just a bit. His head, maw still dripping and scarlet stained, shot up from the carcass, teeth flashing in an inviting smile. "Hi Radianteclipse." He purred, just a second too quickly, his voice only a pinch overly enthusiastic. But how was he to help it? He wasn't rotten to her after all, her occasional glances were so vehemently disliking, making Northwind want to curl up and fester like crowfood, but of course, only Dusty kept him going past those glanced. But.. now.. he looked up, hoping to see her beaming happy, but all he felt radiating off her smoky pelt was unease. He sighed, inwardly kicking himself for hoping. "Congrats on the kits." He murmured, and bent back down into his meal.

Seapaw crept out of his den. Stretching each limb at a time, he yawned greatly. That was a nice rest. He shook his brown tabby fur and looked around with his sea blue eyes. Were was Colbat anyway? He wanted to train! Seapaw felt his paw tingle with excitment at the thought of battle training. Maybe if he proved himself before the battle then he could go! He knew this was probably unlikely, but what was the harm in trying? As he looked around, he pondered on asking someone.
