Ghoststar frowned. "Sorry I must report what happened with the rogue and tell them to keep their eyes open, maybe Aquadapple shall hold the hunting competition for you, or we could have one tomorrow." She meowed, sorrow in her eyes at the fact their plans were ruined thanks to some stupid rogue. She cast a slightly hopeful smile to the apprentices, she wished they could still have the hunting competition now, but she was the leader, and she had to be practical about this. She turned to face Aquadapple. "I have no idea, but the clan must be alerted." She meowed sternly. "However, feel free to still hold a hunting competition for the apprentices." She added. As she turned to pad away she called a farewell over her shoulder and disappeared into the ferns, and began to make her way quickly back to camp. Nettlepaw looked after Ghoststar with wide eyes. "I should go, my mentor might get annoyed." He said solemnly. "Goodbye Cloudpaw, Moonpaw." With that he glanced one last time at Cloudpaw before disappearing after Ghoststar. Ghoststar to camp. Nettlepaw to camp.[/size]

"Bye," meowed Cloudpaw, tail drooping. Moonpaw flicked her own tail in farewell. Cloudpaw turned to Aquadapple. "I don't want to have the hunting competition without Nettlepaw. Can we do it tomorrow?" she asked the she-cat. Moonpaw coughed. Cloudpaw glanced at her, and her sister's eyes were filled with laughter. Moonpaw opened her mouth to say something, but closed it again. She would share her thoughts later, perhaps when Aquadapple wasn't around. She didn't want Cloudpaw to hate her.

Pale, sage hued eyes flashed indignintly as the russet red she-cat was forced by her ego to swipe her tougue over short soft, but quite soaked, fur. Her glare was directed to the ground at her side as she dried herself, but in a sudden, they were glaring at her son, who she knew, just knew, he'd be laughing, subtly, he was no fool, Slash ought to know his mother would be more than happy to gut him. Ha. That wouldn't please Knife, but she was older than Knife anyway! How could that red-eyed mongrel instantly expect loyalty and praise when he was still wet behind the ears? Yeah, he'd killed, big deal! So had she! Falling in that hell-forsaken stream back in that Paradise Valley, as she'd called it, was more refreshing than she'd liked. The scout let out a feircesome, snappy snarl to silence any nickers that Slash may have thought to utter, she'd rather not stain her claws when they were on a mission. Finally! They would see some action, and some clans. Sure, they were scouting the area for a new temporary home, but look! Slaves just waiting to be captured! She inwardly purred at the thought, surely after this report Knife would give 'em a treat. The thought have her satisfaction, especially asince she was now dry. Redhatred turned to her very dry son and ducked her head. "Now's the time, you knwo your part, yes? Only one day, take a couple lives, run. Understand? Kill the apprentices, they're easiest. A warrior would be difficult, but a jackpot nontheless. Knife would be happy." She mewed, her voice hard and dry, rough from much shouting in her years. "Weary wanderers, remember, let me talk you arrogant fool."

Slash had indeed been chuckling to himself, amber eyes gleaming with dark amusement. He fell silent though when his mother snarled, knowing better than to defy her. She was the one cat he wouldn't stand up to, and the one cat he couldn't kill. Deep down he saw this as a weakness, but his loyalty to her overpowered that sense. He narrowed his eyes and grinned in anticipation of blood. He could smell cats ahead, and he flexed his claws, sinking them into the earth. He nodded at his mother's last words, he could be careless with his own. But never with his fighting.

Why so quite? SHe thought about teasingly asking her son, but held her snappy tougue, he was excited, enthralled, she knew it. He would kill, he was good at it, she silently gave credit, but she'd never tell it aloud. The faint affection gleaming in her eyes should be enough for him, if not, he was an ungrateful lump of fail. She nodded. "Let's go". She mewed quietly, and padded into the steep territory, wandering along, waiting someone to find them.

Aquadapple looked at Ghoststar as she started padding away, and understood. When Nettlepaw left, she felt sorry that he couldn't be a part of it. She was about to tell the other apprentices that they could still have it, but when Cloudpaw decided to have it another time, her head went up, and she tilted her head.
The silver she-cat then understood. He is a true clan cat, wanting his friend to have the fun along with him. "Why, of course we can have it another time. That's very nice of you to say that, since Nettlepaw couldn't have the fun along with you. I'll talk to Ghoststar to see if we can have it tomorrow," she meowed, then giving her paws a quick lick.

Lightningstrike bounded through the slanting, overgrown forest, checking every now and then to make sure his apprentice was in pursuit. It was a gorgeous day, even the lush canopy of trees allowed the sun to peek through, normally persistent to keep it out. It truly felt as if all was well in the world.
Keeping a steady pace, the warrior trampled the bed of dead leaves, heading for an area just inside the boundaries of CelestialClan's territory. Finally the sound of trickling water reached his ears, a network of tiny creeks that flowed together to form a crystal spring. He stopped to catch his breath and awaited his apprentice's arrival.

Nettlepaw padded after his mentor Lightningstrike. He wondered if Cloudpaw was still around, he liked that she-cat. It seemed also that she liked him back. She was so amazing, however he quickly realized that while thinking about Cloudpaw he had fallen behind a little. In a few quick bounds he soon caught up with his mentor and kept the pace behind him. Cloudpaw had just popped into his mind randomly, or had she? He hadn't been very happy that he had let her down by not being able to stay. Still, he did not want to get into trouble with his mentor, no he would avoid that at all costs, well, if he could help it. He slowed to a halt beside his mentor and looked to him. "Hunting or Battling?" He asked.

Waiting until his apprentice fell silent, Lightningstrike leaned forward slightly, ears perfectly erect and still. The prey seemed to be running well, scurrying about under the moss and leaves, perhaps thirsting for a drink. "I think hunting would be best", he decided, "We have a lot of hungry clanmates to feed." He crouched down now and crept along, his belly brushing the forest floor. "I know it's hard to hunt on such slanted terrain, but that's a disadvantage to the prey, too." he advised, slinking stealthily towards a chipmunk. "I find it's easier to make the prey run uphill, since it's more tiring and they're slower. They don't have a lot of endurance." He broke into a sudden run, startling the chipmunk, but as it made a dash for the nearest tree, Lightningstrike leapt and pinned it down with his forepaws. He nodded at his apprentice. "Now you try."

She couldn't help it, like an unaware, perky wanderer, ears cocked in fake attenitiveness, pawsteps springy and bouncy, like a carefree mother and her steadily growing son, she loped, nearly skipped, through the dangerously sloped land, murderously planning and scheming. Finally, eyes bright with eagerness, she braced herself for a moment only, paused to ready her body and face for the beating she was about to give it, before motioning for Slash to follow, Redhatred dove into a thick, traitorously berry-filled bramble patch, crying out at the thorns grappled for her face, griping and tearing like claws, which was exactly her purpose. By the time they reached anyone, Slash and herself would look beaten, dying, weary wanderers, clawed and broken. FInally! Out of the bush, Redhatred scanned, no one, now she pretended to limp; she was quite talented at this, as her left hing leg fdangled uselessly, her russet bodice making slow, jerking steps toward the cheery voices she heard, putting on an agonized grimace, she tumbled into the training clearing, gasping for breath, "Dear Sammy!" She called to Slash, making up the name on a moment's notice, realizing Slash would be a bit morbid for innocent travelers, "Our saviors! Tell me, grand cats, have you a healer?" Her pale eyes pleaded Lightningstrike to take them in and nurture them.

Nettlepaw slunk down onto his haunches and began to creep forward while scenting the air. The scent of a squirrel caught his attention, but something else did too. He straightened up and scented the air again, he could scent blood and an unfamiliar cat scent. He padded back to his mentor. "I can scent blood and a strange cat." He meowed urgently to his mentor. As he heard a noise his head whipped around to see a mass of blood and fur emerging through the undergrowth. It stunk of its own strange scent, blood and berries. He could see few berries smeared over her pelt along with blood. "I think they got stuck in the brambles." he murmured to his mentor. He held back a laugh, the poor she-cat. He stepped behind his mentor to let him do the talking. He eyed the strange traveler wearily and gulped, she looked scary, and she obviously wasn't the only cat who would emerge from the undergrowth judging from the call she made to her hidden companion.

Slash reluctantly followed his mother through the brambles, suppressing hisses of pain as the thorns tore at his fur and left him covered in scratches. Was this Redhatred's way of getting back at him for laughing at her when she fell in the water? Better not be, for her sake. He almost snorted with laughter as she called him Sammy; he supposed he would have to call her Mom or something like that. Emerging from the bushes he stood behind his mother, not because he was scared - actually the opposite, so the other two cats would not be scared of him. He knew he could look intimidating, especially as he was angry at having to walk through brambles, so it was better if he stayed out of the way. Wincing ever so slightly at his scratches, he waited for the cat's response.

Lightningstrike whirled around in surprise at his apprentice's frantic voice and the oncoming of many strange scents. The intruders seemed harmless enough, maybe even genuine, but there was something terribly suspicious at the same time - they definitely weren't kittypets with those slick, lean muscles, that keen, street-smart glimmer in their eyes. Yet, they both seemed weary and in pain, sending a desperate plea to him in their gaze. The territory here was harsh and demanding, and would Ghoststar honestly mind if a couple of travelers simply camped out here for the night? With these buzzing thoughts bouncing around, it took him a moment to realize the she-cat had asked him something. "Erm...yes, a medicine cat, if that's what you're looking for..." he narrowed his eyes, just to let them know no matter the circumstances, CelestialClan wasn't to be taken advantage of. "I'm not sure why you'd be mouse-brained enough to charge headfirst into some brambles, but lucky for you Rainflower isn't discriminatory against morons." [/blockquote]

Nettlepaw held back a shallow chuckle as his mentor's comment. There was something about these cats that made him not chuckle or laugh or tease playfully. They didn't just look like kittypets, they were far too well built and muscular to be soft little kittypets. He stood close by his mentor in case one of these cats pulled a ridiculous stunt. What would Ghoststar think? He looked to his mentor. "Should I go and tell Ghoststar? Or should I bring her here?" He whispered. If it was his decision he would not really have wanted them to stay, but the decision was Ghoststar's and all cats knew that her word was final, well for the cat's of Celestialclan anyway. It may be in their nature to be good, but they were not to be taken advantage of, or underestimated for that matter. Mess with them and you would find yourself lying bleeding, or maybe worse, dead. They were perfectly able of killing other cats, just as able as every other clan.

Pondering his apprentice's query with careful thought, Lightningstrike stared down at this paws. Nettlepaw was wary just as he was, there was a nervous edge to his voice, and they both seemed to acknowledge the situation could go from bad to worse in a split second. He wasn't eager to face these cats alone should they come after him (and that was perfectly possibly, who could trust a rogue?), but he needed Ghoststar's word before he made any rash decisions. With a reluctant sigh he mumbled, "Go fetch Ghoststar, and be quick about it."
He locked eyes with the strange red she-cat, reflecting her piercing gaze. He did have one very obvious advantage, one that was a glaring weak point for the intruders. The slanted territory was a treacherous place to fight for any cat to fight, but CelestialClan had the upper hand, having adapted to the terrain. Still, two cats against one was no fair match, and even the younger cat, lurking behind his mother, looked far from harmless.
