"He’s the devil in disguise, a snake with blue eyes, and he only comes out at night."
Jayblue lay atop a stump, sunbathing not far from camp. He wouldn't have left camp to begin with, except that there were cats there to bother him, and certain ones he really didn't want to talk to right then. So he had managed to drag himself lazily out into the forest, to this favorite spot, a short stump surrounded tightly by low growing, leafy trees. It was nearly impossible to see, if a cat was just walking by. For this reason, and for two others in particular, he felt safe that no one would find him. Not only was it well hidden, but no one would be looking for Jayblue anyway, and lastly, there was a small but fast running stream close by, so it masked any noise he might've made. The only thing that could give him away now was scent.
The stump was about three fox lengths across, so he rolled over upon it easily without falling off the edge. Icy blue eyes narrowed against the patch of harsh aquamarine sky, Jayblue contemplated, watching the rustling of leaves about the edges of his vision. Things had become rather awkward as of late. He'd liked things better between himself and Brazenpaw when he didn't owe her anything. Now they weren't enemies but they also weren't friends, so he was never sure whether he should say something to her or not in passing. Not that he cared, of course, what a silly little rogue apprentice thought... He was just being polite... No, that wasn't right either, because Jayblue was never courteous. "Hmmmm..." Something else then. But what?
Shutting his eyes finally, the pale blue gray tabby drowsed in the sun. All the while he was actively thinking, but his thought process became more and more convoluted as his exposure to the heat went on. Finally he lost his grip on the thread of ideas entirely, and his mind was occupied by only blackness.

Vireobreeze [/i] <><><><><>The Tempestclan warrior slunk through the undergrowth in the forest near his clans camp, placing every pawstep carefully. Vireobreeze was tracking the scent of a mouse, and he would have to be perfectly silent to creep up on the sensitive little creature. His dark bluish-gray tail curled around the soft green leaves of the plants surrounding him, his paw-pads gently pressing against the soft earth. His yellow-green eyes lit up to the color of fresh leaves in sunshine at the sight of the plump little rodent. Muscles tense with anticipation, he crept in, the mouse's heartbeat overlaying the sound of his own, pulsing in the fur of his pointed ears. There were new bright green leaves everywhere, a stream running nearby, covering the sound of Vireobreeze's breathing and masking the vibrations of each pawstep. He pulled his weight back into his haunches, ready to strike. Three...two...one... "Hmmmm..." The hum of thought wasn't loud, but it distracted Vireobreeze for a split-second, setting his pounce off-balance. His ivory claws unsheathed in desperation, forelegs stretched in an attempt to catch the mouse before it fled. Unfortunately, the warrior simply landed hard on his white-furred stomach, the mouse dodging his paw and disappearing into the undergrowth.
The blue and white warrior scrambled quickly to his paws. Some other cat was near. Vireobreeze hurriedly scented the air again, forcing his attention away from the lingering mouse-scent. This time, he picked up a cat-scent, very near and fresh, another Tempestclan tom. He flicked his tail along the length of his left hind leg, feeling his short fur brush against itself as he began to follow the scent. It wasn't long before he was sliding his slim frame in between two dense, low, leafy trees. There, dozing in a patch of sunshine, on a wide tree stump, was Jayblue. Vireobreeze wasn't exactly sure why, but for some reason the sight of him was deeply irritating. Softly, he stepped in close until he was nearly looking straight down at Jayblue's closed eyes. His voice came quietly, softly, but with his annoyance evident. "If you're going to be sleeping here, I would prefer that you don't scare off my prey, thanks." <><><><><>[/center]

"He’s the devil in disguise, a snake with blue eyes, and he only comes out at night."
Jayblue shifted, feeling a faint vibration moving throughout the wood beneath him. He kept his eyes closed, however, and did his best to remain still, listening to the extremely telltale signs of a cat moving closer and closer to him. Now the tom, by scent, stood over him, warm, moist breath cloying Jayblue's fur and wetting his nose. He focused on not making an utterly disgusted face, as the Tempestclan warrior spoke: "If you're going to be sleeping here, I would prefer that you don't scare off my prey, thanks."
The blue gray tabby's eyes flicked open calmly, reflecting all that they took in with a cold aura, chilling as they looked sharply at Vireobreeze. "If you're going to be hunting here," he snarled dryly, "I would appreciate you staying out of my face so I can sleep." With that Jayblue smiled, standing as he would normally without another warrior hovering over him, not caring whether he bumped Vireobreeze or not. He then sat with his lean form straight, tail curled lightly over paw. With little pause, he spoke to the warrior of around the same age, "Besides, pretty boy, if you're such a poor hunter that a tiny sigh causes you to lose your quarry, maybe you ought to go back to being a 'paw. "
He laughed, wondering just how seriously the other tom would take his remarks. Vireobreeze was of the same pure-blood Tempestclan breeding as himself, and thus he had the potential to be just as nasty. Jayblue didn't really feel like fighting, though, he was just being himself, and he was a bit irritated with the other tom, telling him what he could and could not do. In fact, now he was positively agitated, but also just stubborn enough not to show it. Lashing his tail so that it beat close to Vireobreeze's white paws, he leaped down from the stump with a snort. Of course the time he wanted to be alone someone would find and annoy him. "If you're having such a hard time," Jayblue simpered effeminately, "Then I'd better go and catch something to make up for it."
