"I was just doing what any good warrior would have done." he meowed. If it had come to it he would have died fighting right there, he shuddered to think about what it would be like, having to watch Cloudpaw from where he sat in Starclan, not even a warrior. Nettlepaw looked up at her eyes, his expression fierce. "It was his old mate, and son, don't go looking for them, they killed Zodiacteller quite easily, but I think it was more from anger, they will be back." He meowed. He was serious now, scared even, of what lay up aheah for him. He did not want Cloudpaw to die.

Puritypaw looked at the two apprentices. She hid behind her mentor and continued watching them care for another. "Why wasn't I clanborn in CelestialClan Stainedwater?" quietly asked her mentor. Puritypaw was now completly hidden behind her mentor.
--
"Why are you always a scaredy-cat?" Stainedwater teased back. "Well, who knows where you were before you wandered here. Hah." The warrior turned around and left the medicine cat den, getting impatient with waiting for a response. "C'mon. We'll discuss this outside, and better get training." The two left the den and Stainedwater dragged his apprentice out of the camp and into the terra.

~Gryphonflight~
The steel shaded medicine cat nodded to Nettlepaw and thanked Stainedwater before he left with Puritypaw. He blinked once at the appearance of Cloudpaw and spoke to her quietly as he turned to leave. "Make sure he doesn't pull those cobwebs loose." Trusting the she-apprentice with his patiant the tall and broad Gryphonflight pushed his way into the clearing.

Cloudpaw nodded to Gryphonflight as he left. She would have liked to have gone hunting or something with Nettlepaw, but that would have to wait until he was healed. "They'll be back?" she asked nervously. She knew there was something going on; the tension in the air was obvious to her, perhaps not to every cat but she was sensitive to these things. "Do..do you know what's going on?" she asked a little hesitantly. She didn't know about her friend, but to her it seemed as though there were dark storm clouds looming on the horizon, coming to comsume them all.

"Thats what they said." he meowed. His thoughrs began to trail off as he wondered if he would be allowed to go to the gathering that was coming up, yet the coming storm did look bad. "Me? Not really no. Ghoststar is not very happy though." He meowed, he guessed that was where Gryphonflight had vanished to. He looked up at Cloudpaw in concern. "You know you are making me feel weak by standing over me like some sort of guard dog, of course you are much better looking than one of those things." He meowed with a grin.

Cloudpaw had indeed noticed her mentor acting a little strange lately. She wanted to know what was going on, if only to put her mind at ease, but Ghoststar probably had a reason for not telling her apprentice. Perhaps it was better not to know, but still...it was increasingly frustrating having to stop terrible visions plaguing her mind about what might be happening. She had always had a very vivid imagination. She was brought back to the present from her thoughts at Nettlepaw's remark. "Sorry for scaring you," she mewed with sarcasm, although she was smiling as she flopped down beside him. "That better?" she asked, twitching an ear, trying not to laugh. At least this was a welcome distraction from the foreboding thoughts she had been having before. She hadn't missed the hidden compliment in his words either, and that certainly cheered her up.

Nettlepaw twitched his tail impatiently, it looked like he would be in here for the next long while. What would he do stuck in here all day every day with nothing to do but sleep and twitch his tail. Gryphonflight was nice, but he wasn't a warrior, so he couldn't talk about battle moves or anything like that with him. He grinned when Cloudpaw sat down. "Yes, now I feel big, because I am taller than you." He teased. "Cloudpaw? Will you come and visit me when I am stuck in here? I will have nothing to do, and well I can't really talk to Gryphonflight about battle training." he meowed, letting himself pout a little in the hope that it would convince Cloudpaw to visit him when she could.

Cloudpaw nodded, a little smile on her muzzle. She had been hoping for the perfect excuse to come see him all the time. And this was indeed perfect. "Of course I will, Nettlepaw," she replied, and purred. "I'll make sure you're never bored. But I think maybe you should get some rest now. You'll heal faster." She was no medicine cat, but she was sure Gryphonflight wouldn't be too happy if she kept her friend awake for too long. "I'll be back later," she meowed, and rose to her paws again, a little reluctantly. Her fur brushed his as she left the den, and it made her whole pelt tingle. Flashing him one last little smile she padded across camp to Ghoststar's den.

Nettlepaw was glad to hear that she would be back, but he did not want her to leave now. As she walked away from him his fur tingled, as soon as she had left the den and disappeared from sight, he felt a little empty, disappointed, lonely. There was nothing for him to do now but sleep. With a sigh he settled himself back down, her scent still lingered where she had sat. Although it was not best comfortable sleeping on the ground with no moss bedding he would have to make do, unless he was stealthy enough to sneak back to the apprentices den, but he doubted it in his current state. His chin rested on his paws, he closed his eyes, and eventually sleep began to wash over him.
Ghoststar was pacing the walls of her den, it may have been big to her when she was lying sleeping in it, but when she wanted to pace it suddenly felt small, tight, enclosed. Right now she felt as though she could pace the whole forest, with quick paws barley brushing the ground. She sat down for a few seconds and flicked her tail, before heaving herself up again and beginning to pace. She limped around her den, blood running freely from her wounds. She was not best pleased, and very restless. What was she going to do? Her thoughts raced before her. Dancingswan's kits would need to be apprentices very soon, in fact they were about ready to now, she had not even started to think about who would mentor them, and Nettlepaw, the wounded apprentice, was practically ready to become a warrior and serve his clan. Of course, she could not hold his ceremony with him in his current state, it would be a moon until he was ready to be a warrior anyway, his performance today had not been the best, oh course he had not known what to expect, he had never fought a real enemy before, but his heart was in it, she knew that. He was a lot more willing than any of her lazy warriors who had just sat by and watched Zodiacteller die. Mouse-brained fools. Her nose twitched as she scented Cloudpaw, she sighed deeply. "What is it Cloudpaw? I am a little busy." She meowed sharply. She was sure that whatever it was it would be able to wait for another day.

Cloudpaw took a couple of steps into her mentor's den, unsure whether she was allowed to come in or not. "Ghoststar," she meowed, dipping her head respectfully. Even though the silver she-cat was her mentor, Cloudpaw still felt a little nervous around her. After all, she was the Clan leader and had power over everyone else in the Clan. Cloudpaw told herself that she had nothing to worry about; she would only ever feel Ghoststar's wrath if she broke the warrior code or something like that. "I...I just wanted to ask about Moonpaw." Cloudpaw glanced at her sister, who was still sitting hunched up in the clearing. The black she-cat had fetched some prey and was gulping it down, and Cloudpaw was reminded of how hungry she was. Turning back to Ghoststar she continued, "She doesn’t have a mentor now. I don’t want to interfere, but is there anyone who can take over her training?” She was talking like a cat much older and more mature than she was. In a way, she had always been a little more mature for her age. She waited for Ghoststar’s reply, twitching her ear.

Ghoststar watched her apprentice carefully asshe stumbled over her words, often she did not try to be intimidating, but it just sometimes turned out that way and she couldn't help it. No, she had not thought about this. Who would be the new mentor to Moonpaw? She paused from her pacing and plopped down onto her bottom. her whiskers twitched as she thought. Aquadapple was a good mentor, and she didn't currently have an apprentice, but Irispool was proving to be a good future mentor and she had not yet had an apprentice. She nodded, she knew who would be the new mentor to Moonpaw. Of course she would have to discuss this with Irispool before it would be confirmed. "I have a cat in mind." was all she could reveal. If Irispool declined, and Cloudpaw had told her sister who her new possible mentor would be then there would be a problem. No she would not risk that, Cloudpaw was a trustworthy cat, but this was something that would only be shared with her deputy, let alone any warrior in her clan, never mind an apprentice, even if it was her apprentice and she knew her well. "Anything else?" She asked.

~Gryphonflight~
Sidetracked by Zodiacteller's corpse lying in the camp the medicine cat knelt by the tom and pressed his nose into his fur. Looking up into the sky he whispered harshly, his voice chocked with rage and grief. "He's in your paws now." As he silently mourned the loss of one of his clan he barely noticed Cloudpaw push her way into Ghoststar's den. Standing up the huge male licked Zodiacteller's ear then picked up his supplies and raced into his leaders den. Nearly knocking Cloudpaw to the ground Gryphonflight pulled up short and his tail lashed once in frustration. She shouldn't be bothering Ghoststar about mentors right now!
Cloudpaw I need to see to Ghoststar." Gryphonflight mewed tersely. He pushed into the den and layed out his herbs and the meal he would try and get his leader to eat. The steel colored tom's shoulders were speckled with black flecks and they flexed as he kneaded the ground in worry. He dipped his head low to Ghoststar and waited on the sidelines. He was only the medicine cat he had no affair in things of this matter.

Cloudpaw nodded, that was enough for her. At least her sister would not fall behind in her training. "Thank you Ghoststar," she meowed. She turned around to see Gryphonflight, obviously impatient to see Ghoststar. Flattening her ears she ducked out of the den, feeling distinctly annoyed. The sooner she was a warrior, the better. Maybe then she might get respected more and not just ignored, just because she was an apprentice. She padded past her sister to the fresh-kill pile and took a mouse. Moonpaw came over and managed a quick smile. "I asked Ghoststar about getting a new mentor for you. She said she had a cat in mind." Cloudpaw pressed her flank against her sister's, comforting her. Moonpaw replied simply, "Thanks." She didn't exactly feel like talking right now. Cloudpaw finished her mouse and they both padded over to the apprentices' den. Cloudpaw didn't know when their training would start again, since Ghoststar seemed pretty busy right now. But they still had to get their strength up. She lay down beside her sister, who was asleep in no time. Cloudpaw rested her head on her paws. Any other time she would have gone and kept Nettlepaw company, but she wasn't going to leave Moonpaw on her own again. Closing her eyes, she slowed her breathing and eventually drifted off to sleep.

Irispool patted up to Zodiacteller's lifeless body her eyes clouded with sadness. She didn't know the tom well but she was always deeply affected when a cat dies. She buried her nose in his long fur for a second and then went to Nettlepaw. "How are you feeling?" She asked her voice light like a trickling stream.

Nettlepaw opened one eye, his darker eye and peered out it across at the paws of a warrior. When they spoke it took only seconds for him to match the paws with the voice, and the name, Irispool. He opened his maw and let out a yawn. "A little stiff and weak, but I will live." He meowed, suddenly too stiff to raise his head to look properly at the cat he was speaking to. He lay very still, more to please Gryphonflight, when he came back to a sleeping cat with all cobwebs properly intact. How he longed to be in the apprentices den though.
Ghoststar was for once glad to be saved by the medicine cat. "Hello Gryphonflight, is Nettlepaw ok? Or stable at least?" She asked. She would only let him heal her when any other injured cats had been seen to and were now on a road to healing. She had her nine lives, her clan mates did not, they would always be seen to and thought about first. Feeling the pain of her torn pelt begin to sink into her. Only one thing worried her, they had said that they would be back. She would be first to speak at the gathering that was coming up. This was not good news for any of the clans, and it clearly wasn't just the two of them who were coming back. Something was coming for the clans, something big. Had she been fit to, she would have sent out cats to tell them right now as a warning, but how welcome would they be? Especially Tempestclan. She limped over to her nest and carefully lay down in it.
Mudsplash padded into camp, he knew something had happened. The sight of his clan mates body lying in the camp sent shivers through him, he stopped the tearscoming to his eyes. He slowly made his way over to Ghoststar's den and poked his head through, Ghoststar obviously wanted to see him. "Oh Mudsplash, this isn't a very good time, but I must ask you, Moonpaw needs a new mentor, could you be so kind?" She asked, eyes hopeful, but not forceful. Mudsplash had already had a couple of apprentices in his time, and he was a good mentor to other cats, he was also one of the older warriors in the clan. "Certainly, I shall leave you in peace now though." Before she could protest he left his den, and went to mourn for Zodiacteller.
